EducationHow Fight With Buhari's Minister Led To The Sack Of Ex-jamb Boss. by Evinsco(op): 10:25pm On Aug 07, 2016
Sources reveal how the ex-JAMB boss proved to be stubborn during a disagreement with the minister
– The ex-JAMB boss would have escaped the axe had he acted appropriately before it was too late
– Buhari’s minister was said to have waited for the appropriate time to approve the sack of the ex-JAMB boss
Revelations have emerged on why President Muhammadu Buhari sacked erstwhile registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB), Professor ‘Dibu Ojerinde.
The former chief executive of JAMB was replaced by Ishaq Oloyede alongside other appointments by the federal government recently.
But reports from those close to information informed Daily Post that a fight between Ojerinde and minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu over the 2016 admission exercise into universities and other tertiary institutions led to the termination of the former’s contract.
And when the post-Universities Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was canceled by the minister, it was obvious that trouble was looming.
Reports say the ex-JAMB boss did not reply messages sent to him and could not be reached as his phone was said to have been permanently switched off.
Reacting to the removal of Ojerinde, a source in the ministry of Education said:“For us, the removal of Ojerinde as Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB did not come as a surprise. The Minister is very smart because he knew he was dealing with a Professor. What Adamu did was to wait for an opportunity when many CEOs would be involved.
“If Ojerinde had been sacked earlier, it would be seen to be politically-motivated. But now that many of them were affected, nobody can read politics into it.”
Speaking also on the brewing discord between the pair, another source hinted that,“After the cancellation of the Post-UTME, it was clearly stated that admissions will be based on the three criteria of Merit, Catchment and Educationally Less Developed States. Since there is no Post-UTME, after sending them the bigger list, what Ojerinde did was, to prepare a list that reflected these three criteria.
“Nobody knows what the authorities of Universities told the Minister and based on whatever they may have told him, Adamu advised him to withdraw the list in his own interest. Ojerinde is another stubborn person, especially if he knows he is very right in what he is doing. He declined and refused to withdraw it.
“After examinations, JAMB usually sent print out to the Universities. JAMB sent a bigger print out. But after agreement that admissions will be based on the three criteria, JAMB sent out a smaller print out which reflected the three criteria. The Universities were not happy that JAMB conducted admissions. If you look at the Act establishing JAMB, it empowers JAMB to conduct admissions.
“But the Universities are saying the University Act empowers the Senate to conduct admissions. But the Act establishing JAMB has not been repealed. When you make a law, it doesn’t automatically overpower it. You either repeal it or retain with but say without prejudice the other. So, there is so much confusion.”
It was when Ojerinde was sensing danger with his acts that he reportedly tried to withdraw the list sent to universities to reduce the anger of the minister, but it was already too little, too late as the deed had already been done.
“But it was very late, Ojerinde should have withdrawn it earlier. This was just the cause of their disagreement. Despite the protest from Vice Chancellors, the Minister was solidly behind him during the cancellation of the Post-UTME.
“If he had withdrawn it, I can tell you that Ojerinde would have escaped the tsunami which shook the education sector on Monday because he did very well in JAMB, especially with the introduction of Computer-Based Test,” another anonymous source explained.

The furious consumer identified as David Onimisi King, decided to vent his frustration on his Facebook page. Here’s what he said below:

The expired packet of biscuits

[b]“BEWARE: NUTRITIONAL TERRORISM
I am by this post imploring all consumers of packaged foods to be very careful and observant when buying stuff. This morning I rushed out of the studio to get a snack and I saw this new pack of Digestive Biscuits that caught my fancy. I quickly perused the product information and saw that it was to expire in April 2017. I paid quickly, opened the pack and started munching while I waited for my balance. Then, I noticed that the piece of biscuit intercoursing with my mouth had a sour foul taste. In fact, it tasted like it had expired.

