PROLOGUE

The night was cold and the air was moisty, the wind swept across the land gently, transporting some dry leaves from the ground of the forest occasionally. The leaves and branches of the high trees danced gently and made melody in their own way. The rhythm made by their movement makes one easily guess that the plants were having an old school party. Other inhabitants of the forests were not left behind in the celebration, the croaks of toads and squeaking of insects formed another melody. It was as if the living things had decided to break themselves into groups for this party, the animals formed one music band while the plants; trees and shrubs- formed another. Anyway it was obvious their different styles music didn't seem to disturb each other.

It continued for a long period until the weather began to change, the winds became more violent and desperate. The party of the plants had been disrupted, their slow happy dance turned into a violent scene. The branches and leaves of the different trees suddenly began to clash with each other, one would think that they had the intention of killing each other. Maybe something had gone wrong in their party, one of them might have gotten drunk and began to cause trouble. The animals were not left out in the fight, some rodents and bush animals could be seen running out occasionally from their hiding place in the bush, fighting each other for a prey or a piece of food substance. The croaks and noises from the insects became louder, but it wasn't melodious anymore. It became a harsh displeasing sound to the ear.

Soon, light appeared from a far end of the road and the forest suddenly turned quiet. Something about the light had hushed the noisemakers. The ground began to vibrate as the source of the light moved closer and the light became brighter. It was an heavy duty truck.

Cole got up from the bonnet of the car he was sitting on and adjusted the zip of his jacket properly. He also adjusted his headwarmer to cover his ears well before turning back towards the direction where the truck was coming from. He took out his phone and opened the tracker map, he saw the yellow dot at the same location as theirs, thereby confirming that it was their boss approaching.

'I think the Boss is here,' Cole said to Aisha who had just rolled down the window of the car and was about to ask him what was going on.

Aisha wind up the glass and then opened the door, then she took her head warmer from the backseat and stepped outside.

Soon, the truck got closer and parked behind their car. Cole and Aisha moved towards the front of the vehicle, they could see Tarasha through the front glass, she had her eyes closed and her head rested back tiredly. Cole tried to move towards the driver's side but then the door was opened and he couldn't pass as thick bushes were on the other side.

Tarasha jumped out of the vehicle two minutes later, she closed the door and moved to the front where Cole and Aisha were standing. Her face could be clearly seen due to the brightness of the full moon. She was putting on a shiny black jacket whose length went below her knees, her trouser was also of the same colour and texture.

'How long have you been waiting?' She asked in a strange voice, taking slow steps past them.

'Over two hours,' Cole replied shakily, there was something terrifying about the look in her eyes and voice.

He and Aisha had been thrown into surprise when they received the call earlier that day with the boss paying them off and asking them to live a good life, they were still contemplating on what to do and wondering what could have happened to their boss when Cole received another call, she was asking them to come back with a promise of tripling their previous pay. They were confused at the second call and didn't take any step until there was a third call, then she asked them to come and wait for her at their present location. It was at this third call that Cole began to guess what could be happening to their boss. Her voice at the first call had shown softness, the second time had shown a certain weakness but the third time her voice communicated anger and that was what it still communicated now, same with her eyes and whole body language. Cole concluded that something terrible must have really happened to her, but he thought it was concerning Henry.

They turned to the other side to face their boss at her new position, she had her back turned to them and her hands on her waist.

'Have you taken note of anything? Is there any place we could camp here tonight?' Tarasha asked.

'The abandoned houses here are not too suitable, I don't know if you'll like to stay in them overnight.' Cole said.

'There are abandoned houses?' She asked.

'Yes, there are.'

Tarasha closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, her brother's face flashed back into her mind. She could see him seated close to her in the bed, with smiles on their faces as they recalled their childhood events. Then she saw him in his pool of blood again, the bullet holes in his forehead with the diary in his hands. She remembered the page the diary was opened to, their mother had mentioned five Chiefs who were involved in making them leave Lagos to Borno in it. Chief Nasiru Attahiru, Chief Jubril Lawal, Chief Onwuli... The other names had been covered with a blood stain. She thought the men who sent her parents out of town deserved punishment but she was more desperate to kill all those who just killed her brother and also trace those who killed her family years ago led by Chief Rikau.

'We have some business to settle at the Kuje Maximum Security Prison before we start with our new tasks.' Tarasha said as she turned swiftly and walked back to her vehicle.

CHAPTER.
'i do not want another wife father!' Dike barked 'whats all this all about?! Another wife added to the batallion i have at home? Isnt that stupidity?'

Igwe Ikemba cleared his throat for the umpteenth time. He wondered why his son had refused to see reasons with him 'son, thats the tradition. As the crown prince of this community, you would have to do that. You'll be king one day and you'll rule'

'thats where you're greatly mistaken father. Because i will never be king. I will never rule. I've told you several times and i'm still telling you that i'm not interested in this throne, i'm fuckingly not interested! How many times will i tell you that?' Dike spoke angrily.

'be quiet son!' his mother, Lolo said in a fierce whisper 'you dont speak to your father that way'

'how else am i supposed to speak to him mother? For how long will i let this man here control my life? For goodness sakes, i am sick and tired of marrying women i do not love, women i do not understand nor know from anywhere!'

'son, its the tradition. Its tradition that you marry up to seven wives before you assume the throne of your father, the Igwe. Please try to understand. This is the last wife you'll be marrying i assure you. And we've already made preparations. And i'm sure you're going to like her. She studied abroad just like you. A professional nurse' His mother said.

