Burna Boy breaks records with sell out at Paris, Lyon, Marseille’s arenas

Nigerian Grammy-nominee, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy has revealed that he is the first Nigerian artiste to sell out and shutdown three mega cities in France.

The artiste who was correcting a fan who attempted to praise the musician with some stats, stated that he has sold out Lyon, Marseille and Paris.

South African economy enters into recession

South Africa has fallen into its second recession in two years as severe rolling power blackouts frustrate President Cyril Ramaphosa’s attempt to revive growth.

The South African economy shrank by 1.4% in the fourth quarter of 2019, according to new Gross Domestic Product numbers, released by Statistics SA on Tuesday.

The vegetable seller, who sells his goods from a wheel barrow, had a minor accident and some of his vegetables fell into the gutter.

Wilder’s designers say he’s already planning a new costume for Tyson Fury rematch

Cosmo and Donato, the creators of Deontay Wilder’s $40k costume he wore to the ring for his second bout with Tyson Fury have revealed that he’s already planning a new costume for Wilder-Fury III.

The American boxer wore a black and red armored bodysuit with a matching mask and crown to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas for the second bout. But was knocked down twice before his team threw in the towel in the seventh round to hand his British rival, 31, an epic win.

“Deontay Wilder called me at home last night,” Crowley said … “We had an extensive, honest conversation that put confusion and rumors to rest.”

Cosmo said Deontay told him he considers the designer’s “family” and was “very clear that he looks forward to future collaborations.”

Iran Vice President tests positive for Coronavirus

Iran Vice President, Masoumeh Ebtekar has tested positive for coronavirus as confirmed in a state news in Tehran on Thursday February 27.

Iran’s Health ministry spokesman, Kianoush Jahanpour who confirmed the development in a press conference said the tally of infections had risen to 245 with 106 more cases confirmed, the highest number for a single day since Iran announced its first infections on February 19.

Before being appointed as Vice President, she was the spokeswoman for students who took 52 Americans hostage at the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.



In a bid to curb the spread of the disease, the Iranian Government has closed down educational and cultural institutions across the country and reportedly distributed hundreds of thousands of “sanitation packs” to help contain the virus, including to Qom province where local health authorities believe the virus originated.

Recall that Mojtaba Zolnour, head of Iranian parliament on national security and foreign affairs committee also contracted the virus.

He appeared in a video posted by Fars news agency saying he was in self-quarantine.

Lady dies during sex with policeman in Ekiti State, Nigeria.

A lady reportedly died on Wednesday night during sex with a policeman at Atayese Street, Bawa Estate in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The policeman who was having sex with the lady in her room has already been arrested. The arrested man said to be the deceased’s lover, was visiting Ekiti State from Lagos State where he works.

Ekiti_State Police Spokesperson, Mr. Sunday Abutu said the incident was reported at Oke-Ila Divisional Police Station in Ado-Ekiti by a neighbour to the deceased.

He said;

“The lady died inside her room and one of her neighbours reported at our office at Oke-Ila in Ado-Ekiti.

“Our detectives immediately visited the house and saw the body of the lady. The corpse has been evacuated and taken to the morgue of the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.”



Abutu also confirmed that the policeman has been arrested and presently in their custody.

First case of Coronavirus confirmed in Nigeria

The Lagos state Ministry of Health has confirmed the first case of Coronavirus aka COVID-19 in Nigeria, since the outbreak of the disease in China in January 2020.

A statement released by the state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, says the case, which was confirmed on the 27th of February 2020, is of an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of Feburary from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit. He fell ill on the 26th February and was transfered to Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities for isolation and testing.

COVID-19 infection was confirmed by the Virology Laboratory of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, part of the Laboratory Network of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

He said the Italian patient is clinically stable, with no serious symptoms, and is being managed at the Infectious Disease Hospital in Yaba, Lagos.

”The Government of Lagos State under the Governor as the COVID-19 Incident Commander, through the the Lagos State Ministry of Health, has been strengthening measures to ensure that any outbreak in Lagos is controlled and contained quickly in collaboration with the multi-sectoral Coronavirus Preparedness Group, led by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC). We have immediately activated the State Emergency Operations Centre to respond to this case and implement firm control measures” the statement read.



The Commissioner assured all Lagosians and Nigerians that the state has been strengthening its preparedness since the first confirmation of cases in China and vowed that the state will use all its resources made available to respond to this case.

He added that efforts are been made to identify all the contacts of the patient, since he arrived in Nigeria.

According to the statement, most people who become infected with the virus, may experience only a mild illness and recover easily, but it can be more severe in others, particularly the elderly and persons with other underlying chronic illnesses.

The Commssioner advised all residents of the state to take care of their health and maintain hand and respiratory hygiene to protect themselves and others, including their own families.

