Former Manchester United midfielder Anderson has been ordered to serve prison time for failing to pay £45,000 in child maintenance.

The 36-year-old retired footballer, who won four Premier League titles with Manchester United, has been given an ultimatum by a family court judge in his hometown of Porto Alegre, Brazil.

The shocking event unfolded after the family judge ordered him to pay the owed amount or face 30 days behind bars last week.

Daily Mail confirmed the report stating that Anderson, who also played for Fiorentina and Internacional during his career, could find himself behind bars at the Irmao Miguel Dario Prison in Porto Alegre unless he settles his debt.

Italian football legend Roberto Baggio was reportedly struck on the head with the butt of a gun and detained in a room while watching the Italy-Spain game.

Several reports claiming that Roberto Baggio was a victim of a terrifying home invasion on Thursday night, June 20, while watching the Italy vs Spain match in the European Championship with his family.

The 57-year-old, who resides in Altavilla Vicentina in northern Italy, was robbed and beaten at gunpoint by a group of five armed individuals who barged into his villa.

Reports indicate that Baggio bravely tried to confront the burglars, resulting in him being struck on the head with the butt of a gun.

He and his family were then confined to a room while the perpetrators ransacked their home, making off with valuable items such as jewelry, watches, and cash.

After the burglars fled, Baggio managed to break free from the room and alert the authorities.

He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital in Arzignano where he received stitches for his head injury. Thankfully, his family members escaped unharmed from the traumatic ordeal.

AC Milan have appointed Portuguese tactician Paulo Fonseca as their new manager following the exit of Stefano Pioli by mutual consent after the expiration of the 2023/24 season.

Fonseca has signed a three-year deal with the Rossoneri, and this will keep him at the San Siro at least until 2027.

Paulo Fonseca was previously in charge of French side Lille between 2022 and 2024, with the 51-year-old leading the club to a 4th-placed league finish in the 2023/24 season.

The former FC Porto boss also departed Lille by mutual consent after they missed out on an automatic ticket to the UEFA Champions League.

Paulo Fonseca replaces Pioli, who led AC Milan to the Serie A title in the 2021/22 season for the first time in 11 years.

It will be fascinating to see how Fonseca will rally the Italian giants, who finished the 2023/24 Serie A season in 2nd with 75 points, 19 points behind eventual winners and rivals Inter Milan.

Paulo Fonseca has experience managing in Italy, having in the past tutored AS Roma between 2019 and 2021.

Arsenal and France centre-back William Saliba has spoken highly of himself after an improved campaign with Arsenal in the Premier League.

In an interview with L’Equipe while on international duty with France for Euro 2024, the prolific defender boasted he is among the top three defenders in the Premier League.

On why he categorized himself among the best the Premier League produced last season, the 23-year-old said his team, Arsenal, had the best defence in the campaign.

Saliba’s mastery of his craft and defensive skills were more glaring when Arsenal battled Manchester City in the Premier League return leg at Etihad. The France international and Magalhaes bottled Manchester City’s most feared attacker, Erling Haaland, limiting the Norwegian to 0 shots on target.

After the game, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was seen in a strong conversation with Gabriel Magalhaes, apparently giving the player a pat for a brilliant showing at Etihad. Saliba particularly referenced Manchester City in his rave reviews of Arsenal’s insurmountable defence in the 2023-24 campaign.

Chelsea have made their first summer signing under new manager Enzo Maresca, bringing in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a four-year deal.

Italian transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the 26-year-old joined Chelsea as a free agent and became the first signing under manager Enzo Maresca.

The former England youth international of Nigerian descent Tosin will officially join Chelsea on July 1 after his Fulham contract expires.

Olympique Marseille forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has opened up on his toxic fallout with Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta in 2022.

Aubameyang left Arsenal for Barcelona in February 2022 following a clash with Mikel Arteta. He was the Gunners’ skipper but was stripped of the captain’s armband and frozen out of the squad before he left for Barcelona.

At the heart of the fallout between Pierre-Emile Aubameyang and Mikel was a report of the Gabonese’s prearranged trip to see his mother.

