Hi everyone,
I am currently in the federal marriage registry Abuja, they are insisting in collecting money for the “clearance” that doesn’t exist....
Is the marriage certificate from AMAC recognized by the UK embassy?
That is where i got mine it is recognised i used it for my application.....but i didnt pay more than 10k...5k to register and 5k on the day of the wedding....nothing else

I totally agree with you, I joined other groups as well. I’ve seen at least 3 people that were refused based on that. All you can do in that situation is to blame the HO for putting JJCs in charge of something like that. After everything you still have to reapply or appeal. If you can afford it pls try n be on the safer side, good luck.
I guess one can fire serious prayer to follow d application because different ppl look at d application ...because i cant imagine going to pay Naric again after having 2 masters degrees from d UK...for me i put in those and explained properly in my application form why i am exempted.

My advise is not based on what i read from this thread alone. I belong to some other groups that involves UK spouse visa. There is really no harm in trying one's luck or gambling. At the end of it, it is either head or tail. I Just felt the cost of application is too much to gamble with considering the cost that would be needed to be safer in this instance (e.g cost of NARIC cert). She can as well go with the UK Certificate as you did. Most of us came up with our ideas and advises about what is right or wrong based on our experiences and other people's...
This isnt the only forum i also belong to...its in their rules on the website, if u have a cert frm d uk u are exempted frm ielts or naric and u also hv the opportunity to give a good explanation on the application form..anyone that got refused based on putting their uk cert was a mistake on the part of the eco...

Wrong.... Read a few pages back... A lady applicant initially got refused, she paid for a fresh application and was successful......
wink

It must have been d mistake of d eco looking at hers..it could also be she didnt explain it in her application form..its clearly stated in their rules if u hv a degree from the UK. U can submit it and be exempted..

Hi @Dydaa Just to point something out from your post "I did my masters in d UK so dnt nid d NARIC cert or ielts!" I would advise that to be on a safe side, you get the NARIC certificate even though you had studied in the UK. We have seen cases where those that presented just their UK M.Sc certificates without the NARIC got refused. Better safe than sorry. Good-luck with your application.

I studied in the UK and used my masters cert and was granted didn'tdo any Naric ... from reading through this thread i havent seen anyone that used their masters obatined from d uk and got refused based on that....

Congratulations @claremont

Please dont encourage others to go against the stated rule. That it worked (luck) for you doesnt render it void. You can give it a trial for your on-coming spouse visa.

THE 28 DAYS RULE IS VERY IMPORTANT AS AT TODAY. FUTURE APPLICANTS PLEASE TAKE NOTE.
Word!!!!

Hello all, gurus in the house pls help me see to this. I did biometrics since 22 may 2018, got a mail on 28 Aug 2018 that decision has been taken, which was about the 70th day, but since then I haven't heard anything, sent escalation mail to visa Sheffield but they said it's no more within their capacity, though they will help escalate to passport handlers( which I guess is tls). And it's not updated on the tracker, that decision has been made or that my passport is ready.

Pls what do u suggest I do? Waiting 70 days wasn't easy for me, not to be be increasing to 80 days as we speak. Thank you
You should head to tls and check if your passport is there already

it is not as difficult as most peeps makes it. do the minimum requirement dem asked and u should be fine.

we just picked up a visa not long and i didnt even put much effort into it but made sure i gave dem no excuse (technically).

couldn't find my contract of employment and some oda shite like dat. so went to my bin pile stuck my hand in brought out anything with my company logo on it off it went to sheffield. grin grin grin

please dont try it though cause i met the reguirements anyways but cant be bothered to look for them.

hope they send my shite back.
Not everyone can be as lucky..u cant say its not as difficult as ppl make it....remember its not one Eco looking at all d applications. Different ppl look for different things...so its better to b safe than sorry...i included any and all documents that will help my case because i already didnt hv a good immigration record so i left no room for doubt...my hubby wasnt called neither was his office called and we got out visa right ontime depite the fact it was a standard application..ive never taken anything more serious than d way i took my application

Please does the 28 days rule apply to anything else except payslips and bank statement? For example, letter from employer?
I think it applies to letter from employer..i went the extra mile to ensure the letter from Landlord was not older than 28days...didnt want stories

Ridiculous is an understatement... If your intended Spouse is also a Nigerian, I'll advise you to go for the 21 or 7 days notice. With the 7days notice, your intended spouse will have his/her foreign address registered instead of the Nigerian address but with the 21 days notice, he/she has to give a Nigerian address.