'if indeed, she's a professional nurse, then why would she want to waste her time marrying someone like me? Doesnt she have anything better to do with her life?' He said looking at his mother.

'Dike!' His mother called.

'Dike' The Igwe said gruffly 'your marriage to this new maiden who just arrived her fatherland after spending so many years abroad is in 7days. And you're to prepare. Do not even think of messing with me son, because you know what i'm capable of'

Dike scoffed 'of course i know what you're capable of. And you equally know what i'm capable of. I also do hope you understand that there's nothing, i mean nothing thats going to make me marry that Godforsaken maiden! I, Dike Onuora Ikemba refuse to get married to her, whoever she is. And be lest assured father, that very soon, i'll get rid of the six demons you planted in my house, very soon' He glanced at his mother one more time, then picked up his car keys and left.

Igwe stared at Lolo 'are you seeing? Are you seeing it? Is this how you raised your son? To be disrespectful to his father?'

Lolo glanced at him 'whats the meaning of that Igwe? We raised him together didnt we?'

'are you talking back at me?'

Lolo stood up from her seat 'i'll be in my chambers now. If you need anything, call your other wives to get it for you' She started walking out of the throneroom.

'Lolo! Lolo! Ngozi! Come back here!' Igwe called but she walked out instead.

[quote author=everton4life post=54346572]EPISODE 1

A black maria zoomed along the highway in the late night, it’s noises loud enough to disturb the peace and serenity of the evening. The front and passenger seats were occupied two policemen who were gisting away, while the back was occupied by criminals who had just received judgment and sat in handcuffs. The air was filled with gloom as none of the criminals made any sound, each to his own thoughts.
“I swear to God, Arsenal na the most useless team I don see for my life” The cop who was driving cursed as his face squeezed in anger.
His comrade laughed hysterically as he beat his chest to steady himself. “ Na now you just know?”
“ Just to beat common Everton!!” the driver cried out. “the useless team throway the lead come lose again. Make wenger just commot that club jare. Him own don too much. After all, him no be the only coach wey exist. Other coaches dey available. Every season, them go give am correct transfer budget, he go dey buy useless players. Every season na the same story. Them go dey win match in the beginning of season. When December reach, then go come dey do like fools.”
“O boy, you dey vex o” His comrade laughed again at the pissed off look of his friend. “But you no be arsenal fan, na. why the tin dey pepper you for body?”
“THE FOOLS SPOIL MA TICKET NA!” The driver cried out angrily. “ 2.7 million naira for that matter. Them be the last team for my ticket”
“Say God” His friends eyes went wide at the sound of the amount. It made sense now. “Oh boy, that kind thing dey burn chest.”
“Na me you dey tell?” The driver turned at a bend and zoomed on, The road was now free and there were thick bushes by either side.
“Why you think say I dey vex since” he continued as his grip tightened on the steering wheel. He was about to add another remark when he suddenly pressed his feet on the break making the vehicle stop abruptly. His sudden actions was caused by a figure who had suddenly emerged from the bush and stood in the middle of the road, blocking any further movements from the vehicle.
It was Luke.
And the smile on his face definitely signaled trouble.
“Who be this idiot wey block road, na? see as he almost cause accident” The driver said angrily as he pressed the car horn repeatedly to get ward luke off, but luke didn’t budge.”
“Shey, oya werey ni” The other cop spat as he jumped off the vehicle. He pulled out his gun and moved towards Luke who shook his head in mock pity.
“Mortals and their guns” He mused as he saw the approaching policeman.
“Oga, wetin dey worry you na?!!” the policeman shouted as he stood a few inches away from Luke. “ Shey you drink, ni? Commot from this road jare before I blast your head.”
Luke said nothing, the smile still plastered on his face.
“You think I dey play?” The police was angry now, he cocked his gun. “ If them send you, just know say..”
That was his last words. Before he could finish his sentence, and faster than the speed of lightening, Luke delivered an earth shattering punch to his skull. The punch took his head clean off his body and sent it flying into the bush.
“JESUS!!” The driver screamed in horror as he watched his comrade’s headless body collapse into a useless heap by luke’s feet. In a mode of panic, he alighted from the vehicle and pointed his gun at Luke.
“FREEZE!!” His voice betrayed his pathetic act of bravery as it was shaky. “ Put your hands in the air and don’t move”
Luke raised an eyebrow. “ Seriously?”. He shrugged and walked towards the police man. The policeman fired a warning shot at the ground near luke’s feet. Luke ignored it and continued moving towards him. The policeman fired again, this time hitting luke at the his left thigh and stopping him momentarily. A red spot appeared on luke’s jeans signaling the flow of blood. Luke smiled and took out the bullet from his thigh, throwing it away. He stood upright and glanced at the policeman who was stunned.
“Ouch, that hurt” Luke pouted, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “ Are you done?”
The policeman in panic, turned to flee but suddenly ran into Chris who appeared from nowhere, a little too late. Chris swiftly punched a hole into his chest and brought out his heart. A loud gasp was heard before he fell down, lifeless.
“Oops” Chris chuckled, throwing the heart away. “That was so ‘HEARTLESS’ of me” He laughed hysterically at his own pun.
Luke rolled his sighed at his son’s childishness. “ You know, there is no pleasure in a swift death. It’s more fun when you watch the fear in your prey’s eyes before you take his life.”
“But you just swiftly took down the other guy” Chris replied dryly.
Luke ignored that and the duo moved to the back of the van. Luke nodded to his son and Chris ripped off the door in one swift move. The inside revealed the criminals who had panicked looks on