He listed the following precautions to take to avoid getting infected:

1. Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water, and use alcohol-based hand sanitiser.
2. Maintain at least 1 & half metres (5 feet) distance between you and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
3. People coughing persistently or sneezing should stay indoors or keep a social distance, but not mix with a crowd.
4. Ensure that you and people around you follow good respiratory hygiene by covering mouths and noses with a handkerchief or tissue while sneezing or coughing. You can also sneeze or cough into your sleeve at the bent elbow.Then dispose of the used tissue immediately.
5. Stay indoors if you feel unwell with symptoms, such as fever, cough and difficulty in breathing. Please call Lagos State Emergency hotlines 08023169485 or 08033565529 or 08052817243 which are available day and night.
6. Stay informed on the latest developments about COVID-19 through official channels on TV and Radio, the Social Media, including the Lagos State Ministry of Health, NCDC and Federal Ministry of Health.”



The Commissioner added that the state Ministry of Health, in collaboration with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, will continue to provide updates and will initiate all measures required to prevent the spread of any outbreak in Lagos.

Netflix launches their Nigerian twitter account

Movie streaming giant, Netflix has officially announced its presence in Nigeria with a Nigerian twitter account, launched on Tuesday.

The platform took fans by surprise when the tweet, “Naija how far” surfaced from @Netflixnaija.

Netflix is an American streaming platform whose primary business is its subscription-based streaming service which offers online streaming of a library of films and television programs, including those produced in-house.

As of April 2019, Netflix had over 148 million paid subscriptions worldwide, including 60 million in the U. S., and over 154 million subscriptions total including free trials.

Announcing the new twitter account, Netflix posted a picture of Nollywood stars including Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Banky Wellington and Akin Omotoso.

The picture also included Kemi Adetiba, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Kunle Afolayan, Kate Henshaw, Omoni Oboli and Mo Abudu.

Netflixnaija wrote: “N is for Naija. N is for Nollywood. N is the 14th alphabet. 14 is also how many great talents you’re looking at. N is for Netflix. But most importantly…hello, Nigeria!”

Following the announcement, Nigerians welcomed the platform and urged them to commission more films that reflect African stories.

The first hint Netflix would have more active interest in original African content came in May when it advertised for a director of content acquisition for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa.

In October 2016, nine months after launching in Africa, it also deployed a dedicated server in Nigeria to ease the difficulties of content delivery for its local users.

In 2019, Netflix put its eight billion dollars original production budget to work in Nigeria’s Nollywood movie industry, when it purchased the worldwide rights to ‘LionHeart’.

Bob Iger steps down as Disney CEO in a surprise announcement

Bob Iger, 69, has stepped down as CEO of the Walt Disney Company, effective immediately and Bob Chapek is the new CEO, the board of directors announced on Tuesday, February 25.

Disney named the company’s head of parks and resorts, Bob Chapek, CEO effective immediately. But Mr. Iger will stay on as executive chairman, overseeing the company’s creative endeavours through the end of next year, until his contract expires on December 31, 2021.

Iger’s announcement caught Disney employees and rival media executives off guard. His transition was inevitable, but no one expected it to happen at the time that it did.

Iger said it was the right time to step down because he needs to spend more time on the “creative side” of the company.

He said on an investor call after the announcement: “I could not do that if I had to run the company on a day to day basis.”

In an interview with CNBC, Iger said his succession plans were “actually a few years” in the making and that Chapek was identified “awhile ago as a likely candidate” to succeed him.



“He ran one of our most complex, one of our important businesses, global parks and resorts, for instance, during a time of great capital investment and a time of great change, and did so very well,” Iger said of Chapek.

Iger said that he would leave the company for good once his contract is up in 2021.

“I’ve been with the company for 45 years, and was in the CEO job for 15 of those years,” Iger said, “It’s been a fun run.”

US Rapper Pop Smoke Shot Dead In his Home (See Details Here)

The US Rapper Pop Smoke (Real Name, Bashar Barakah Jackson) was shot dead in his Hollywood Hills home and fans are in shock.

TMZ said that two masked men wearing hoodies broke into the rapper’s home early Wednesday morning, February 19, firing multiple shots before fleeing the scene on foot.

“The rapper was at his home in the Hollywood Hills at around 4:30 AM when 2 men wearing hoodies and masks broke into his house. We’re told the 2 men fired multiple shots, striking and critically wounding Pop Smoke. The men were seen fleeing on foot,” TMZ reports, citing law enforcement source.

Footage of first responders attempting to perform life-saving techniques on the rapper, as he’s being wheeled out on a stretcher to an awaiting ambulance, has been shared online.

Pop_Smoke was reportedly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
