Rukky Sanda: She is such a beauty. She has transformed into a barbie doll right before our eyes. Her skin is to die for. Some people have attributed it to bleaching, she attributes it to her "cream". In an interview she granted Bella Naija, she addressed the rumour when she said.....

"I’m light o, and I’m going to do everything I have to maintain my complexion. If they like they should call it bleaching or washing, whatever they want to call it. Me and my cream, we are best buddies. Whatever they want to say, they should continue. Me I am making money. When nobody is talking about you, then you are not doing something right.

Dencia: I can't think of any Nigerian celebrity who gets bashed online for her looks like hard working and highly connected singer Dencia. That she is a beautiful lady is not in doubt, however, there have been talks that the singer surgically enhanced her God given features.
One of the things she has been accused of doing is bleaching her skin


Toke Makinwa: There is absolutely no celebrity whose main claim to fame is on the issue of her allegedly bleaching her skin. Some people even claim she was as black as charcoal but is now as light as a "white lady". So you can imagine my shock when I saw a picture of the OAP in her university days, and she was exactly the same she is now. Light skinned.


Yvonne Nelson: That this Ghanaian beauty is enterprising and hard working is not in doubt. She has her own line of human hair, her boutique and she is currently working on her third movie. However, people have accused her of undergoing a complete 360 degree change, physically. First people where shocked by her drastic weight loss, then people started talking about her alleged bleaching. When she heard talks about the bleaching stuff, she decided to release a statement, setting the records straight that she is not.


Tonto Dikeh: This eccentric, brash, actress and singer, has been accused of alot of things and bleaching is one of them. She has not addressed the rumour directly. She instead said she was "toning" not bleaching when she was interviewed on rubbing minds.

Nigerian politician and Naeto C's mum Mrs. Kema Chikwe revealed the laid back aspect of her when she  granted an interview recently. She talked about partying during her teenage years, how she tried to stop Naeto C from pursuing music and how she met her husband. Excerpts.........

 

On her teenage years and how she loved to party....

 “If there was a party, we would be very nice around the house four weeks before the date. Since informing him about the party was very difficult, my siblings would always nominate my sister, Ngozi, and myself to announce the party to him.  My father would be disappointed because he did not understand why children like us should be interested in parties. He would then start preaching to us but of course, since our minds were not on the sermon, we would continue to scheme, until he would finally agree. However, he would ask the driver to take us to the venue and wait for us.  On getting to the party venue, we would give the driver money to go home because if he waited, it meant we would go home after about one hour but if he went home, we would stay for as long as the party lasted.  My father was not easy to dribble but we always came up with excuses that would allow us the freedom we wanted. We would say we wanted to visit friends but we would all have a meeting point where all our friends from the various homes who had given their parents the same excuse would meet and proceed to the party venue.   All our parties were like Cinderella parties, at a particular time, we would all rush home.”

 

On how she met her husband............

“He was a diplomat based in France and my father  had invited him to our house because he wanted to give him a letter to deliver to my sister who was in  a university in France.  When he saw me, he told his parents that he had seen a girl he wanted to marry. With encouragement from his parents, his  family approached mine and that was how we got married. We did not date before then since it was unethical for a girl to expose herself to a man who wanted to marry her before the parents had given their consent.”

 

On how she tried to stop him from chasing music..............

“Naeto’s first degree was in Biology, we were in America then and he was supposed to be a medical doctor, but he was also very talented in poetry.  He started writing lyrics for his friends and I noticed that in between going to classes for exam into medical school, he would branch into the studio and I just did not like the studio idea.  I started chasing him around. My husband thought I was supporting him but I was not, I was pushing him away from music. I would go to the studio to try to stop him but he would disarm me with his charming ways and I would leave him alone,”.

One day, she fell in love with a particular music and had no idea her son was the singer. “I was in the car and I heard a very fine music on radio done in collaboration with Hugh Masekela of South Africa, I was enjoying the music so much that I instructed my driver to get me the CD.   At the same time, the radio announcer said the song was done by Naeto C in collaboration with Hugh Masekela. When I heard it, I was embarrassed because my driver knew that I was not supporting him,” she adds.

