Speaking to government officials at the State House in Abuja, Buhari said:“I couldn’t recall being so sick since I was a young man, including in the military with its ups and downs”. The president also said he could not recall the last time he had a blood transfusion. Buhari, however, stressed that with or without him, Nigeria will continue. Buhari expressed gratitude to Nigerians for all the prayers and show of goodwill, pledging to rededicate himself to the service of the nation. Addressing the country from the State House, shortly after arriving from London, President Buhari said he was fully committed to serving the nation and protecting the right of all Nigerians. ‘‘I am deeply grateful to all Nigerians, Muslims and Christians alike who have prayed and have continued to pray for my good health. ‘‘This is a testimony that in spite of the hardship being experienced, Nigerians support the government in its effort to tackle our country’s challenges,’’the president said. According to Premium Times, he said his health had improved significantly, following the medical attention he received during his vacation in London. “The best way for me to repay you is to rededicate myself to serving you, protecting your interest and keeping your trust. I thank you very much. “I am feeling much better now. There may, however, be need for further follow up within some weeks,’’he stated. In his remark, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said it was satisfying for Nigerians and the Federal Executive Council to receive the President back in the country “hale and hearty’’. “It is a day of joy not only for us but for the whole country, Africa and the world. Your arrival has vindicated our position that you will return safely,’’he said. Due to the death of his sister, a young Nigerian guy, Udummiri Nwakalu took to his Facebook wall to insult Jesus Christ because of his sister’s death. The young man posted the picture of his late sister and accused Jesus of not being able to apprehend those who killed her. He said: “That’s my sister, she was murdered in 2011. The people who killed her were lucky I was still a Christian then, I left the case to useless Jesus who couldn’t do anything to the murderers.” This post has generated several negative comments on his page. However, while going his page this young man has also said another negative thing about Jesus Christ after seeing a picture of how a man’s face exploded for allegedly cutting the bible and using it to smoke. Apple's laptops rank highest in reliability, according to the latest Consumer Reports survey, as they have in previous years. According to 58,000 laptop owners who also revealed how laptops tend to fail and what it costs to fix them. Why Apple is still No 1. We estimated that only 10 percent of Apple laptops fail by the third year of ownership. The numbers for Windows laptop brands range from 16 percent to 19 percent. In addition, Apple laptops break down less often than laptops from other brands. Among laptops that fail, only 42 percent of Apples break down more than once, while more than half (55 percent) of non-Apple laptops break down on multiple occasions. Older laptops, and more frequently used laptops, fail more often. The median brand-failure rate by the third year of ownership is 18 percent. And the great majority of the reported problems are considered serious or catastrophic. While Apple laptops break down less frequently than Windows machines, the fixes are pricier, on average. Among repairs that Apple laptop owners pay for out of pocket, almost a third cost $300 or more-more than three times the expense for Windows-based laptops. That's one reason why we recommend buying an extended warranty when you purchase an Apple laptop. (Read below.) Also, for most laptop brands, the longer you use your computer each day, the more likely it is to have problems. Once again, Apple is an exception: Although Apple laptops are used more than other brands-an average 23 hours per week compared to the average of 20 hours per week for all laptops-they remain the most reliable brand. What about that extended warranty? Sixteen percent of Windows-based laptop owners buy a service contract or extended warranty. Apple users far exceed this, with 36 percent buying an extended warranty. That makes sense, since Apple offers only a three-month warranty, while most other companies offer a year of free protection. In addition, Apple is well known for providing great technical support and helpful Genius Bars to go along with those warranties. The bottom line. Apple laptops can cost a lot more than many Windows models. But our survey shows you can use Apple models more and they'll still fail less. And although repairs for those MacBooks are often more expensive, buying an extended warranty for an Apple laptop means you'll likely pay less out of pocket to get it fixed, and you'll get great tech support on top of that. In the end, according to our survey, 71 percent of Apple laptop owners are completely satisfied with the reliability of their computers, compared with 38 percent of all other laptop owners. A breathless 43,000 adults have been rushed to hospital after suffering an asthma attack during sex, a study suggests. Patients report difficulties breathing while performing MouthAction and killing the mood by breaking off from their romp to use an inhaler. Over two in three sufferers (68 per =cent) say their sex lives have been directly affected by the condition. And 73 percent have been left feeling embarrassed after taking their inhaler on a romantic night out, a survey of 544 people by Asthma UK reveals. Almost half (46 percent) said they would be more sexually confident if they did not have the respiratory disease. Some have reduced the amount of sex they have or stopped having it altogether after getting frisky made their condition worse. And two in three (64 percent) say perfume or scented candles have triggered symptoms. Others have suffered a reaction to latex in condoms or strong-smelling flowers. Comments shared with the charity for their "Asthma and Your Love Life" survey include: "I've ended up in hospital because an orgasm set off my asthma." |

