A good example of a true and genuine applicant getting the best outcome. Ofcos God is omnipotent but alas the applicant and sponsor must also do the work by making sure they provide appropriate and adequate documentation as well as truthful representation of their circumstance.

My timeline ...
Standard application from abuja Nigeria
Online application; 23rd march
Biometrics: 4th april
Docs sent: 14th April
Docs received at sheffield: 16th april
Hubby called to find out update on d 4th July and they said decision has been made d previous week and we should wait 10 working days.
Decision made email and passport ready for collection email: 10 July
Collected passport with visa: 11th july
Total: 69 working days from bio and 60 working days from date docs were received (excluding bank hols)
Vignette valid from 27th june to 27th july.they backdated mine so i have a shorter time to leave Nigeria.

Some little pointers:
I studied in d UK for my Msc and MBA qualifications.During my MBA, just as I finished and received my results i applied for a graduate entrepreneurship visa and in that time i had issues with the sch concerning this which made them revoke their sponsorship. As soon as this happened i left the UK immediately so as not to overstay. I applied in oct 2016 for visit visa to go for my MBA graduation and was refused because of the revoking of my sponsorship. hubby stated all this in his letter of sponsorship. Got married oct 2017 and we just had to present a very tight application in order not to b refused..
We made small errors though but God was on our side.. for example. Hubby's letter of employment wasnt on an office letter head..HR wrote it on a pdf doc and just signed it there was no stamp. We also didnt use any utility bill no council tax no nothing because hubby just moved into d apartment just before d application however we did submit tenancy agreement and letter from landlord and also property inspection report even though it is an apartment and he is staying alone. There were also small differences in his monthly salary for d 6mnth period but d amnt on d statement for each mnth was exactly d same on the payslip.

I pray that those still waiting receive their goodnews soon. ..Amen. just do your part and rely on God.he ll do it for you...

It is my turn to shout Halleluyah...Olowogbogboro has turned things around for my good...
Colllected my passport this morning with my Yes inside it...
I discovered this forum after i had submitted my application however i have a friend who applied in 2016 and got his visa so he gave me a download of everything he did and i adhered strictly. the home office didnt call my husband or his office. What kept me sane for this 3mnths was the fact that my mind was busy....am a fashion designer and in this business all u think about is creating designs...3mnths flew by so quick for me.
My Timeline will come up shortly...
Thanks to everyone in this grp for all you do to help people with their application...God bless you real good

Either one of u can pay..whichever one is easier...in my case my husband paid cos my payment kept bouncing back because of my IP address even though the money was in my UK acct...so i gave my husband my details to make d payment

Here I stand, another graduate of this noble institution! grin grin I can't say thank you enough to everyone who has contributed vital information on this forum. The information is pricelessly invaluable!

I got my passport back today, with the visa!!
67 working days in total. I'm so elated and relieved. Here's my timeline;

*Online application - 31st March 18 (Non-Priority, Settlement - wife)
*Biometrics - 3 April 18
*Transferred to UKVI mail - 3 April 18
*Docs received at Sheffield - 16 April 18
*Being prepared for consideration mail - 23 April 18
*Application not straightforward - 1 July 18 (getting this after 62 working days sent me into panic mode!!)
*Decision made email from TLS - 5 July 18 (Day 66)
*Passport collected with visa - 6 July 18 (Day 67)

The last 3 months have been the longest, marked with obsessive mail/TLS status checking and counting working days. Lol. My advice, if you can, by all means, please do Priority. The wait is harrowing. Praise to God that its over and it turned out positive. I pray everyone waiting receives their good news soon too.
Congratulations. .this is great news..
I did my bio a day after yours 4th april and my documents were received same day as yours..so am expecting my goodnews too any moment from now....

