pu7pl3: It's amazing how In just 2 years Matt Reeve's Batman has become such a cult classic. It's like it gets better with each rewatch. And this Penguin series is adding to it's legend too.
Till they make a The Batman 2 to undo the first movie and insult fans of the first movie just like a certain sequel
Achilles100: Why you nor drop your own lengthy review regarding what you've seen in FROM and The Penguin? Perhaps twill get the thread from the "disturbance of animation"?
No mind am.
Complain when people talk about animation, but they can't contribute about non-animated shows
But I didn't like the finale at all. Nothing in the finale made any sense.
The entire palace being burned to shreds from a little candle that was previously chilling on the floor? Wtf?? If it were that easy for the palace to burn, it would have burnt down since. No one would randomly keep a little candle on the floor if it were that easy.
Funny thing is the place the fire started from barely burnt, but everywhere else got burnt severely
The entire Palace invasion made no sense. From tactics to characters actions, to staging of the Army. It was just a poorly done finale in my opinion.
Another issue that bugged me from the start was Mizu's motivation. I just had a hard time with it throughout the show.
She has internal hatred for her race, the entire social and political system, etc cos the society hates her race and calls her a monster. Okay cool. But then she wants to find and kill her Western father for giving her life into this world??
I mean, no matter how much you hate your race, I find it nonsensical to spend you entire life looking for your father cos he gave you that Western DNA. Even to the extent of travelling to London to find him to kill home just cos he brought you into this world?
If she doesn't like her race, let her just kill herself and let others be. I really struggled to sympathize with her because of her motivation...
Not saying it's bad, I'm saying it didn't move me at all. I struggled to rationalize it. That's just my personal opinion tho...others may like her motivations...I tried the rationalize it...but I couldn't
Or maybe there is something else I missed about her motivations? If so, let someone here specify what I missed
I still think the show offers some solid characters (despite it's obvious wokeness and feminism). The characters and messages stood out for me.
The animation despite being CGI was also okay. If it were an anime, anime fans would treat it like a plague since they hate anything CGI (except it's a Western show).
I enjoyed the show...and I definitely recommend...
Just a few issues especially the finale that threw me off
Another complaint about the writing on the finale and the dûmbing down of characters to make the plot happen
Baddestguyp: An Army is raiding the Shôgûn palace armed with gûns...
The Shogûn guards have only swords and arrows...
What do you do? Try to force close range combat by laying quick ambush in tight spaces they'll pass
OR
Attempt to face them in open long spaces with Swords and Arrows
Guess which one the guards picked?
How TF was the Shogûn palace impenetrable with these dûmbàsses guarding it?
oyaskii: 9/10? Wow, after your years of capping how the show wasn't all that. 9/10 is a near perfect score tho, so how does your stance of it being "overhyped" fit your narrative cuz going by this your score, it seems the show it's worth all the hype 🤷🏾♂️.
So from the said overhype, was there anything they praised the show for, that was false?
Btw, After this watch, how does it compare with your bae, AOT? 🫣
The hype I was getting when I watched Arcane made me go into it with unreal expectations. It was a good show but some LOL fans were calling it the best show ever made.
For your second question, it is nowhere near AOT.
In animated medium, these are the best written shows I've ever watched -
1. Attack on Titan 2. Legend of the Galactic Heroes 3. Neon Genesis Evangelion and End of Evangelion 4. Monster 5. Vinland Saga
Arcane is good tho, but it is unranked on my list of top animated shows...
But in terms of best written Western animated shows -
1. Avatar : the last Airbender 2. Arcane
The reason I have Avatar above Arcane is that when it comes to overall plot, Avatar is a more rounded story than Arcane. But Arcane is only one season so it's not really a comparison.
Kaycee7: "They could have expanded the budget and shown us an epic battle."
Fam, there was no epic battle. It was a gàngbang. It was bullying. It was Arsenal vs Chelsea.
Did you people not listen to what Toranaga was telling Yabushige? Once Ochiba, my milf, pulled support from Ishido, the man was done. There was no heroic last stand. Just a shameful walkover.
Know that you were never denied an epic battle because there was never going to be one and know peace.
The fact is that the audience wanted the satisfaction of a battle...but we weren't given one. It doesn't ruin the finale but let's be honest, it gives a feeling of unsatisfaction.
Also, another thing to note is that even Game of Thrones didn't give us large scale battles early in the show. The large scale battles in the first 2 seasons of GOT were done offscreen
Kid, an anonymous young man unleashes a campaign of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to systematically victimize the poor and powerless.
There's not much to say about this show. A pretty solid show... I can't compare to the games because I know absolutely nothing about the games...
However, the show still has some issues.
One is the worldbuilding. Honestly the producers did not do a good job introducing newbies to the world. The first episode did well in setting up all three (3) protagonists but did a bad job in worldbuilding.
For an episode that introduced us to 3 different locations, the first episode failed to show how the locations were connected. In fact at a point during my watch of the first episode, I began to wonder if all 3 events were talking place within the same timeline.
