Politics / Re: Why Lagos Blue Rail And Lagos Governors Should NEVER Be Celebrated (opinion) by Enice(m): 2:52pm On Sep 09, 2023
Vinnie2000:

*Almost all HEADQUARTERS of Most companies are in Lagos.
*Airports and Seaports are in Lagos.πŸ™
*Almost all the BIG Celebrities live in Lagos
*Most Big Markets are in Lagos. πŸ˜•

With such ADVANTAGES ,why should the Blue Rail be Celebrated?
With the Huge Taxes and High Revenue the State Generates Monthly, why should we celebrate Lagos?😏

And Why should any Lagos Governor be Celebrated?πŸ˜’

Lagos is like Real Madrid. Real Madrid fans do NOT celebrate any Coach that wins them UEFA champions league.
It's NORMAL to them, given the Huge Resources they invest on Players! sad

It is Arsenal, Inter Milan, Athletico Madrid, etc that will Celebrate, Idolize or build a Statue for a coach that wins them the UCL. πŸ™‚

It is NORMAL for a Any Lagos Governor to do well because of it's Position in Nigeria.

I Say this because APC goons claim Bola Tinubu was better than Peter Obi as Governor.πŸ˜•

Can Anyone compare Anambra and Lagos?

What Resources or Big Companies are in Anambra?πŸ˜’πŸ™

If Tinubu would have FAILED WOEFULLY if governed Anambra. And HE Peter Obi performed Creditably well in the state. 😊😊

So Plz, All the OverHype should STOP.

And NO Lagos Governor should be Overhyped. They will be Probably Average or even Poor if you take them to Taraba, Benue or Edo.πŸ™

AGREE OR DISAGREE? πŸ€”πŸ™‚

Mynd44 my man.
Take to FP. Let's discuss further.
Thanks. smiley
Oga, go and get your facts right. Before 1999, Lagos was one big slum! It's IGR was not even enough to dispose waste generated from the state talkless of paying workers. Initially, when the tax initiative started, it was resisted. People were complaining of double taxation and all that. Some where saying businesses will run away from Lagos but Tinubu insisted that the tax restructuring must go on. Today, they are reaping what they sowed.
Now, someone like you will just come out to say Lagos IGR this and that not knowing where they are coming from. Even at a time, banks were shut down in Lagos for refusing to pay taxes, FG ministries etc. Tinubu insisted that everyone must pay tax. So don't think it's easy. Soludo is taking that step now in Anambra state but he is still not at Tinubu's level. His focus is just on transportation.

Just wondering how next election will be, as it stands now Nigerians have lost trust for INEC. Most people aren't interested in voting again, as what been have isn't Election, but Selection.
Lost which trust? Obi was bound to fail from day one! How do you go to an election tribunal to say you won without stating how you won? That is the first issue. State the figures as per the result gotten from your field agents, that's the first thing. Not trying to win through technicalities

Yes Lagos is still under developed…

No jobs…

No water..

No electricity…

The neighborhoods still remain unkept..

Insecurity is very high..

It’s just a general ploy with African leaders…

They don’t know how to really transform lives…

Let me quote your statement. You said " his intelligence has only brought success to him and not the society in general" I only countered that statement by listing some of his achievements that has impacted on society.
On the issue of the challenges you mentioned, man will always have challenges even in heaven.

Although its his personal achievement…

Let him also tell about him meaning contributions to humanity and Nigeria at large, judging by his access to various life changing positions.

In reality all his intelligence has only brought success to him only and not the society or nation at large…

Been a brilliant student his good, but it’s doesn’t empower a leader to create real change in Nigeria, President Tinubu is a good example…

Judging by his leadership skills and pattern I think president Tinubu posses only class room skills and not real life developmental skills..