I think the whole DSS thingy is just a way to extort money.
But wait oh i did my court wedding in Abuja ..i filled d forms myself as my hubby was in d uk at d time ..i used his UK address...in giving d 21 days notification for marriage i dont remember submitting any passports ...they only asked us to come with identity on the day of d marriage which they didnt even check..am surprised ppl are having to pay all this ridiculous amount of money. .i paid 5k wen i went to notify and paid another 5k on d day of the wedding

Good evening all
Gurus in the house, please I need your advice on this issue. I intend to apply for settlement visa to join my fiancé in November and we intend to have our registry marriage in October.
However, my fiance has dual citizenship; British and Nigerian, We intended he went through the registry marriage as a British citizen but we're being asked for security clearance from the DSS or a fee of N100,000 to wave that requirement.

1. My question is, would my fiance going through the registry marriage as a Nigerian hamper my settlement visa application?
2. Having the marriage in October and applying for the visa in November won't pose any issues for us in the visa application, would it?

Thanks
And if u are having d registry in Nigeria he should be using his Nigerian identity. ..when u get to d application he can bring out his British identity....

I am thinking why dont you do the court wedding in Nigeria and just apply for spousal settlement rather than applying for fiancé visa which seems like a longer process to be settled in the Uk...#justmythoughtsthough

There is no requirement for that for visit visas however if you have recent large transfers that are not consistent you would need to explain same in a cover letter.

I'm not a slient follower obviously but I would like to post my timeline.
It's a YES!! For me
This is my second application
First application (standard application)- Abuja
Biometrics- May 31st 2017
NSF Email - August 17th 2017
I escalated 4 times. My husband's MP wasn't very helpful
November 22nd 2017 - Refusal for English requirement.

Second application ( priority)
Biometrics- June 1st
Escalated once on - July 13th
Contacted MP on August 8 he said decision was made August 7th
Decision made email - August 13th
Courier delivery - August 15th
vignette- August 14 - September 15

My first refusal was a stupid mistake of submitting an original reference letter from school with a general training ielts test instead of the original certificate of my Uk master's degree certificate. In those few months I waited I went through all the immigration rules I could find.
Congratulations...i rejoice with u...d wait is finally over...

Hello Nairalanders,

Please how do I show proof of communication (FaceTime) for the past 18months?

We have Whatsapp messages & iMessages (over 160 pages extracted) , we also have email conversations, and e-cards. Our headache is just the retrieving over 18months voice&video call logs.

Going forward I intend to screenshot the call logs every other day but I’m afraid ordinary 6months call log won’t be sufficient.

Please Advise.

Thanks all..,..
This is what i did for mine....
I used only whatsapp chats....no phone logs no emails...nothing...just whatsapp chats.
And this was how i did it..
I took screenshots of our conversations going 2yrs back..i took about 10 per month. Transferred them to my laptop.i then created a landscape view using microsoft word and drew 5rows and 5colunms per page and then inserted d chats into them giving me 50 pages for 2yrs chats...my hubby printed them in d uk with coloured printed and it worked for us just fine.
Ive attached a sample picture ..mine was 10pictures per mnth though..d pic i sent is 5pics per mnth but u get d drift

Oh I see. Heathrow is always like that. Their wahala there is always extra.

When I mentioned Arik, I was referring to Arik when it was really Arik... not the crap they have today. My first experience with them to The UK was actually over 6 years ago. But now I can never ever try Arik again. My final experience was when I traveled to Ghana 2 years ago and they delayed me for about 5 hours with no single explanation or even “sorry”.

Of course BA is king as well as Virgin... Lufthansa too is nice.... but try Emirates too and you will know that Ethiopian is just a learner lol.

Anyway. Welcome again. Hope you’re settling in well
If ill have to wait anything more than 3hrs(like ethiopia) for Emirate stop over then i dont think ill like to try them...
Thanks alot..yes i am settling in well..lived in d uk 2013 to 2016 during my masters programs so am kinda not new to their system..already have NI so m just searchin for jobs....

I came in through that same Birmingham airport last month and I wasn’t asked much questions... nothing like “show me your TB certificate”. I also had a few degrees in the U.K. and wasn’t asked any questions other than a few details about my studies then. I wasn’t detained and all. I don’t know why yours was like that.

