I am just leaving the bank to deposit some old cash that I have, I was told that commercial banks are not longer collecting the old 500 and 1000naira notes that I have deposit them at any CBN state branch.
Firstly, I will have to fill a form on CBN portal, then I will receive a code, it is with that code that I will proceed to CBN branch to deposit the cash.

There's a money laundering act already that says that an individual cannot have cash more 5million naira and company shouldn't keep cash of more than 10 million. How will I explain to CBN that I have such huge cash with me?

I have about 10million cash to deposit and this is what my account officer said. He also said that I can be arrested by EFCC is they see me with such cash.

This means that every criminal, looter and kidnapper with such cash cannot go to The CBN if they cannot explain the source of that money.

It has also crippled every the plan of rigging election because those old notes will not be collected by commercial banks.

Nobody will proceed to CBN office to deposit looted money. The cash will eventually become useless. They should have done that before now.

I am going to CBN tomorrow to deposit half of it first BTW.

Some people are jubilating because Mr president said the 1000 and 500 old note has stopped as legal tender, there are many people (farmers, businessman) with old naira note in the northern and southern part of the country and you want those people to lose their money because of politician.

Now, some politician has promised that people should continue using the old naira note in the northern part of the country and that if they elect as the govt, they will reverse the policy. Who will now carry the majority vote of the masses?

money-back to the people till Tinubu enters as president will revert the policy.

Following the crisis emanating from the scarcity of Naira notes and the Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki has appealed to angry Nigerians to shun violent protest.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday, the former lawmaker urged those protesting the scarcity to reserve their anger and express it during the forthcoming polls by voting out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to him, Nigerians have endured a lot of hardship imposed on them by the present administration.

He wrote, “I hereby appeal to the good people of Kwara State who went on protest earlier today over the continuing scarcity of petrol and the new currency notes to please maintain peace and remain calm.


“One can understand how these two negative developments have created untold hardship for our people. It is indeed a difficult time.

“However, while calling on the Kwara State Government to immediately introduce measures that will alleviate the suffering of the people, I want to urge our people that instead of embarking on any violent protest, they should express their grievances during the coming elections by voting against all the candidates of the party that has brought the needless crisis. Our people have endured a lot of hardship from this government.”


Saraki further stated that governance should be about solving problems confronting the people, stressing that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has failed in that regard.