I think a vice chancellor position in one of our local universities is a perfect position for president Tinubu…

The president spent most of his life developing his brain for only academic excellence, but did not develop himself to contribute anything meaningful to our nation or the society at large…

I stand to be corrected…

Yeah! You really stand to be corrected. Look at Lagos state. He started the LFTZ, Eko Atlantic, Lastma monorail, etc. Is that not something one can count as achievement

Tinubu, through Olanipekun, in a final written address to the tribunal against the petition, said the FCT is the 37th state for electoral purposes and any other interpretation would β€œlead to absurdity, chaos, anarchy and alteration of the very intention of the legislature.”

Nigerians recall the audacious statement by the president addressed to the tribunal justices on July 15th

It is ironic that while the LP supporters have been accused of trying to intimidate the judiciary, the only ones who actually directly threatened the judiciary was the presidency and his henchmen . How did the presidency know that widespread anarchy would result in anarchy or that even if it did , would/could not be contained by security agents unless they were not masterminds ?

We remember in 2011 when Buhari threatened and said the dogs and baboon will be soaked in blood . This violence was unleashed when he lost the election.

The justices understood the veiled threat, knowing their lives would be in danger with complicity by the Nigerian state and its faceless assassins , they acted to safeguard themselves .

you lack comprehensive skills. Go and re-read what the lawyer said, then ask someone more intelligent that you to interpret it for you.

according to landuse act of 1978 the governor hold land and assets in each state in trustees for the people. Abuja has no governor so president is given that power to hold the land in fct in trustees for the people of Abuja, now in the president wisdom, he delegated his power to a minister. The governors won elections in their state but president didn't win in Abuja but want to preside over the affairs in Abuja absolutely. President does not have absolute power over any state except in Abuja. So Abuja is special for any president to secure atleast 25%. Ordinary it out to be a win. Don't forget Buhari took Obasanjo to court because of the same thing

the president is the governor of Abuja so he delegated his power to a minister. How can you rule a state that you didn't win? Abuja is special because it's a seat of power with president has the absolute power to hold the land and assets in trustees for the people unlike other states, president can't exercise his power without asking the Governors. So many reasons I can give to you. The judges were wrong if supreme court refused to correct those mistakes, then Nigeria will be lawless in few years to come. They must look away from Tinubu and do the right thing. This is about our country not the president.
Oga, what about the states the president did not win? Why would he have absolute powers in such states. If Obi were to become president should he have powers to preside over the northern states when he did not get even 10% of the votes cast?

Leadership is simply the problem here, and until we get that correctly nothing will work. It's not your 'subsidy' brouhaha, bro

Any decision that doesn't favour the interest of the larger number in a democratic setting is no good decision. That's some form of utilitarianism.
Wise up man!
Maybe until it gets to the level of Zimbabwe years ago, that's when we should act!
It's the citizens that builds a nation not the government. It's what we as citizens contribute that the government will use to make the nation great. If the country's debt is shared per head and you're asked to pay will you agree? I guess the answer is no! There are two ways to pay the debt. Through tax or through the removal of subsidy. Which is more preferably? For now, we have to bite the stone for the nation to move forward and for our children. If we don't pay, our children will pay. We should stop postponing the veil days and deal with it now we are alive.

The way many of you reason, it is like you believe that if Obi had won the presidency, unemployment would end, poverty would end, terrorism would end, wastage would end, corruption would end, Nigeria would suddenly become Dubai.

The irony is that Peter Obi is not even new to governance. He has governed a state before, for 8 solid years. What impact did he make in that state? What out-of-the-box projects did he execute or complete? I don't understand the sudden love for Obi. It is all sentiment.

It's a simple question that requires a simple answer with proofs.

First of all, if it were as simple as you have just stated, a judgement would have been issued by now. There's nothing more that Tinubu needs than the legitimation of his government. The very fact that the PEPT is still thinking of judgement means Tinubu is not innocent, at least not all of these petitions.

Secondly, is that with what we all know, if the PEPT does not disqualify Tinubu then just know that there is no justice in Nigeria and that the constitution is dead.