I don’t think I spent more than 5 minutes with the border man before I went to pick my luggage and left the airport. Anyway, the most important thing is you’re in now so welcome ma’am....

In terms of the airline, maybe you should try emirates or Air France/KLM (these are my two bests out of the few airlines I’ve used to travel). I’ve once used Kenyan airways and Arik too though.
I didnt come in through Birmingham. .i came through heathrow....i think it depends on d border force person u meet...
And no ill pass on Airfrance..total crap never a nice experience with them for me..Arik ISSA NO for me ...they can delay your entire life for one trip...never used Emirates...for now my favs are Ethiopian, lufthansa and British Airways

lol, do not worry about such things. This is a first and I'm sure she won't have been turned back even if she didn't have the photocopy.

TB certificate is not a border check requirement, but so you don't panic at the airport kindly travel with copies of all your documents. Your sponsor can send you pictures or scans of the documents for you to print when the application supporting documents package is returned ok.

Once you get the visa, the likelihood of been turned back at the airport is slim (but not impossible).

This is just my opinion.
My dear for everyone it is different oh that's what i realised..i was delayed for more than 45mins...so many questions were asked of me thank God i had all d answers . They even asked to see my previous residence permit as a student and asked to see my old passport to see d refusal stamps and my entries and exits...thank God that for every document asked for i had it with me in either original of photocopy

Hello beautiful people.so i arrived the UK safely into the waiting arms of my hubby today using Ethiopian airways, my new favourite airline now..impeccable service and excellent customer service.
Got to the border and the lady just kept asking me series of questions about my immigration history asking about my schooling time in d UK and when i left the UK as though all the information wasnt on my passport.she detained me for a while to check the information i gave her and said if all checks out she ll update her system with my visa new status. Suprisingly she asked for my TB certificate.explained to her why it wasnt with me and she asked for the photocopy which i gave her.
Immediately i got to Birmingham i went straight to d postoffice and picked up my BRB before going home cos i have 2days left on my entry clearance. On getting home with the husband they had delivered our documents.they returned everything we sent including the photocopies
Refusal the 1st time was because tb and english language docs were not submitted. These two docs were available at the time of biometrics. Not submitted because it was assumed it will be forwarded by the designated centres to home office.Appeal was done through tribunal.

Getting to do priority now is because we have been waiting since March to hear from tribunal and no news. So instead of keep on waiting for tribunal which will take forever, thought it wise to get apply again this time using priority(one month). This i can't find priority on ukvisa site during payment. Its only super priority which is an extra 400 Pound to priority as stated on tls website.

You know ricki one needs to pay for the visa application, health insurance etc on ukvisa website after filling the application and submitting not tls website. That was why i asked the question if any1 knows why priority(except super priority) is not on the list & how i will go about getting the one priority instead of super priority?[/quote

You can pay for priority on the TLS website after paying the normal fee on ukba site...i think ull find d priority under added services on tls website

Success!!

We applied on priority. To be honest I think priority is daylight robbery, extra 50% charge and you’re not actually guaranteed anything as UKVI can’t be held to account for the timeframe.

Here’s our timeline.

Applied: 5th May
Biometrics: 21st May
App prepared email: 1st June
Escalated @ 30 BD: 3rd July
Emailed MP for assistance: 6th July
Email saying app is in last stages: 10th July
Email saying they’re too busy for a decision: 13th July
MP emailed to say UKVI informed them we had been successful: 18th July
Decision: 18th July
Passport picked: 18th July

41 working days from bio to passport collection.
Patience they say is a virtue. .the most impt thing is u got your visa...Glory to God and congratulations

First of all, I am happy for you on the decision to overturn your refusal, that's awesome.

On your questions, here is my take:
1. When you made the IHS payment, weren't you directed to an appointment page? If not, I will advise you take along the previous application receipt and refusal documents received from Home Office along with copies of your IHS payment confirmation and the overturn emails from Home Office. Just carry all, you will know what you need when you get there. But more importantly, take your passports.

2. Will advise you submit yourself.

3. Do not think you need to do another TB test, if it's required they would have asked for it in the email. The original TBS test certificates have been assessed during your application.

4. Do not think you have to pay for anything again. Maybe unless you want your passport couriered to you.

I am sure someone with a similar experience would respond shortly, again we are happy for you.
Once that TB cert has expired you ll need to do another to be on a safe side