It was at the peak of the COVID-19 Pandemic. And the former Chelsea forward was said to have been held back from returning in time due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Following his return, there was no way back for Aubameyang in Arsenal. After tense and a sour relationship with Arteta, he had to leave, reaching a mutual agreement to end his stay at the London outfit.


While there have been various angles to the narrative, Aubameyang has finally spoken on what actually transpired.

”He tells me no problem.’

”I arrive, the coach finishes his meeting, and then he grabs me and completely tears into me,’ Aubameyang continued. ‘He shouts at me like I’m crazy.

”He says: “You put a knife in my back. You can’t do that to me, given the times we’re going through.”

”At that moment, I tell myself that I’m not going to answer him because it’s going to end angrily.

”I didn’t go partying. He knows very well the reason for my departure so at that moment I don’t understand why he is lecturing me like this. I go home and the doctor calls me and says “Tomorrow, the coach doesn’t want you to be there.”‘

”The days pass and the doctor tells me: “Look, he doesn’t want you to be with the group anymore, but you will be able to come and train but separately.”

”I say to myself OK… And then afterwards, he calls me and we have a meeting so he can explain to me that one, he’s taking away the captain’s armband, and two, I’m not training any more with the group.’

”again, (Arteta) explains why he is against me during this period when it was complicated for the club,’ the 34-year-old added.

”That I have to be an example and that I couldn’t do that. At that moment, I said, “I admit that I have my share of responsibility, but the real cause I think you can understand if you are a little bit human. You can understand my move.”

”After that, it was over, I stayed for a month training on my own while waiting for the break.

Aubameyang ended his contract with Arsenal after the fallout and left for Barcelona. He suffered a setback in the Barcelona starting eleven and returned to London with Chelsea midway through the campaign

It was still a dark end for the 34-year-old who was later axed out of the club in the wake of Todd Boehly’s overhaul. After a disappointing spell with three of the best European outfits, Aubameyang has now settled with Marseille where he has scored 17 Ligue 1 goals with 8 assists, including 10 Europa League goals with 3 assists in his first season.

Three of Harry Kane children have been taken to the hospital as a precaution after they were involved in a car crash in Germany.

The car crash occurred after the English striker had flew to London for a Bayern Munich Champions League encounter against Arsenal.

The crash happened at around 5:15 p.m. on April 8, 2024, in Bavaria, near Munich. A 20-year-old Renault driver crashed into the back of a black Mercedes Vito as he attempted to turn into the slip on the motorway.

Three of Harry Kane’s children, Ivy, Vivienne, and Louis, who were all in the black Mercedes Vito were sent to the hospital.

According to different reports, none of the children suffered injuries, and they only went to the hospital for their routine checkup.

It was believed that Harry Kane’s wife, Katie, and his seven-month-old baby, Henry, were not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd edition of the FIFA World Cup and will be the first jointly hosted by three member associations. It will take place in North America – the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

A total of 80 matches will be played. Canada and Mexico will host 10 matches each, while the United States will host the remaining 60 games, including all matches from the quarterfinal and beyond.

While Mexico will become the first county to host the tournament three times, Canada will be hosting it for the first time, and the USA will host it for the second time.

2022 World Cup semifinalist Morocco would have been the second African country to host the World Cup, but they lost their bid to the USA.

Football fans and pundits are looking forward to the first World Cup trophy that will be contested by a total of 48 teams from all the six confederations that are members of FIFA.

80 matches will be played, and the number of teams in each group will be reduced to three. Instead of eight groups, the three teams per group will spread to 16 groups.

Szymon Marciniak, a Polish referee, will preside over the 2022 World Cup final between France and Argentina at 16:00 on Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Marciniak will make history by being the first Polish official to oversee a World Cup final. He will be aided by Pawe Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz.

Anthony Taylor, who is still in Qatar, and Michael Oliver, who was expelled by FIFA, will be hurt by Marciniak’s appointment.

Pierluigi Collina, the head of FIFA referee, chose Marciniak for Sunday’s World Cup final at Lusail Stadium, according to Sports Center.

Collina believed the 41-year-old was the strongest candidate for the position because of his impressive accomplishments at the tournament in Qatar.

In the group stages, Marciniak officiated France’s 2-1 victory over Denmark and Argentina’s 2-1 triumph over Australia in the Last 16.

