Can I get the tourist visa, look for a job within this period, and further my stay in the state, kindly advice a young naija brother seeking to run out of naija
.

No!

You will end up spending alot of money and not working.

To work anywhere in the USA, you must present your USA issued social security number and an id.

Tourism visa cannot provide any of those.

Congrats@op.Hoping to join you soon, but still contemplating between NYC and Atlanta.
.

I have not been to atlanta and NYC, but have heard they are great places.
Information about all USA states are everywhere on Google.
You can search on both and know which you would end up gunning for.

Yes,I think it depends on the state too, here in Nevada so many job seekers and few jobs, alot of people migrating from California because of cost of living but the amount of jobs don't really match.
.

I think that should be the case

I feel you bro just keep pushing, if i may ask what kind of jobs are you applying for and hope your resume has at least one American Experience.
.

One major mistake I try to always avoid here is that of insincerity.

I learnt its even a crime here.
How then can I fill to have job experiences in America when I'm barely a month here.

In my resume, I had to neatly put in all relevant job experiences I had in Nigeria, together with the company names and even addresses.

I wouldn't want to shoot myself on the foot, it doesn't pay.

really? It took me a while to get an interview after numerous applications, infact I got my job from craigslist cheesy

Most big shots here are looking for people that will fix in for the season peak.
They need much people to fill up some good positions that are left vacant because of the much workload during the December/January period.

The applications are not really that deficult and the interviews mostly are majorly for formalities.

I even had to turn down the offer from amazon because its just very far from my location.

It's just very amazing how after an interview, you are notified of your job employment option in less than 24hours.
Organisation is good.

reminded me of my own experience in 2017. Took Ethiopian airline to IAD, nice experience. The funny thing is that when we landed at IAD people started clapping kinda odd.

Same with my flight when we landed in Washington DC.

The clapping is normal, I think.
It's not easy flying a plane for long hours and making a successful landing. The clap is a sign of thank you for doing your job perfectly.

And someone told me today that to get USA visa is nearly impossible for youths, that I should try Canada instead, Pls how true is this?
.

No country visa is impossible to get.
Else it's not human being that reside in the country.

When it comes to USA, the difficulty in obtaining a visa is dependent on the type of visa, be it tourist, student or immigration.

Seems to me like EVABLAZE moved with his family to the U.S on a tourist Visa. Which is why he has not once expounded on how he came about to becoming an immigrant in the U.S. People with this sort of thread usually share what method of immigration they took advantage of early in the thread.

As usual, this method of immigration is never advisable. You'll be living and looking over your shoulder the rest of your time there till ICE catches up with you then we get to hear a sorry story about a helpless African family with young kids seeking refugee status. Moreover it makes getting a tourist visa even more difficult for those who genuinely just want to visit the U.S and return.

I do not celebrate this if OP ends up staying there illegally past the 6 months timeline for a tourist Visa.
.

Tough talk man!
Take a seat and observe still.

Pls let's let this thread flourish.

The intention is to share opportunities and experiences about living in the United States of America which on its own has its challenges and to equally help people who have interest in coming to the USA by providing them the needed tips and answering such questions that would help save them from first time mistakes.
It's not only business people come here to do, good(best) schools are here too.

This thread was never created to mock Nigeria or make you believe Nigeria is the worst.
I wouldn't propagate hate speech.

Let's just stick to helping than condemning.
If I happen to post some contents that are against social laws, once you alert me, I will immediately pull it down, but coming to tell me your networth is annoying. I might have had more than you in Nigeria before leaving, but you will never see me debate that.

Propagating living in Nigeria because you have 500m in the account will only make those who don't have it want to leave even more quickly, and I must tell you, their are just too many of them.

Peace.

Then on the issue of sending money to people in the USA from Nigeria, I don't know where you borrow your lesson notes from, but that'sike the most incredible thing to do.

You need to change over #10, 000 just to be able to send someone in the USA 30dollars and that might not be enough for transport and feeding in 2days

Saying you have a net worth of over 500million naira is really amazing, but then, how many Nigerians have such inheritance?

How many even have 1% of it.

Being proud to even say u will pay someone #40, 000 in 30days and beating your chest about it is insulting.

That's like what the lowest earners here earn in a day of active work.

You can stay in Nigeria and make it.

But when you try to draw comparism between the making sufficient money over their in Nigeria and in USA, you will ignorantly be insulting a perfectly situated economy.

The most menial jobs in any state in the USA pays a minimum wage of 10dollars par hour.

So a cleaner here in the USA who works for say 10hrs in a day pockets roughly 100dollar in a days job.

You can check what that is in your almighty currency.

Nigeria still has an economy that's struggling to stand, don't insult USA by making such comparism.

Choosing to establish in Nigeria is a good decision for those it favors.
But then, even your politicians still provide dual citizenship to their kids despite the fat envelopes they take in daily.

Earlier today, I paid an unplanned visit to the popular FOODWAY mega GROCERY.
Here you can get virtually all international foods, fruits and drinks.
Have been down on malaria and wasn't too strong for the American Thanksgiving celebration on Thursday and as a result couldn't take active part in it.
So today, I had to have my own Thanksgiving feeling. I bought enough Fruits.

I wouldn't delve into the discussion about which of Nigeria and USA is better, someone who has or maybe claims to have been in Nigeria and then USA should be able to tell himself/herself the truth. Ihe agba na aka, anaghi eji onyio ele ya.

What works for A might never work for B.

Setting down in the USA

One of the Hardest things about very long distance travels, is the issue of eventual settling down, especially when you must have spent virtually the rest of your living in a particular space with a totally different thinking pattern, culture, economy etc.

The white man is very brilliant, they have set their environment top-notch, having almost everything running on its own.
Here you don't get to see the traffic control officers stay at the roadside just to wave you left or right as obtainable in Nigeria, no one has that time, but somehow everyone just behaves well on the roads. You wouldn't want to break any traffic laws. Cameras are stationed at every corner and would capture even the smallest of road mistakes and tickets would be sent to your home mail address ASAP.
I Have never seen old women sweeping the roads but it's always neat.

The government has astonishingly numerous revenue yielding options here and all were carefully set such that you just can't avoid them.
The government supplies uninterrupted electricity, water, cooking gas, etc to each home through a central supply system and you pay for using virtually all these just as your monthly pay cheque drops.
When u park your car at any parking space(legally provided) you have to pay for the limited time the vehicle will be parked their and once it exceeds the time, it will be tolled off and you have to pay additional tolling fee to get back your car.

The government ensures you get paid well enough for your work just so you can pay them well enough in taxes and utilities.

I also observed that the police here enjoys a great deal of authority and they do their work with utmost pride. Their approach just wouldn't give you a reason to think about ROJA.

Lastly, today is the much talked about THANKSGIVING DAY. Smells much like Christmas here.
I still don't know reason for Thanksgiving day, maybe someday I will..

Are people being vetted properly before they are issued visas? How can the current system be improved?

It all depends on the type of visa being applied for.
Some are basically easier to acquire than others