If you browse the Internet at all, you've run into targeted ads. You'll be looking at a product on one site, and then you'll see an ad for it right away on another site. We've seen situations where a YouTube video will play an ad for the site you just opened in another browser tab. Creepy! Let's look at how it works and how you can stop it. How it works Most websites get their ads from ad networks. Each ad network puts a bit of code called a "cookie" on your computer. When you visit one of the member sites, the site recognizes the cookie and lets the ad network know where you are so it can send you personalized ads. Every "like," news story click, status update and photo caption you put in Facebook is a bit of information that advertisers would love to add to your file. And you'd be surprised how much money it can make them. In 2013, online tracking and targeted advertising helped Internet advertisers rake in a staggering $42.8 billion. In 2014, that climbed to $49.45 billion - a 15 percent jump. How to stop the tracking To opt out of Facebook showing you targeted ads from other sites, or from seeing Facebook's ads on other sites, open your Facebook page and click the upside-down triangle in the upper right corner. Select "Settings" and then in the left-hand column select "Ads." You'll see the new "Ads based on my use of websites and apps" setting. Click the "Edit" link, and then click the "Choose Setting" button and select "Off." You have to do this only once and it will apply to every gadget where you sign in with the same Facebook username. Now, this won't stop Facebook from showing you targeted ads based on information it collects about you. But it won't get any of your information from its partners, and it shouldn't send any of your information to advertisers. While you're in the ad settings area, you'll also want to change "Ads with my social actions" to "No one" so Facebook can't use your name in advertising. You can also change your preferences to control what kind of ads Facebook shows you. You can read more here: http://technology.foxnews.mobi/quickPage.html?page=43865&content=114261778&pageNum=-1 |
PRISTINEMUSCLES:we still need to be cautious of our doings |
Unless you've been diagnosed with terminal illness (or one of these 5 deadliest diseases), chances are you don't spend a lot of time thinking about how many days you have left on this planet. While contemplating your mortality might motivate you to live a fulfilling life, it can also be kind of creepy and depressing. So it's understandable that you prefer to push it to the back of your mind. That said, deep down, you know you aren't going to live forever. How long do you actually have? No one knows for sure, but there are some signs that can help you figure it out. Here are 9 factors that suggest you may be better off preplanning your funeral than saving for retirement (unless you change your ways). 1. Your parents or grandparents expired early. Ok, so this one is out of your hands, but your genes are pretty important. How important? "This very question has been looked at in many studies-especially twin studies, where twins had different lifestyles. We now know that for humans, genes have a 25% influence on longevity," says Sharad P. Paul, MD, author ofThe Genetics of Health: Understand Your Genes for Better Health. The flip side, of course, is that 75% of factors that control lifespan have nothing to do with your DNA, so you shouldn't assume that you'll live to 100 (or drop dead at 50) just because that's what happened to Grandma. Most experts believe that you have the power to alter the genetic hand you've been dealt, for better or worse. 2.You don't take your job too seriously. Workaholics may be doomed by stress, but if you don't work hard or take any pride in what you do you could be in even more trouble. Researchers for the Longevity Project, housed at the University of California, Riverside, found that people who were the most committed to their jobs and who continued to be productive throughout their lives tended to live longer than those who were only in Âit for the paychecks. If you don't want to clock out of life prematurely, find a career that you find meaningful so you'll want to give it your all. 3. You sit all day. Whether it's in an office or in front of the TV, sitting all day simply is not good for you. A new study, published in theAmerican Journal of Epidemiology, found that older women who stay seated for 10 or more hours a day have shorter telomeres-protective "caps" on the ends of DNA strandsÂ. The researchers consider this proof that these women have cells that are biologically 8 years older than the women's chronological ages. (So you could be, say, 65, but have the cells of a 73-year-old.) Note to self: Stand up more, and make time for workouts (and add these 6 stretches to your day). 4.You don't have a college degree. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that people with a college degree tend to live almost 9 years longer than those who didn't finish high school. Why? Better education likely translates to more knowledge about how to protect your health, plus college grads are more apt to have good jobs that come with access to solid medical care. 5.You're divorced or widowed. This is mostly an issue for the guys, as marriage doesn't seem to be as beneficial to women's health as it is for men's. The University of California, Riverside's Longevity Project found that most men who stayed in long-term marriages lived to at least 70 compared to only one-third of divorced men. So the next time your wife makes a doctor's appointment for you or slaps your hand away from a bowl of chips, remember that the correct response is "Thank you." |
WASHINGTON — A federal appeals panel on Thursday unanimously rejected President Trump’s bid to reinstate his ban on travel into the United States from seven largely Muslim nations, a sweeping rebuke of the administration’s claim that the courts have no role as a check on the president. The three-judge panel, suggesting that the ban did not advance national security, said the administration had shown “no evidence” that anyone from the seven nations — Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen — had committed terrorist acts in the United States. The ruling also rejected Mr. Trump’s claim that courts are powerless to review a president’s national security assessments. Judges have a crucial role to play in a constitutional democracy, the court said. “It is beyond question,” the decision said, “that the federal judiciary retains the authority to adjudicate constitutional challenges to executive action.” The decision was handed down by the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in San Francisco. It upheld a ruling last Friday by a federal district judge, James L. Robart, who blocked key partsof the travel ban, allowing thousands of foreigners to enter the country. The appeals court acknowledged that Mr. Trump was owed deference on his immigration and national security policies. But it said he was claiming something more — that “national security concerns areunreviewable, even if those actions potentially contravene constitutional rights and protections.” Within minutes of the ruling, Mr. Trump angrily vowed to fight it, presumably in an appeal to the Supreme Court. “SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE!” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter At the White House, the president told reporters that the ruling was “a political decision” and predicted that his administration would win an appeal “in my opinion, very easily.” He said he had not yet conferred with his attorney general, Jeff Sessions, on the matter. The Supreme Court remains short-handed and could deadlock. A 4-to-4 tie there would leave the appeals court’s ruling in place. The administration has moved fast in the case so far, and it is likely to file an emergency application to the Supreme Court in a day or two. The court typically asks for a prompt response from the other side, and it could rule soon after it received one. A decision next week, either to reinstate the ban or to continue to block it, is possible.