I looked at the product information again, and on close scrutiny, I discovered that the original expiry date had been nicely cleaned off and another expiry date, written on a sticker, was stuck in its place. This is another brazen display of man’s inglorious inhumanity to man. You can imagine the unquantifiable negative health effects that consumption of expired products can cause to the human body. A friend of mine lost her hearing permanently after consuming expired products. Another had a bout of catastrophic allergy that took years to heal.
But, some unscrupulous, demonic, carefree, money-mongering, cantankerous, nonsensical, barbarous, and utterly animalistic businessmen/women are still unconcerned about the harm they are causing people by making them consume expired products but only interested in the money they’ll make to further massage their evilly megalomaniacal egos.
I’m calling on the authorities, such as the Police, NAFDAC and other relevant agencies to quickly swing into action and arrest these serial killers, mass murderers, and nutritional terrorists. As you can see, it is not only people that carry bombs and guns that can be aptly referred to as killers and terrorists. There are many killers and terrorists who disguise as legit businesspeople.
Please comment on and share this post until it reaches the authorities concerned. You are by this action helping to save a life.”

CultureThe Influence Of America And Her Culture InToday Church by Evinsco(op): 12:41am On Jul 17, 2016
The influence of America and her culture on the church in Nigeria is monumental. Although Christianity did not come from America, America was as gentile as Nigeria as far as the salvation programme of God is concerned, people here have come to see America as the standard of Christianity. Any minister of God who travels to America to preach, even though to less than two dozen people, leaving the hundreds of brethren in his congregation behind is considered a big and successful minister of God.
Here we have adopted the American style of worship. Our musical instruments are American; our lyrics are American. Our ministers dress American; some even mimic popular American preachers sounding miserable in the process.
When our brothers, (Americana pastors) came back from America, they began to tell us that it no longer matter for our sisters to cover their heads in prayer meetings. Everybody (except some few "conservatives"wink said yes; America cannot be wrong. Later they told us that since women wear trousers to church in America, it no longer matter for sisters here to do same. Everybody complied; America cannot be wrong! Recently, men come to church with braided hair while women come with "skin" haircut, many are in church with tattoo and men wear ear rings. We all sing, jump and shout together in church in the American way; these things do not matter because that is what they do in America and America cannot be wrong!
Now American men are marrying themselves in church and their women are doing the same. Soon American churches will be full of couples who are Mr Wood and Mr Wood married legally in the church and Mrs and Mrs Stones married together. America is always right! That is the position here!
Soon in Nigeria, shall also see Olu and Ade, two brothers in the church as couple, one in the choir and the other an usher?
I hope America will be wrong for once and something will really matter to the church in Nigeria.

EducationA Critical View Into Nigerian Educational Sector. by Evinsco(op): 8:08pm On Jul 10, 2016

One thing about our country nigeria is that we are more theoretical than practical. We believe so much in theories that u will see an engineering student that spend 6 years in the university but will not be able to practicalise what he or she has studied..... The country has made one to believe that without education one can not succeed in life...which have been passed down from generation to generation.
There are xo many people who did not go to school, but are billionaires....and some who just reach half way and are multi billionaire...the likes of bill Gates...the inventor of microsoft, mark zuckerburg...the creator of facebook...and lot more to mention.
That is why i sometimes admired those musicians, actors e.tc because it is their talent and it is not learnt or taught in the four corners of the classroom..it is inbuilt....u dnt need any degree to become a star.
In developed countries when they find out you are good in a particular area they pick you, train you and model you to become the man you want to become in life. But here in nigeria all they do is to send you to school for 12 years and at the end you come out,no job after spending sleepless night and ransacking your brain...solving equations that your forefathers and even your unborn children is coming to solve....After they say undergraduate s are robbing and roaming the street...doing all manner of vices, why will they not when they have suffered to get a degree...spending money to buy handout and projects...yet nothing to show for all their stress...won't they eat or live as humans. Upon all the voluminous book we read here in nigeria....still we don't have inventors...we still import even the smallest of match box....the govt don't value the innovations of her youth in build and moving the country forward....if not for the travelling expenses oversea...i don't think we will have any youth in this country because everybody are aiming high and to be great....not to die in this country like a waste resources.
Until our government and the educational sector revolutionise....before we can start talking of a developing nation but now we are a suffering nation.

GOD BLESS NIGERIA!!!
Our father Land.
