The number of people attempting to cross the vast desert to reach Libya and then Europe could more than double this year to 100,000, according to the International. Migrants sit on their belongings in the back of a truck as it is driven along a dusty road in the desert town of Agadez, Niger. African migrants travel in the back of a truck across the Sahara desert on September 26, Niger.

Adminisher:The mistake is on the topic, but the thread says it all. It should be 'Microsoft Co-founder Unveils Worlds largest Plane With Two Cockpits.' My Apologies. cc: Seun, Lalasticlala, Mynd44 |
The graphic above illustrates the Stratolaunch's wingspan compared to other aircraft models, including the Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental and the Airbus A380-800.

The advantage of Allen's (above) approach will be the ability to position the plane so satellites can be directly delivered into very precise orbits and do so quickly, without launch range scheduling issues and weather-related delays. Traditionally, satellites and other aircraft have been launched into space from a launchpad. Allen made his fortune alongside Bill Gates. The two men co-founded Microsoft, which changed the way the world uses personal computers.

The plane rolls around with the aid of 28 wheels. Once airborne, it is powered by six 747 aircraft engines.

The Stratolaunch, seen above being rolled out of its hangar in California's Mojave Desert on Wednesday, is an aircraft that is designed to carry rockets between its two fuselages. The Stratolaunch weights approximately 500,000 pounds without any cargo. It is designed to carry a maximum takeoff weight of 1.3million pounds. The plane was built by Scaled Composites, an aerospace company founded by Allen's partner in the Stratolaunch project, Burt Rutan.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen unveiled the world's largest aircraft on Wednesday. The massive plane rolled out by Allen's aerospace firm, Stratolaunch Systems, features the longest wingspan of any aircraft ever built, according to Popular Mechanics. With a wingspan of 385 feet, the six-engine plane will be larger than Howard Hughes' 1947 H-4 Hercules, known as the 'Spruce Goose,' and the Antonov An-225, a Soviet-era cargo plane originally built to transport the Buran space shuttle that is currently the world's largest aircraft. The Stratolaunch is an aircraft that is designed tocarry rockets between its two fuselages. In 2011, the project's cost was initially estimated to be at $300million, though there is no word as to the updated figures. After the plane reaches altitude, it would then drop the launch vehicle, which will subsequently fire its boosters and launch into space from the air. https://arstechnica.com/science/2017/05/paul-allen-showed-off-his-new-rocket-launching-plane-today-it-is-big/?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C2973485649 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4560772/Aircraft-wingspan-length-FOOTBALL-FIELD-unveiled.html

While the number of births in the United States to U.S.-born women has decreased since 1970, the number of births to immigrant women in the United States has risen, meaning that the U.S. population has increased since 1970 due to births to immigrant women. |
The six American Nobel Prize winners of 2016 in the areas of chemistry, physics, and economics are all immigrants. In 2014, 29% of immigrants in the United States age 25 and older held a bachelor’s degree or higher, compared with 30 percent of the U.S. born population. |
California, Texas, Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Illinois held 60% of the illegal immigrant population in United States.

Anyone wishing to become an Austrian citizen must reside there continuously for a minimum of 15 years and denounce any other citizenship. Doubt if Nigerians would do this...

In 2014, global displacement reached historic levels, 59.5 million people were forced to flee their homes. Roughly the same number of people in Britain. If these people made up their own country, it would be the 24th largest nation in the world. In 2014 alone, 8.3 million people were forced to flee. That means that 42,500 people were forced to leave their homes every day because of conflict, persecution or poverty.

An estimated 50-60% of illegal immigrants residing in the United States did not illegally cross the border. Instead, they obtained legal visas as employees, students, or tourists and did not return home when their visas expired.

Electronzeez:Greener pasture bro, people will go anywhere as long as it's guaranteed. |
The poorest countries are the ones with the least emigration, that is people leaving the country to live abroad. Although international migration is intrinsically tied with the search for jobs, people in the most impoverished countries will most likely not have the money to finance a trip. The Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Niger countries with some of the lowest U.N. Human Development Index ratings and GDP per capita all have less than 3% of their population living outside their borders.

In 2006 the USA took in more legal immigrants as permanent residents than all the other countries in the world combined. The name “green card” comes from a post-WWII form, the I-151, which was printed on green paper. The first card was issued in the '50s, and it had green stripes on one side.

Over the last several years, poverty, harsh living conditions, deteriorating political and socio-economic conditions, increasing youth and women unemployment and underemployment, armed conflicts, the threats to peace and security, violation of fundamental rights, natural disasters and famine as well as external pull factors have combined to trigger both voluntary and forced population movements from and within Africa. Better economic opportunities, more jobs, and the promise of a better life often pull people towards a new country. It is estimated that Africa loses in excess of 70,000 skilled professionals annually to emigration, resulting in a huge human capacity deficit in the continent. In 2009, Zimbabweans made the most asylum applications, in 2010 and 2011 the most asylum applications were made by Iranians. In 2010, refugees and asylum-seekers made up 8% (16.3 million) of international migrants.