Marciniak has presided over matches all over the globe, including Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in 2020.

Yesterday, 28 of November 2019, the media space and indeed the fans of the Nigerian music industry heave a sigh of relief over the lingering crisis between former bandmates 2face Idibia (2Baba) and Blackface.

Backface was the first to give a hint that the crisis between him and 2baba was over. He shared a picture on his Instagram account standing between his two lawyers appreciating them for their support and service.

Shortly after, he released an apology later to 2Baba saying that he has revoked all the allegations of intellectual property theft and career sabotage he made against 2baba and Efe Omorogbe, the manager of 2baba. He swore never to make such utterances again.

The background of the tussle
Blackface and 2Baba have been at war of words which later led to litigations. Blackface used to accuse 2baba that he stole his songs “Africa Queen” and “Let Somebody Love”. He also called 2face a gay and fake.

These and more prompted 2baba to slam 50 million Naira lawsuit against him. However, after their court appearance on Wednesday, 27 November 2019, the tune of the crisis changed. The duo agreed on an out-of-court settlement.

In line with that, Blackface wrote: “Having consulted with my Solicitors, I do hereby revoke all allegations of intellectual property theft and career sabotage previously made against Mr Innocent Idibia and Mr Efe Omorogbe.

“These statements were erroneously made under misapprehension as to their accuracy, due to prevailing circumstances at the time. I have been advised on the inaccuracy of my previous allegations and retract them entirely.

“I undertake to refrain from making any such subsequent statements against the persons of Mr Innocent Idibia and Mr Efe Omorogbe in future”.

To that effect, 2baba said in a statement that he and his team have accepted the apology and subsequently dropped all charges against Blackface.

He said: “I’m happy and relieved that this matter has been settled and Efe Omorogbe and I are satisfied with the outcome. I can’t thank family, friends and fans enough for their steadfast love and support. Thanks also to our lawyer, Mr Justin Ige. Blessings to one and all. God bless Blackface too. Time to move on.”

One thing Twitter users in Nigeria are very good at is to compare people no matter their uniqueness and style. Today, the took their comparison to the three brightest young musicians in Nigeria – Fireboy, Rema and Joeboy.

These three singers are considered as the future of Nigeria music industry because of their input in the industry so far and their ages. For instance, Rema is just 19 years old and has won a couple of awards and has released over two EP.

Joeboy who is a product of Mr Eazi’s Empawa is just 22 years old and has an album to his credit and a couple of award nominations. Ditto Fireboy Dml who just dropped his debut album this month and has also won a couple of awards and nominations. He is currently on a music tour in Kenya and he is 23 years old.

The three youngsters have their unique styles which can appeal to different segments of the music industry. For instance, Fireboy describes his kind of sound as Afro life which is often soulful.

Joeboy does what most people refer to as Afro-pop; while Rema does more grooving style of music some critics describe as Afro Trap and sometimes Afro-pop.

The argument is that the versatility of Rema and the sound management team behind him gives him an edge over other contemporaries.

However, some believe that Joeboy and Fireboy are better than Rema especially when it comes to content or lyrical weight of their songs.

In conclusion, Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy and the rest took the industry from the hands of 2face Idibia, D’banj and the defunct music band Psquare. Only time can tell whether this trio of youngsters would take over the industry completely when the time comes.

Nigerian fast-rising singer, Fireboy DML has finally released his much-awaited album titled “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps”.

He had the album’s listening party last night and the boss of his label, indigenous rapper Olamide Badoo was on ground to support him.

Olamide did not come alone, he came along with his superstar friends StarBoy Wizkid and fellow rapper, Phyno Fino.

In a viral video taken from the album listening party, the three superstars – Wizkid, Olamide and Phyno, were ‘vibing’ to one of the hit songs on the album “King”.

They sang along with the audience and the rave of the moment like regular fans just having fun.

“Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps” is a 13-track album which would take approximately 40 minutes to listen to. Its official release date is 25 of November 2019 under Olamide’s imprint ‘YBNL Nation’.

The most interesting part of the album is that it is completely the voice of Fireboy. He didn’t feature any artist on the album.
