TravelRe: 2.89 CGPA — Is My Canada/australia Relocation Dream Still Valid? by excelchips(m): 5:24pm On May 08
Your thought is right but it doe not work that way in western world. Every Nigerian in your situation will do same. I once did. I will advise you to consult with people you know in these countries you intend to study to seek advice on courses that can make you secure work after graduation. I'm based in the UK, and if I would advice you, you should go for courses in medical/care line. Nursing - any specialization, Radiotherapy, etc. With those you can easily secure job after graduation and live your life the way you want it. There is no joy in doing a masters in Architecture and after that you cannot secure job.

Engage people already there to seek advice. Nigeria/Africa and Western World are two different world that do not meet. Diploma in Renewable Energy, Electrical Energy etc might be the way to go.

TravelRe: Will My Age Affect My Visa Being Granted?!! by excelchips(m): 6:50pm On Apr 21
Your age is of no importance but your money does. Western world unis needs your money nothing more. I think you should bother yourself with other issues apart from that - which course should I studied ? Do I plan to come back to Nigeria after the masters or you want to stay back ? - that needs to guide you on the course you would do. Do you actually need the masters or is a way to escape Nigeria ? Those are things in my opinion you should bother yourself with. Have a deep thought about those and come up with a strategy that works for you.

TravelRe: Anti Japa Crew Vs The Japa Crew, Who Is Lying? by excelchips(m):
SpreshMan:
I recently got conditional offers from most schools in the Uk, one is starting in May and I have also deferred one to the September but my mind wants to go for the one in May.

However the kinds of arguments I read online about whether or not Japa is worth has got me confused.

I know about minimum wage being about 12-15 pounds and maximum of 20 hours per week, I know work visa after graduation has been reduced to 18 months and even the condition for ILR being extended last year.

So I’m seeking advise from people would be Honest whether it would be worth it to spend around 21 million to embark on this journey and still have a debt of close to 10 million naira since I’m paying half of the school fees. Will it be worth it ?

Are the people preaching against japa being honest ?
.
Hmmm. Starting from being given admission, many UK Universities will be happily offer you admission at this time, the reason being that about 60% of them are currently facing financial crises so they are desperate to get more students to fund their activities. More recently they are even discussing forming merger in other to stay afloat. So, don't be carried away by the fact you are offered admission.

However, I'm not sure you will be making a good decision for your career, getting jobs after graduation is hell. The job market here is SUPER saturated. Even when you are qualified, scale through all their barrier, the question would that they need UK experience which I doubt you might not have. So securing a sponsorship job after graduation might be extremely difficult, and only lifeline majority people are currently using which care jobs which offers sponsorship are being withdrawn. Hundreds are having challenges renewing their sponsorship. This is not to discourage you but to let you know the real situation on ground. If only you are cross bend on coming for MSc here look for courses that is health and care related something like Mental Health Nursing, Nursing, Social Services, Radiography etc, with those you have a greater chance of getting job regardless of you the course you take in you BSc level. Don't go near MSc in engineering or sciences. What makes money here is health and care related jobs. Apart from those, master degrees in the UK are business nothing more.

If you truly have 21million naira, just you relax and look inward for something you can do back in Nigeria. Spending such on a masters that you might not use and end up doing something you do not like do not worth.

PoliticsRe: Benin Government Asked Nigeria For Fighter Jets, Ground Troops - Onanuga by excelchips(m): 4:24pm On Dec 09, 2025
Nigeria, my country, we are good in condemn things. The president is saddled with the power to take decisions and actions on many things without asking every dick and harry how to go about it. We condemn anything good or bad without realising uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” Arguing and condemn everything, which in most cases are based on false information. We have heard that Tinubu acted on Macron's instruction, this is another saying Beninous President requested for military assistance. Benin Rep being a member of ECOWAS, every member country is liable to assist if such assistance is requested. At least, you won't expect ECOWAS constitution to devoid such reaction to address insecurity among the member states.

Ofunaofu:
How exactly was the invitation communicated?

Even if Nigeria received an invitation to participate, does the constitution permit the President to unilaterally deploy air assets and military personnel to another country without National Assembly authorization? That is the core issue, not the vague explanations being offered by Bayo Onanuga

The National Assembly must thoroughly investigate whether this action, along with others, constitutes a breach of constitutional obligations. If the President is found to have violated the Constitution, the impeachment process should commence without delay.

This is not a banana republic;
this is a nation governed by law, and no one is above it
EducationRe: Medical Students: How Did You Get A High Jamb Score. by excelchips(m): 4:25pm On Nov 28, 2025
Good write up.

But if you know that Medicine is for you, then you will understand that all these complains are nothing. You have a dream and to achieve the dream you must study hard and stop complaining. Same textbooks are used for both SSCE and JAMB but what makes JAMB stands out is your ability to read between the lines and a bigger understanding of the topics' context which SSCE lacks.