 

On reaping her reward and how proud she is of Naeto C.....

He is a son any mother would want.  In December, he bought me very expensive jewellery and said he had saved up some money to thank me for everything I did for him".

Is your wife comfortable with some of the roles you play?
A couple of times she told me she was not very comfortable with some actresses that I was paired with and I had to turn down the job. The peace and comfort of my home is more important than any movie role.

You were quoted as saying Omotola is your most favourite colleague, if circumstances were different, would you have married her?
I was pretty young when I first saw Omotola in ‘Thorns of Roses’ and liked her performance. After that, when I saw her in ‘Mortal Inheritance,’ I fell in love with her as a person because she gave a perfect interpretation to the character. Of course, if we were both single, I would have proposed to her.

When Tuface started out in music, the person who gave him a platform (and indeed what we know as our modern day music industry) was Kenny Ogungbe.

Unfortunately, when Tuface left the label, people speculated that their separation wasn't cordial. This gist was fuelled by the fact that neither Kenny Ogungbe nor any of the peeps from Primetime entertainment (his former label) were invited to Tuface's wedding.

Well, they have not been spotted publicly in a while, until now.

Gist has it that  Nollywood actresses Funke Akindele, Uche Jombo, Rita Dominic and Kate Henshaw are about to star in their own reality TV show. The show which  is being produced by Mo' Abudu's Excite TV will see them highlight the plight of women who have suffered the pain of domestic violence. The show is being shot in Tinapa, Cross Rivers state.

According to the Executive Producer and CEO, EbonyLife TV, Mo Abudu, “Our current filming will bring our viewers to that compelling intersection between entertainment and reality as we bring some of Nigeria’s most celebrated Nollywood Screen goddesses to highlight and fight the scourge of domestic abuse, an issue prevalent in the African, and indeed, Nigerian daily life, through Reality TV.”

According to what I heard on the news, the late actor died from complications arising from Diabetes........ a disease he has been secretly battling for a while. The actor was 71 years old.


Life is indeed funny. To think that he was in Benin on Friday consoling the Obsasekis over the death of their mum. Little did anyone know that death would also snatch him away soon. May his soul R.I.P.

Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has moved on from Yvonne Nwosu to another Yvonne, Yvonne Nelson. The pair have been spotted holding hands and they even attended a birthday party together. They are even working on a movie together.

Heir to family owned fashion label Missoni, Vittorio Missoni and his wife Maruizia are feared dead.
The director of the Italian fashion label is said to have been returning from a Christmas and New Year holiday with his wife and Italian business man Guido Foresti and his wife Elda Scalvenzi when the small aircraft he was travelling in vanished off the coast of Venezuela on Friday morning.

Vittorio co runs the brand with his siblings Angela and Luca. Two Venezuelan pilots were also on board, German Mechan, 72, and Juan Fernandez, 45. Word has it that Mr Missoni’s younger brother Luca, the company’s creative director, is travelling to Venezuela to help in the search.
Maddalena Aspes, a spokesman for Missoni, said: ‘The family has been informed by the Venezuelan consulate that Vittorio Missoni and his wife are missing.

'We don’t know any more.’ She added that relatives were travelling back to Italy from a holiday in France.

I am very single, I’m searching and ready to mingle. A lot of people brought up that sexuality issue. When you are in this industry, people tend to look for loopholes. I am just a sexual outlaw, very adventurous. People have judged from my dressing and my effeminate nature.

How would you describe your ideal woman?
I love heels on a woman, that is why I have a thing for models. I’ve dated a lot of models. I love to see women strut in heels. I love women who can strike up a very good conversation. I like someone I can go to the salon with and we are washing our hair together and she is not freaking out or saying what her friends are thinking of the fact that I’m under a dryer. I love a woman who has a good sense of style and not somebody who would try to change me. And also a woman who would not be threatened by the female friends that I have because I have loads of female friends.
