Al-Nassr midfielder, Jaloliddin Masharipov, has finally addressed claims that he wanted to leave the club after having to hand his No. 7 jersey to forward Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, 38, put an end to speculations over his future after joining Al-Nassr on a free transfer last December.

The Portugal captain signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Saudi Pro League club.

Before Cristiano’s arrival, many people asked me, ‘Will you give him the No. 7?’ How can you not give it?! He is Cristiano Ronaldo!” Such players should always be respected! After giving my number, many people assumed that I would leave the team. I gave my number without any problem. There was no talk of leaving. Both the club and the coach wanted to see me in the team.”

He continued: “I have a contract with the team. I only changed my number because Ronaldo came. This guy is one of the two best players in the world. There’s no need to talk much.”

CBN barred from extending old naira notes usage


The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has barred the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and President Muhammadu Buhari and 27 commercial banks from suspending or interfering with the currency redesign terminal date of February 10 or issuing any directive contrary to the said date, Nairametrics reports.

The court in its order restrained the CBN from extending the deadline on the use of old naira notes.

In a motion by 5 political parties, Justice Eneojo Eneche of the FCT court also granted an order directing the Chief Executive Officers (CEOS) of the banks, to show cause why they should not be arrested and prosecuted for the financial sabotage of the country, by illegally hoarding and not disbursing the new N200, N500, and N1000 bank notes, despite the supply of such notes by the central bank.

The court held, “An order of interim injunction is hereby made restraining the defendants whether by themselves, staff agents, officers, interfacing banks or whosoever not to suspend, stop, extend, vary or interfere with the extant termination date of use of the old N200, N500, and N1000 bank note being 10th day of February 2023, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,”