I disagree with oxygyne's statement.
'Mrs' is a title for married women while 'Miss' is for unmarried women. It doesn't matter if you change your name or not.
Thats y she asked if she can use Mrs and her maiden name after her wedding...so Oxygyne is still right... i filled my forms with Mrs after i got married and still maintain my maiden name

Hi Lexusgs,

So the applicant doesn't have to write a cover letter as well? And please where do we write details of how we met and all of that, is it on the online application form or the apppendix 2 form?
Also any help on how to summarise our whatsapp chat? I was just about to print out and its almost 800 pages. Thank you smiley
The applicant also needs to write a cover letter too...details of the relationship can b on that cover letter.
For the whatsapp chat this is how i did mine i took screenshots of chats going back 2 yrs...10 screenshots per month.that mayb too much but that's how i did mine.then i created a word document on landscape view and put 10 screenshots per page 5 on each row...in d end i had about 50pages for screenshots of 2yrs

Huh?? Did u really understand what i said before responding?? I said " pls send all your documents to Sheffield from the UK" meaning the applicant should ensure d docs are sent from within d uk to Sheffield for safety

Sorry if I am. What I meant was, would they request for registry wedding certificate and TB test certificate at biometric session. I'm trying to find out if she need to send these via my dad or take them to biometric and send to me using premium service to receive in time for Sheffield.

I'm just reading this on TLS

"From the 5th of December customers applying for a UK visa in Nigeria will benefit from digital improvements to the UK visa application process. Supporting documents will be scanned whilst customers are at the visa application centre, and then given straight back immediately. These digital documents will then be sent securely to UKVI, with the passport, and visa officers will then consider the application in the usual way. This new process allows customers to retain their important supporting documents during the application process. This development is made available to customers using both our standard and Priority Visa services.

Apart from an applicant’s passport, all supporting documents will, where possible, be handed back at the Visa Application Centre after they have been scanned.

All documents submitted by customers applying for PBS Tier 1, 2, 4 and 5, EEA applications and other settlement and non-visit visas will be scanned at the Visa Application Centre and sent electronically securely to UKVI.

In order to avoid delays in the Visa Application Centre it is recommended that customers follow the instructions below:

• Bring your original passport (or travel document) and residence permit/national ID card (if applicable);

• Bring A4 copies of all of your supporting documents. Copies should be of reasonably good quality to be readable when scanned. Use coloured copies if necessary.

• If you would like to submit an old passport or a sponsor’s passport as supporting document, then you must provide copies of it as well;

• Remove any staples, clips or pins from documents before submitting them.

Presenting the documents in the format set out above will allow us to scan them more quickly, return them and reduce waiting times at the Visa Application Centre.
I recently applied in April...pls send all your supporting docs to sheffield from the UK its safer that way...the only docs ull need for biometrics are your recent passport (photocopies of old passport should be sent to sheffield), proof of payment, proof of appointment and first page of online application

Like I said, it's her choice. The ECO will not be there to welcome her at the airport. And please, why does she need to state she got pregnant after her TB test? Does it even make sense to You? Who asked her that one. You people should be reasonable please.

And Yes, certain information is too much. When you concentrate on what they didn't ask you and us not relevant, you risk diverting the ECO's attention from the important parts of your application. People have gotten wrong refusals because of too much info
Ppl are entitled to their opinion....why ask me if it makes sense to me. And what does being reasonable have to do with anything.I offered my opionion you offered yours .its up to the applicant. Ppl are only here to help..so pls there is nothing like too much info...

Wow, thanks so much for the speedy reply! You guys are so helpful.

Please, I just checked my TB certificate. It says I must carry it with me when I (eventually) reach the UK border at Heathrow. But am not sure how this would work. I assumed they would send our supporting doc back to my husband (sponsor) at his UK address so must he then DHL the TB certificate to me in Nigeria before I fly?? It sounds stupid to ask sorry pls, I just want to be sure.

Additionally, does the Home Office send your docs back to you free of charge?? I heard before we have to get a prepaid envelope but am not sure Royal Mail do this...

Your first question..dont worry about travelling with the tb cert.u can just have a photocopy with u incase.most ppl here have said they were not asked to present it at the border when they arrived.
Your second question, if u want your docs to be returned to your partner in peace then U MUST include a prepaid stamped envelop in the package to be sent to Sheffield.they will put your docs in that envelop and send back to your partner. Home office WILL NOT send your docs back free of charge

Hello House,
I was refused yesterday and I very sad about it.

