A U.S. guided missile cruiser operating in international waters in the South China Sea was forced to take evasive action last week to avoid a collision with a Chinese navy ship maneuvering nearby, the U.S. Pacific Fleet said in a statement on Friday.

The incident on December 5 involving the USS Cowpens came at a time of heightened tensions between the United States and China following Beijing's declaration of an Air Defense Identification Zone in the East China Sea.

The singer's Sunday arrest on an assault charge put him on a path toward a possible prison sentence, but he will be in a rehabilitation facility as his next court date approaches.

"Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility," said a statement Tuesday night from his representative. "His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."

A Malaysian court has ruled that non-Muslims cannot use the word Allah to refer to God.The appeals court said that allowing non-Muslims to use the word would "cause confusion in the community".

Christians argue that they have used the word in Malay for decades and that the ruling violates their rights.

It came after the government said that a Catholic newspaper, The Herald, could not use the word in its Malay-language edition to describe the Christian God.

Chief judge Mohamed Apandi Ali said on Monday: "The usage of the word Allah is not an integral part of the faith in Christianity."

He was asked about the declining PC market. He said that tablets are growing in popularity, and it’s “going to be harder and harder to distinguish products” that are PCs versus tablets.

A Senior High School (SHS) form-two student of an Nsawam private school (name withheld) has told a source in an exclusive interview that it will be wrong to accuse her of the death of her lover, a 30-year-old trotro driver and resident of Gbetsile near Afienya.

According to the school girl, she could not have been the cause of Jerry Amoah’s death, especially when they had entered into a blood covenant, indicating that it came as a surprise to her that he committed suicide because of her.

The body of Jerry Amoah was found hanging on a mango tree on Tuesday April 30, 2013.The driver hanged himself over what he explained in a suicide note, written behind a photograph of the young lady, attributing his decision to end his life to an alleged failed love relationship with the 20-year old SHS student.

The body of the driver, according to Corporal Joseph Barabu, Assistant Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command, was found by some residents of Dam City, a Gbetsile suburb.

The assembly woman for the area, according to the PRO, called the Emef Estate Police and informed them about the incident.

He said when the police got to the scene around 5:30am, the deceased’s body was dangling on the mango tree.

Two Nigerian nationals, who claim to be pastors from the Nigeria based Prophet T.B. Joshua’s Church, have been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Service after they attempted to defraud a young man on the deceit of having solutions to his spiritual problems.

The two suspects, Emmanuel John Bassey, a mobile phone repairer and David Brown a trader are said to be residents of Tudu, a suburb of Accra, and were trying to defraud the young student just in front of the Ghana Police Headquarters building in Accra.

They were arrested when they tried to lure Amenyuse Etornam, a student of Adonten Senior High School to part with a tin of milk and some money which was supposed to be used for the restoration of the blood of the young man, which they had earlier claimed had been sucked the previous night.

The student, who sensed that the two men were trying to defraud him, reported the case to the police and the two men were arrested immediately.

Commissioner of Police (COP), Prosper Agblor, giving the facts of the matter noted that on April 11, 2013, the two suspects “in their usual rounds met the complainant who was returning from holiday classes in front of the Police Headquarters building.”

According to the Director General of the CID, one of the suspects, Emmanuel Bassey, was the first to confront the student and introduced himself as a pastor from Prophet J.B Joshua’s Church in Nigeria.

The youth activist even created a petition so Brown can somehow face his criminal charges.

Jonathan said: "He is on video to have encouraged the audience to take up arms against people who stand in their way to smoking weed. In our prisons, many are incarcerated for same.

''The last two days, I have been with the police and an investigation has commenced. The police have moved swiftly and they are not leaving anything unturned."

But before all this went down, Chris could care less about the laws in Ghana because he even got the crowd going by saying, “If anybody is tripping off ya’ll smoking weed, f*ck them. S*it, I got my blunt right here,” while a melody of weed-related tunes played in the background.

More than 140 Catholic cardinals met Monday at the Vatican, where the process of selecting a new pope edged toward beginning.

The cardinals met twice during the day, in the morning and in the evening. After the evening session, most left by car, though some departed on foot. Few spoke as they left the meeting.

After the morning session, a decision had not been made on when the conclave to select Pope Benedict XVI's successor would start, Vatican spokesman the Rev. Federico Lombardi told reporters.

"It's on the table, but no decision has been reached," Lombardi said.
The General Congregations meeting is a key step before the conclave, in which all cardinals younger than 80 are to meet in the Vatican to vote for the next pope.

AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has admitted for the first time that playing for Ghana three years ago catapulted him to greatness in the face of his flagging career.

The 26-year-old, who plays for the Italian giants, snubbed Ghana just one year after playing for the West African country helped him to secure the big-money move to Milan.

Boateng switched nationality to play for the country of his father at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa at a time his career was going nowhere with relegated English side Portsmouth.

The midfielder was on the verge of being relegated to the obscurity of the English second tier which could have ended his dreams of playing top-class football.


However, showing with the Black Stars in South Africa secured him the move to AC Milan but one year later he angered Ghanaians by quitting the national team with a flimsy excuse.

Since then he has refused to comment on the role Ghana played in helping him get the move to AC Milan but for the first time he has admitted his association with the Black Stars three years ago made his a world class player.

“Only three years ago I realised what I am capable of and what level I could reach,” Boateng conceded and revealed that he didn’t have any focus before he played for Ghana.

“Beforehand I was only a football player, I loved to play football but I was a child, I was young and I did many things you shouldn’t do. So what could I say to a young player? It is difficult.

“If you are thrown into a pool full of money and you are playing in front of 80,000 people, it isn’t easy, it wasn’t easy for me. It was difficult.

“The only thing I can recommend is to keep your feet on the ground and keep working hard. That is the most important thing.”

Boateng’s decision to retire from the Black Stars generated anger with many accusing him of being opportunistic by using and dumping the national team.

The Ghana international is enjoying a purple patch, having scored twice in his past three matches – including the crucial first goal in their round-of-16 first-leg victory over Barcelona in the Champions League.
