Good day fellow thread members thanks for keeping the thread alive as pertaining to the IGCSE AND CIE stuff I have followed the thread recently someone update us that we had to be working in A grade schools before we could be accepted into the body as examiners, the fact which I have confirmed to be true when I made my research on the CIE WEBSITE. But I want to raise the issue that not all A grade schools will recruit teachers without that qualification so please is there anyone on the thread that can help us so we register through his / her school please be your brothers keeper so we can progress together

yes I understand issues u guys are trying to raise its cogent at least let this school owners treat graduates with respect n stop been overly concerned about profits at the detriment of their staffs, remember u don't kill/maltreat the goose that lays the golden egg still expecting eggs to fall from heaven.
yes stiff economic conditions does not give room for more profits but u can still see some mushroom schools springing up every now and then at the detriment of standard, what u should ask yourselves is why are all this schools springing up ,the answers are not far fetched ;mostly some one maltreated in his or her work place think of ways of getting out of the place to establish his or her own school in future such a person will still maltreat his /her staffs so the chain continues. Graduates to you too you can't just sit down without improving yourself in order to move up the ladder not improving ourselves makes school owners maltreat us. To both parties let me tell u I for see in future our privately owned schools might turn to public schools we have in the past were teachers give students melon to peel off for them during school hours though it might nor physically turn into that but what you will have is a teacher in a classroom whose mind is not totally committed to the teaching profession, all he/she will be waiting for is let school close n let me get out of the school to do business's that fetches me more money than this this singular notion will affect the product such teacher churns our. This and many is what I was thinking when I raised the issue of private school teachers union don't misquote me teaching is my passion life

How workers of private school are treated......u should get my drift and that is the essence of unions to curb the excesses and fight to improve staff welfare.
pls no matter comfort u re enjoying in ur present work let's try to rise for the injustice against our fellow graduates that is the essence of calling for a private school teachers union

Endtime1, thank you for this good idea of yours, I never thought of it before, but before we proceed, the reason the school was set up was to provide educational services and in return make money, however, I would say most of them are out to make abnormal profit. I must remind you that we have two school owners on this thread and not forgetting guest that are school owners.

The reason the proprietors have an association is to speak with one voice which is secondary and to peg salaries at a specific amount especially in some specific location or area in Lagos which is the primary aim of the association~I stand to be corrected. For Instance, a teacher with a master degree somewhere on the mainland in a school (name whitheld) takes home 35k with three Kids while the graduates there take 30k as their take home pay.

There is a school(name withheld) close to Obanikoro on the mainland in Lagos, where the proprietor hosted school owners in the locality to a lavish party, the agenda of the meeting was to peg a certain amount as salaries for teachers, reason being that, if a proprietor losses a teacher to another school in the same locality, the proprietor would not regret, why? Because the pay would not be different from the school the teacher left. For example, if I leave a school that pays 30k to another school within the locality I will earn 31 or 32k even with years of experience.

As regard having association is a very good idea but Unionism is not allowed in most of this private schools especially the "mushroom" ones, even if we would have one we need experience hands to direct us as to how to form it, but I doubt if we would have any, ordinary feedback na beg we dey beg-because it is everyman for himself God for all of us. Some school owners or proprietor treats graduates like the way Lebanese treats Nigerians, especially some schools within that Alagbole, tales of how schools owner treat graduates are on this thread and many more.

In defence of school owners, we created the opportunities plus it is quite difficult doing business in Nigeria especially now that the dollar is above #200. The cost of running a school is expensive.....

How do you propose we form this association?
u spoke my mind about the whole issue I think we can start off by looking at the laws that set up Nut if it gives room to people in private schools I believe this is possible in the sense that Nlc is allowed in some blue chip companies and they even picket some of those organization that don't comply.OK from another point of view if we can get any lawyer on the thread to tell us laws guiding formation of such association then we can move on from there

Good day all, I benefited one way or the other from this thread but come to think of it I had this idea running through my mind which came as a result what I have noticed in the education sector we graduates are at the mercy of school proprietors that pays peanut all in the name of salary, treating graduates as if they haven't pass thru university system at all. This private school owners have an association called Napps but we graduates working in so called private schools don't have any union per say to address all the injustice melted out to us..in this light I will love the movers and shakers of this thread to think of way we can save the brilliant Nigerian graduates from the mess ...pls sunnapar,Golden doctor ,profdgay,upload111 what's d way forward

My love , teaching is a calling and you must be passionate about it before you enjoy it. My dear, I have a slogan that "my placenta wasn't buried in any school ". So if you feel you're under paid, please move on.

Funny enough most graduates at the moment of being interviewed, over express themselves that they can teach all subjects and multitask. They won't stick to one or two subjects they are good in. When they resume and share the periods, they will cry foul. In my present school, though I can teach English, literature and French; I told them I can't teach literature but can teach English. And when I resumed, they wanted to shove it my way and I reminded them of my statements during the interview. And it was given to someone else. I teach only English now and for 3 classes with 12 period per week. So don't blow your trumpet. Don't say you can take all science subjects because the school at the end of the day will want to save money by dumping all the subjects on one person.

Dust and edit your c.v ,keep searching and you will definitely see the one you can enjoy

Cheer !
yes its true most of we so called graduates are reasons why most schools treat graduates unfairly. they always want to show oversabi imagine a chemistry graduate will be claiming I can teach physics ,further maths ,chemistry ,basic science, agric, biology, basic tech to mention a few
.if a graduate will muti task then how come will other graduates get job