My Second major complaint is there was way too much coincidence and plot contrivances to get characters together...
Everyone was easily finding themselves in the vast wasteland just because the plot required it.
I laughed when Lucy found Maximus trapped in the knight armor. She has a tracker in the head, not in his suit of armor. The head had been taken the previous night.
How did the Ghoul find the dog inside the cola crate? Characters kept finding each other randomly that it made no sense...
It reminded me of The Witcher where somehow despite different far cities, characters kept randomly bumping into each other when in danger...
In Fallout, there were also several times characters kept making extremely stûpid decisions... Half the time it was played for gags...but it's hard to ignore completely...
These issues and several others are present but they do not ruin the experience for anyone. Overall, it's still a pretty solid show... Not by any stretch a masterpiece and I can't compare it to the games since I have no knowledge of the games
Chibudollar: F*cking hell. I have had this since forever on my phone and just decided to give it a trial, I am genuinely blown away. I remember downloading it just for downloading sake, didn't even check the ratings or nothing. Amazing.
abduleez1: Wonder whether 2024 will deliver prime entertainment in terms of anime?? 🙄😩 Shit looks bleak AF.
Last year we had ultimate nutrition with Jujutsu Kaisen, AOT, Hell's Paradise, Heavenly Delusions, Vinland Saga S2..
This year I'm seeing shit like Solo Leveling. 😤 Not so hyped about Demon Slayer with the shïtty storytelling and filler nonsense trajectory they went with the past season.
Tried Meiji Gekken some months back but ain't feeling it yet in two episodes.
Dunno when Chainsaw Man is returning asides a rumoured upcoming movie. I don't think this year's slate is promising. 😢😤
There are certainly some good anime airing already. Some of the ones in following currently are -
1. Go! Go! Loser Ranger (my personal favorite airing...it has like evil power rangers)
Honestly I'm impressed... I haven't seen a series that goes into Universal warfare, politics like this since Legend of the Galactic Heroes... Even though LOGH doesn't feature Alien civilizations
And I also haven't seen a series that covers the ripple effect of a character's simple choice like this series since Attack on Titan
The fact that 3 Body Problem has elements present in the 2 best works of fiction I've ever witnessed - Legend of the Galactic Heroes and Attack on Titan makes me super hyped for future seasons
I've spent about 2 hours now diving into the world from the books
Auggie is the most unlikeable and annoying character in the show....she pisses me off everytime she's on screen.
An Alien threat is coming to destroy your planet and your like: "who cares, it's in 400 years" Wtf??
If you don't want to make efforts to help your race, that's fine, but actively discouraging others from doing so all because your work was used to kill humans who sided with the enemy and have been leading the alien race to earth is annoying...
At least other sensible characters are doing what needs to be done...not that Auggie who is nothing more than a Mary Sue and one with so much nonsense childish drama
Anyway, I've been looking for spoilers from the books the series is based on
Edit: I forgot to add that there is so far a lot of inconsistencies about the actions of the aliens. If they have the power to hack into every computer device in the world and can listen to every conversation in the world, then they could have taken better steps to make sure humanity does not grow stronger in the next 400 years...
They can hijack planes, kill important people, send the world into chaos etc... They can shut down servers, corrupt data and do a lot of damage...
However, they're barely doing anything and instead mostly letting humans move freely...
Why didn't they Hijack Saul's plane and send it crashing...or crash another plane into Saul rather than sending Amateur assassins with guns?
For the amount of power they possess, their actions are weak
NeoWanZaeed: I don't think so... his character ain't for girls. If it is, it would have been the healer. His goal is to save his mom. And if there'll be anything... The S and A rank will surely have conflict and will try to kill him.
I see the guild fighting eachother and him coming on top.
I definitely think he'll get the girls whether or not he's interested in them...
That's how typical power fantasy manhwa go...
We can already see glimpses of how he grew taller and became hotter and all the nurses in the hospital were sîmping for him...
It's only a matter of time before Cha Jae In is all over him too
Illusioneffect: This is actually a very real thought process for people without families and who may never have one. It's just a representation of lonely people who don't want to have families
The actress is also not doing a good job portraying the character...
But her character writing is genuinely off... She's just very whiny...
I just hope she gets killed off early in season 2 or something...
NeoWanZaeed: The only build up expected is what we saw in episode 1. Others will basically be about him getting stronger and side fighting with hunters too .. You need not expect much from the plot
And some of us struggle to enjoy a show that doesn't do much but is just focused on the MC fighting random monsters and growing stronger.
And what next? He gets the hottest girls?
I have a feeling they'll pair him up with that strongest female Hunter Cha Jae In or whatever is her name...
She's only been in a few scenes but it seems like basic power fantasy for the MC to go from being the weakest loser to being and strongest and bagging the best girls
Auggie is the most unlikeable and annoying character in the show....she pisses me off everytime she's on screen.
