The way they suddenly master bending by just getting a few words of advice will never not be funny to me both in ATLA cartoon and the Netflix adaptation

Katara went from barely able to bend to being at master level just because of a few words of advice. All their training is always so easy...


But who am I to complain when there's One Piece where the crew especially Luffy suddenly unleashing new gears in fights when we never saw him train for it...

I think they just needed to do a decent season...then we'll know how good the adaptation can be when they adapt season 2 of ATLA which imo is the best season of the source material

I have been having arguments on Reddit about this series all day.
To compare ATLA animation with this is not worth it because at this point no one can do what the animation did. If they tried to replicate the humor, it'll be worse than it is now.
So I try to compare with other live action like th Last of Us or One Piece; unfortunately, there's no comparison- the story is sooooooo full of shit bro, acting was so baaaad even from the older actors, background sound design was the worst - just insulting

Erwin risked his life to stage a bloodless coup in Season 3...He could have been easily executed if Pixis and Zachary didn't side with him...


Even at the end, Erwin saw himself as a conman who led others to their deaths all for dreams of learning the truth about the world...

I'm guessing your preference based on what you seem to like. Kamui hasn't shown much plot yet. Even the first episode was almost entirely action.

There's nothing wrong in having preferences...even me I have mine --- I prefer shows with well defined conflict rather than character journeys or learning

No Star War Movie is BAD

Imo Snyder is more of a cinematographer than a movie director.

Studying movies doesn't mean anything if he can't implement what he's studied properly.

His character work in that movie was seriously lacking. Character designs are cool but that's where their depth ends.

Character A: would you join us?

Character A: you should really join us
Character B: okay I will

That's the summary of most of the recruitment dialogue in the movie.

Or a character criticizing revenge when they recruited her. Then in her presence they recruited the general using revenge as justification.

This movie is not the 2/10 that some people claim...and not the 10/10 that some Synderbots claim.

People say Snyder is style without substance. I don't exactly agree but he certainly isn't a good storyteller imo


As the start of a franchise I'd say it does a decent job at introducing us to it's world. But the movie should have been longer. It should have been 3 hours....that way we'd get enough time to develop the characters...

Most of the characters introduced were flat...just interesting designs and did nothing afterwards...
Most of them joined the resistance/rebel formed by Kora too easily...
I don't think General Titus who had given up on battle should be joining in less than a minute of dialogue...

The story itself is also pretty straightforward...not much happened in this movie...

The world also looks interesting but not properly fleshed out. I guess Snyder didn't want to bore his audience with more world building so he kept things as short as possible...

As expected from a Snyder movie, it had a lot of cinematic shots...sometimes too much in my opinion...
The action scenes would have benefitted from the reduction of slow motion shots...
Heck...they could have cut out 20 minutes if they reduced the slow mo. That's 20 minutes that could have gone into characters and world building. Add an extra 30 minutes to the movie and you have proper characters and a proper world...

The gore is weird. At first I thought the movie was against gore since all the early action scenes seemed to have forgotten that humans bleed when they are cut by axes...
But later on, we do see quite some gore...

It's like they tried to make the movie PG-13 then later changed their mind and forgot to edit the earlier scenes

Overall a semi-decent start to a franchise....
The world looks interesting, their history feels interesting the few times it's actually explored...and we should have learnt more on it but there are other parts coming I guess... their costumes look interesting too... although a bit overboard

Well that's your opinion it was one of the good ones for me. Glad its getting renewed need more of Oscar Isaacs on my screen dude really killed the role ngl.

Warrior might be picked up by netflix fingers crossed.

Personally I think Oscar Isaac had very good acting in that movie.

I was so hyped after episode 1...

But the script let him down and devolved into absolute nonsense imo...

His acting couldn't save the show for me...
