yelei: Hello guys, great work you're doing here. Well, I have an issue and I would need your advice. I'm about paying part of my fees but I live in ph and the state is currently in lockdown due to the pandemic I no one knows how long it would remain this way. Can I go ahead to pay the fees or should I wait till the ban on restriction of interstate movement is lifted because, I wouldn't want to pay the fees and not be able to travel out of the state for the visa interview as at when due besides, I dont know if I would be eligible for a refund if that happens. Guys, pls what do u think?
Thanks as I anticipate your response.
Modified I sent the school a mail concerning this but they couldn't give me a concrete answer. It's better you wait till this global issue ends. Why the rush ? Even no students on campus now and they cannot give you a concrete answer as they themselves don't know when this Coronavirus issue will ends. Western countries are loosing their citizens in hundred everyday. So this not a time to take such step. When everything is normalized then one can continue. |

Congrats! If you're not sure you'd have the funds up by then, you should respond to their email stating, your most convenient day. You have them in your court now.
Thank you, and Yes, I agree that the information does look promising. I have sought to find current practicing Nigerians in the UK Security industry, but haven't had any promising leads yet.
What certification(s) would you suggest fits into the bolded gap? CISM?
Start with CEH if you are new to Info Security world, next by CISSP and CISM. While CISSP and CISM are common requirements, CEH launch and prepare you well for security world. The rest ( GIAC, OSCP, Cisco-Security etc) are better done when you have a grip understanding in area you what to specialize.

Thank you so much for the bolded. I really needed to hear that. Anyone else headed in for Info Security later this year? . Nice info though and it is promising, but CCNP Security and CCIE Security cannot be written in 6 months though but can be ACHIEVED just to put more clarity. CCNP security is achievable in 6months but CCIE Security is the expert level which can take a year or more of intense studIies. The route can be CCNP security, other security certifications and finally CCIE Security. |

naledis: Hello everyone.
Anyone here resuming in April/May? Thinking about how the corona virus outbreak could potentially disrupt those plans? A number of universities are already canceling in-class lectures and switching to online teachings.
I pray this pandemic passes quickly with as little carnage as possible. Everyone in areas hit with the virus; please stay safe. This is really food for thought. This pandemic is seriously ravaging the UK and the rest of developed world. While, we walk freely and do not feel its effect in Africa, economic and social life are grounded all over the globe but I believe all will be sort very soon God's willing. Amen So let's be hopeful and continue to monitor news. God will take control. But I have a question, hope exchange rate has not backslided again as this might have a great impact on our finances. 1 Like |

I really can't speak to the merits of one programme over the other, IT and associated areas not being my field, so that's for you to do your research, but Sheffield is definitely more affordable re cost of living than "Rip-off" Edinburgh is.
However, remember there's always a trade-off: big cities are expensive, but usually come with better job opportunities than more provincial ones. I've never been to Sheffield, but I hear Yorkshire is increasingly becoming a more interesting place to be, my friend moved to Leeds (about an hour away from Sheffield, I think) and has a lot of positive things to say about the area. Thanks really appreciate. |

Congratulations mate!
Both courses are certified by the GHCQ, as such you’re covered on education accreditation. What should then inform your choices should be
- City ( Active or Slow-Paced living) - checkout reviews on StudentRoom, Quora & Reddit. - Check Indeed or any other job site for what the market is like for Security related jobs. - Compare the cost of living, if you’re on a budget. You can check Studentcrowd. - Lastly, I’d strongly advice that you speak to alumni’s of both schools, preferably on LinkedIn and ask questions(lots of it).
I’m sure with the above you should be able to make a better informed decision about whose offer you should go with.
All the best. . Thanks really appreciate. |

mikeerrr: Let’s be realistic bro, they ain’t getting no warrant and coming back.
I’ve lived in Sheffield for 6 years now.
First time they did I let them in and got wrong.
I moved somewhere else and they did random checks and knocked on my door, I didn’t let them in and till today, never came with warrant.
How will they know you’ve got a TV if you live in a block of flats? It’s not like Nigeria where you have dstv dish outside.
They only do random checks just for formalities. It’s not that serious.
Yes if you can pay , fine . If you can’t, just be wise.
Hi Cyberknight and all. I got admission offer MSc Advanced Security and Digital Forensic at Edinburgh Napier University and MSC Cyber Security at Sheffield Hallam University and currently at cross road on the one to go for. While Im somehow inclined toward Napier due to course contents and also concerned about things things around like possibilities of getting part time job while study, job after the programme, which of the cities is more affordable etc. I need this comparison to conclude of the one to go for. I will really appreciate your advise. Thank you. |

Thank you Good afternoon. Please, are you saying it is more expensive to stay in school than off campus. My thinking is that staying in school cut off all other expenses like TV tax, agent fee and other hidden fee plus transport. If I'm wrong kindly elaborate. Thanks |

You can make withdrawals/operate the account as usual. You should only ensure that your account balance does not fall below the minimum required amount at any point in time during the 28-day period
Thanks for the clarification |

harriseen: Good morning everyone.
So I just got an unconditional offer from Sheffield Hallam University. I’m required to pay a £1k acceptance fee to get my CAS. However I’m also applying for a scholarship that could give me 50% funding for my program. Trying to brainstorm and gather info for an essay I’m expected to write has been a real head scratcher however. I’ll post the topic here, just so anyone is in my shoes or willing to help with useful tips can reach me
”In no more than 500 words, please tell us how you would stand out from the crowd as a scholarship ambassador for Sheffield Hallam University during and after your studies“
Congratulations on the offer. Could you tell us your intended course of study. I was given conditional offer for MSc Cyber Security but my condition never specified any scholarship. |

Fwaz: You can request for another 28days statement from your bank. Let's say from 01may to 28may bank statement is what you used in obtaining your CAS from your school and your CAS was issued to you on 5june, go back to your bank and request for another 28days statement pending when you choose to apply for your visa.. if you chose to apply on 6june, your 28days should start counting from 9may to 5june if I'm not mistaking
Please, I need to ask this question. I am understand you should not make any withdraw within 28 days bracket but could you deposit during this time if what you started with within the period is enough for your programme. |

I have just filled the question-naire myMBAsurvey: Hi Guys,
Congrats to all who were invited for the interview. I wish you the best. My name is Prince, I am an MBA student at Edinburgh Napier. For my MBA project, I am looking for better ways to improve student recruitment, especially from third world countries. As you know international students contribute a lot to the UK economy. But its hard to say what is the corresponding impact in their own respective countries? How can these schools serve us better? If they understand the pressure and thought process of a typical MSc student, they can help better...
So please can you take out 5 minutes to fill this survey. It's very short, I bet you.

Happy New Year house. I'm new on this platform and I plan to apply for Masters in CyberSecurity in the UK university for September admission but I will like to know if language test IELTS (Academic)/PTE is compulsory to obtain UK Tier 4 Visa. I notice each school has its own requirement as regards language and the school I'm applying to do not really needs it since you can convince them that you took you undergraduate course in English. Please, expert here kindly assist to elaborate, and if it is, which one is better to take out of ielts and pte. |