No easy way to success. If you dream of becoming a doctor, then dust your book and start studying

Jackanda1:
I mentioned medical student because I know that medicine requires a high jamb score. I am seeking for admission into medicine. it has been my dream for some time now, but jamb had been making it very difficult. It has been more than 6 years. I had to settle for a course I do not like. I'm a graduate now and done with Nysc. However my dreams remain. I attended three times and give up. I want to try it again with the determination to get it this time. I am seeking advice from people who have pass this stage successfully.

So I am making another attempt at jamb next year. I have started studying with jamb syllables and past questions but my problems are:

1. The textbooks are just too bulky. There are too many things to study if you are following the syllabus. It is very frustrating. Too many things to study in a very short period of time.

2. Tendency to forget easily. Things I studied last month I have forgotten more than 50% of it, because of it bulkiness. So I have to go back to revise them which is time consuming especially when I have new topics to study.

3. I'm currently studying organic compounds in chemistry. And it is it is painful that I couldn't answer all the past questions on that topic. I had to go back to revise the topic. It seems jamb questions are hidden in corners of the textbooks. And you can't find them no matter how hard you cram.

4. I do not know if my brain is a little bit slow because I can spend time on one particular topic and in 3 days time I end up forgetting 70% of what I read in that topic.so Did you people go through this problems cuz I'm tired.

5. Medicine for me is a do or die. I don't intend to give up. I always see myself as a medical doctor. But jamb is jamming me too much.

I need help and encouragement from you guys. How did you do it.

Should I just focus on past questions. Tell me how you did it. if possible break it down summarize it. Even if it's a hard Way. Tell me, I need your help.

EducationRe: What My Friend Did To Me because Of Ordinary Teaching Job. by excelchips(m): 12:53pm On Sep 03, 2025
Being a graduate and having access to AI or internet do not qualify you to teach Physics. Also, I'm not sure if you have an Education degree. in my own opinion, your friend has not wronged you but you have wronged him because you have made him look like a fool before his principal and school management. Your friend knows you and he knows what you studied hence did not direct the vacancy to you. I will like to point out also that teaching profession is not ordinary, it is highly respected profession and you should see it as such. Cutting tie? I believe, it is your friend that needs to cut tie with you. Nothing stop to open up to your friend and tell him everything before presenting yourself as would-be Physics teacher.

heracles1:
My friend told me that, the school he is teaching, are looking for a physics teacher and he wants me to help him ask around, because since when the physics teacher in that school resigns, it has been months and still they have not found his replacement.

I asked him how much the school pays so that when I ask around I will tell the person everything, and my friend told me that the school will pay 85k per month.

I graduated from uni since 2019 and I have never done any kind of job, and this my friend is asking me to help him look for someone for his school to employ, I was suprised but I didnt say anything to him, after 3days I told him that I have gotten someone for the job and he told me to tell the guy to come to the school with his CV for interview. I didnt tell my friend that I will be the guy.
Today in the morning, I prepared and went to the school with my CV, on getting there I called my friend and he came and ask me where is the person, I told him its me, He said to me, why will you come for the interview while you know you cant teach physics, I told him in this era of AI, I can teach any subject.

All I want from him is to cover for me and never tell the principal that I did not study physics in school, he said no he cant do that for me.

I am very angry and want to cut ties with that friend of mine forever.
EducationRe: M.sc Or IT Skills by excelchips(m): 1:50pm On Jun 17, 2025
Masters is good but it is practically useless if intend to use it to secure job but Masters can be fine to build your career as you age.
IT skills, Yes good. IT jobs are increasingly needed nowadays but you have to choose wisely, most especially with the advent of Aritificial Intelligence. If you are considering Cybersecurity, it is good, that means you are planning to study widely and try to specialise as soon as possible after getting the cyber fundamental knowledge and focus on an area as cybersecurity is damn wide. Purse IT skills that will still remain relevant in decades to come as things are fast changing. Using myself as case study, IT skills has been tremendously helpful in my career journey though, I have a master in Nigeria (Master in Informtion Technology) and another in the UK (Masters in Cybersecurity) both have not in any way helped in terms of securing job but they have make my status look good, helped in a lot of way especially scalling hurdles in many ways.
Lastly, I will advise you can purse IT skills now, when you have secured job and comfortable with what you are doing, if you still have passion for study you can get Masters then.

We have been copying foreigners' culture for too long either knowingly or unknowingly without us raising eye brown. We copy both the good ones and the bad ones. That said, you yourself is the best out of all these. The way you project yourself, study hard, get better result, get needed skills that will sell you well to the prospect companies. In this modern world, it is not about the course, it is about the skills and knowledge mainly not in the 4 walls of the university oh.

It a small fraction of people in Nigeria that are bad not all. Nigeria has done shege for millions of people that she ever experienced and no police force is clean anywhere in the world. I know one day she will look for Nigerian assistance. She should learn from Rishi Sunak. Nigeria was a great country and still great and will still be greater.
