First time I have seen a Nigerian game live (from Nigeria) in a long time. Watching the game on BEN TV here in the UK and I have to be honest nothing has changed. The commentary, picture quality, jerseys, pitch...etc

Enjoying it..... still 0-0
ProgrammingRe: Let's Set Up a Non-Profit Developer Network by EzehM(op): 12:32pm On Oct 07, 2005
Not sure what you mean by ‘gain’

However this is my take. Financially, nothing. My original idea was simply something voluntary. People offering free time and services to a worthy project – just like you have done with this marvelous forum. I based the idea on a number of similar models that exist here in the UK. In terms of other veiled gains, I think it could offer those that decide to come on board – experience, exposure – something to add onto a CV, a broader knowledge of how software development works (i.e. methodologies) and a bit more.

I entirely understand and respect the ideas that tend to lean towards something profitable. It isn’t the model I have in my head, but it is one that I will ardently like to observe and contribute to (The voluntary thing isn’t really flying). I simply don’t have any ideas right now on how it will work…

Anyone got any ideas?

I think the best way to start will be to list our individual skills. Once we have enough interested parties, we can then move to the next level.

Me:
Skills - Software development (C++, Java, PHP)
Others: Software Architecture, Project Management and a bit more

SETTING UP A DEVELOPERS NETWORK

Just an idea, that I think should be run past Seun, the administrator of the forum. Can we set up a developers network?

The objective of this network will be to develop applications for voluntary and charity organisations in Nigeria. The scope will also cover schools, hospitals etc. It should be a non-profit network, and can be seen as our own way of giving back to our society.

If its OK with the administrator, developers should please show their interest by putting down their names and skills.

Thanks

TV/MoviesRe: Genevieve Nnaji for Hollywood? by EzehM(m): 5:44pm On Sep 09, 2005
Genny is my home girl and I think she does have some talent, a lot of it actually. But any talk about Hollywood might just be a wee bit untimely. I think there are masses of factors (ability, politics etc) that might make that dream unfeasible. I read RMD’s article online a while ago, and my first opinion at the time was that he possibly must have missed his medication before he wrote it. A bit harsh I know, I think he either believed it or wanted to impress her. Whichever way I think we all know our level(s) in the scheme of things. Nigeria and Nigerians have always had a very dreamlike opinion about themselves. While this isn’t such a terrible thing - it helps to be factual …If we start doing that then maybe we would be on track to sorting out our problems.

Genny, there is nothing wrong with being a big fish in a small pond.

TV/MoviesRe: Nigerian American Wannabees in Nollywood Movies by EzehM(m): 5:32pm On Sep 09, 2005
I never go out of my way to buy/rent Nigerian movies that don't have what I call 100% local content (with the exception of my cousin's [name withheld] movies. I prefer the Osuofia type movies...They are funny and more importantly real. No fake accents, or whatever. Just real.

BusinessRe: Global Business Outsourcing and Nigeria by EzehM(m): 5:07pm On Sep 09, 2005
Nigeria can unquestionably benefit from outsourcing; I think Nigerians possess the some of the skills and knowledge required. I work for a big IT company in the UK that currently ‘outsources’ her software development to India and South Africa, and anytime I ask why Nigeria isn’t taken into account - the question of trust always comes up. We have a global image that reeks.

PoliticsRe: Orji Kalu says President Obasanjo is Corrupt. EFCC Investigates. by EzehM(m): 4:18pm On Sep 09, 2005
We can only hope that all the assertions raised by Kalu are accurately and openly scrutinized. At this stage it doesn’t really matter what his motives are, or whether the allegations are true or deceitful. Only a meticulous investigation will make that known.

My opinion can be found on my personal blog http://ababoy..com
