Age might be just a number, but the number of pounds 78-year-old Shirley Webb can deadlift is impressive to say the least.

That number is 225—yes, 225 pounds.

And her form is impeccable.

Webb has set deadlifting age- and weight-group records in Illinois and Missouri, with a 237-pound mark in Illinois and 215 pounds in Missouri.

Webb started lifting two years ago, when she joined a local gym with her granddaughter. Not long before that, she had been unable to climb stairs without holding on to the railing.

"I have no intention of stopping right now," Webb said. "When I go to the gym and work out, when I leave, I feel so much better than I did when I went in, and I just feel so good. I feel tremendous."

Khloé Kardashian turned the spotlight on herself on Wednesday’s episode of her chat show as she admitted that she loves to watch pornography while also dishing on her love life.

The 31-year-old reality star while hosting Kocktails With Khloe said that she ‘never wanted to get a divorce’ from Lamar Odom and that he’s ‘set the bar’ for all her relationships.

The reality star opened the show with a new segment she called Konfronting The Rumor and then proceeded to talk about herself.

After showing headlines reporting the end of her recent romance with James Harden, she confirmed they had indeed split.

She also claimed that she and French Montana were not reuniting, despite the suggestions of headlines and instead were just spending time together.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Dino Melaye, mocked the Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, on Wednesday, while contributing to a motion seeking the need to patronise products made in Nigeria.

Melaye, who is from Kogi-West senatorial district, while contributing to the motion by Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, which advocated the need to patronise products made in Nigeria, took a swipe at Oshiomhole, saying Nigerians should not emulate the governor whom he said opted not to “patronise ‘Made-in-Nigeria women’ but a foreign one”.

Melaye was referring to Iara, the wife of Oshiomhole, whom he married from Cape Verde in the Southern African region.

He, therefore, advised Nigerians not to only patronise goods made in Nigeria, but also made-in-Nigeria women.

He said, “I want to celebrate the ‘Made-in-Nigeria senator’ for bringing up this motion. In considering goods produced in Nigeria, we must look at the enabling factors that will necessitate the goods.

“It is beyond having one made in Nigeria attire and having over 70 designers’ attires in your wardrobe. We must reduce the allocation for made-in-Nigeria goods and services to the basics.

“What are those factors limiting the production of these goods? We must tackle them. We must also begin to look at our legislation, then we will begin to talk about made-in-Nigeria goods.

“We will also move in order to encourage made-in-Nigeria products and begin to talk about made-in-Nigeria women.

“Apologies to my uncle, the Governor of Edo State, we must as a people stop paying dowries in dollars and pounds. It is time for my colleagues here to become born again.”

Mood in the school.

Parents of pupils of Babington Macaulay Junior Seminary School, a private school in the Ikorodu area of Lagos, have blamed the abduction of three schoolgirls of the college on security lapses in the school.

BMJSS is a co-educational secondary school owned by the Lagos Anglican Diocese.

The parents lamented that the low perimeter fence of the school and inadequate presence of security personnel at the hostel end, where the pupils were abducted, posed little or no barrier to the hoodlums.

Despite that the schoolgirls were kidnapped on Monday night and the information had been widely circulated, neither the Lagos State governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, nor his representatives had visited the school as of 8pm on Tuesday.

The state government had also yet to make a statement on the abduction.

It was learnt that the pupils were studying in the Science and Technology Block for their examinations near the hostel around 8pm on Monday when the gunmen, said to be about 15 in number, stormed the premises, shooting sporadically.

The bandits, one of whom was said to be masked, were reported to have been resisted by some male students.

The students, however, had to beat a retreat when the hoodlums inflicted machete cuts on one of the male students.

The arrival of the school’s security men, who joined the students, forced the invaders to flee.

Nsikak Tommy.

A Chinese worker, identified as Njaga Chang, has cut off one of the right fingers of his Nigerian colleague at the Xin Xin Quarry in Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The 23-year-old Nigerian victim, Nsikak Tommy, was said to have incurred the wrath of the Chinese for failing to quickly turn on the generator at the quarry site.

Chang was said to have initially attacked Tommy with a water hose but later resorted to the use of machete when the victim took to his heels.

Narrating the incident to Southern City News on Sunday, an eyewitness, Ene Bassey, said the Chinese was quickly taken away to an unknown destination in Calabar after the incident happened.

The Supreme Court, Friday morning dismissed the appeal filed by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, where he requested that the Code of Conduct Tribunal, CCT, be stopped from trying him.

Delivering the judgement, Justice Walter Onnoghen led 6 man panel of judges dismissed Saraki’s appeal, stating that it lacks merit.

DAILY POST reports that the CCT had recently accused Saraki of false declaration of assets upon his assumption of office as the Senate President.

A Deputy Director in the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, M.S.Hassan had on September 11, 2015 filed a 13- count corruption charge against Saraki, among which the Senate President was accused of making false declaration of assets on assumption of office as governor of Kwara state in 2003.

Secretary of the Ekiti state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Temitope Aluko on Sunday opened a can of worms as he gave an insider account of how the military was used to rig the 2014 Ekiti State governor election that Ayo Fayose won under PDP.

Aluko, who was the Chief Returning Officer and signed the results for the election, also disclosed how former President Goodluck Jonathan, gave Fayose $37 million cash to prosecute the governorship election.

The embattled Secretary of the Ekiti state chapter of PDP, made the disclosure in Abuja, stressed that he was forced to come forward with the revelations because Fayose betrayed him and derailed from the original plan they had for the development of the state.

Aluko had also testified in camera before the military panel that investigated the role of the military in the Ekiti election.

A jealous boyfriend has been jailed for drowning his girlfriend’s puppy in scalding hot bathwater after claiming she gave the dog too much attention.

Anthony Bruce, 19, drowned Old English Sheepdog Benji in the bath after months of tormenting the dog behind his girlfriend’s back because he was jealous about the time she dedicated to her pet.

Lauren Brattle, 18, of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, was oblivious to what her controlling boyfriend was doing to her six-month-old puppy until the day he confessed to killing her beloved dog.

Bruce was sentenced to 16 weeks in a Young Offender Institution at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in December and banned from owning animals for life.

Ms Brattle now says she wants nothing more to do with her former partner, and claims she should have listened to her nan who ‘always said he had evil in his eyes’.

She said: ‘Anthony killed Benji because he knew how much he meant to me. That puppy was like a son to me.

‘Anthony thought that by killing him he could control me. But now he is the one who is losing control, and I am moving on with my life.

Jose Mourinho believes he can deliver the title to Manchester United next season.

Louis van Gaal is on the brink of being sacked after United’s 1-0 loss to Southampton left them five points off the Barclays Premier League’s top four and 10 behind leaders Leicester.