The ECO who handled my case wasn’t nice at all.

My husband started a new job in September last year and has been in working before then. So we submitted 6months payslip that is 5months from his recent job and 1 month from his previous job wc ended in August last year. I was refused based on the fact that my husband hasn’t worked with his recent employer for 6months. My point is my husband still works and I believe if they needed his 6th month payslip the ECO should have sent an email. Plus my husband submitted a letter from his employer and also 6 months bank statement. Right now i am torn apart. I dunno if appealing is the way forward or I should just reapply. Please i need an urgent response.

Thanks
U would have waited 6mnths to get the 6th month payslip before applying. On the other hand if u wanted to combine the old and new job u would have gotten 12mnths payslips..5mnths frm the new job and the rest from the old job...it was clearly stated in th requirements. If thats the only reason u were rejected, Moving foward i think u have 2 options...u either appeal and wait another 2yrs or u wait to get the complete payslips and then re apply.which will be a shorter route

Hello house. Good morning.

Please, is inclusion of tenancy agreement a must to meet the accommodation requirement?

Hubby lives in a rented apartment and we presented landlord's letter, property inspection report and utility/council tax bills.

I've been really bothered since I noticed we omitted the tenancy agreement... Do people get refused on this basishuh
I cant say if ull be refused on that basis but its a must to include tenancy agreement to meet accommodation requirement...mayb the gurus in the house will have a different opinion

Good morning everyone, I have also been a silent follower for some time. I'm hoping to get some further insights please.
I'm soon to complete my online application and go for biometrics but I wanted to be sure of some things. Is it true I only need to take application form and passport to the appointment? What of previous passports I have? Do I submit them with the supporting docs to be sent to Sheffield?

Another question please. My UK husband says he wants to use Royal Mail to send all our docs to Sheffield. I will first send to him via DHL but he wants to use RM after that. Is this allowed? What experience do members have of this?

Thank you all so much for your assistance!
Your first question...yes they ll only take your recent passport and the first page of your application form. Every other document should be sent to ur hubby who ll send it to Sheffield.they ll tell u this when you go for biometrics.you can send photocopies of your old passports to him also to include.

Your second question. Yes u can send via DHL to ur hubby and he can send via Royal mail to Sheffield. Royal mail delivers to po box. He can use a tracking service to make sure it gets to sheffield .

Hi Guys,
Your opinions will go a long way; and if there's someone who has been in this situation and scaled through, please share their story.

2005 - I applied for a UK student visa but was refused due to insufficient funds and low WAEC grades.
2006 - Changed my name and DOB; got a new passport and applied for another student visa in 2007 and by this time, the UK had started taking biometrics as part of the application process. I was caught and presumably banned for 10 years. The passport used was not returned back to me as they believed that was not my true identity.
All these I did as I was ignorant and just despirate to have a bright future, which I am already having without stepping out of Nigeria.
All my siblings eventually left Nigeria in the struggle and live in US, Canada and France; I am the only one left here for now grin

Fast forward to 2018, I have since graduated from Uni and now working as an analyst for an Oil Company.

Now, I have a fiancee who is settled in the UK and who will eventually be a British citizen in 2019. We plan to get married next year and I am planning to apply for a spose visa. I will declare my previous applications, including the change of name and biometrics, which I believe would now have been deleted as it is over 10 years; however, I am sure there is a likelihood of a refusal under section 320 but I will appreciate if there's someone who has such experience and who can share what they did.
I work full time and I earn a considerably huge amount of salary. I also have a business and few properties and can show a genuine bank account with good cash flow and a balance of over N40m; my fiancee also earns over £30k yearly, so finance is not an issue.
I am confident that I would normally meet the requirements if not for the refusals and ban which happened over 12 years ago.

Going by your experience guys, what do you suggest?
If i was in your shoes i wont even leave Nigeria immediately with such good job plus business and properties..i would wait till she has become a citizen. She can be visiting Nigeria since u may be refused a visit visa. U seem to be doing so well in your job.
