Glad to see people from the SE, "South-South" and the Middle Belt that are speaking up. |

Lets just say that Ahmadu Bello outsmarted the so called intelligent men of Obafemi Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe. You don't need schooling to play the game that he played.
Those Fulani are well versed in years of conquest first started by their ancestor, Uthman dan fodio. |

006,
With you analogy, Zik who I see as A believed that he could use C as a pawn. So he actually made a smart move going by your analogy. Why use the equally smart person, B who I assume is Awolowo who is a potential rival.
Zik thought he could outsmart Bello but it was Bello who had the last laugh. |

006: I don’t want to talk about the other 2 founding fathers, Bello and Awo, my anger lies with Zik. I think he was the greatest fool of all time. A good leader is supposed to be visionary and when he fails, he should take the blame, 100%. We should give more praise to Dr. Michael Okpara who was a true leader of his people and the entire region. Yet, no one gives him the praise he rightfully deserve. He should be given more honors than Ojukwu whom I have tromendous respect for our dear leader. Nnamdi Azikiwe never gave a damn about our people. Let the truth be known is that he only wanted power. It was only a means to an end. |

Andre Uweh: @ONLYTRUTH: regarding western Cameroun, why do we want to keep them in Eastern Nigeria when they do not want to. When Fredrick Lugard almagated the north and southern Nigeria, the Camerounians were not there. If not for the German loss of WW1, they would not have been in Nigeria to start with. They are now where they have always belonged to i.e The Camerouns. You do know the Ekoi and Efik speaking people are split between Cameroon and Nigeria. Eastern Nigeria has more in common with the people of Western Cameroon than we do with the rest of Nigeria. That is a fact. Heck, my Aro ancestors traveled extensively in modern day Cameroon and there are Aro who live amongst the people of Cameroon. My great-great-great-great grandfather traded extensively in Cameroon before the Europeans ever penetrated into the interior. Do not allow these European made borders confuse you. |

I felt safer in my village then in either Umuahia or Aba.
Remember the elders of my village would tell us who traveled to the West, that no kidnapper dare enter our village or they would be slaughtered!
And the people of my village meant business. |

I wonder if y'all actually fight like that off nl. Yes I do like to fight. Not too much while I am in the U.S., because it seems like their police do not like to look the other way. But I never pass up on a good fight. I am very aggressive. Now are you aggressive or are you passive in certain areas. |

These people definitely like to fight. Even in their Assembly!!! Nothing wrong with fighting as long as it does not turn deadly. We humans need an outlet to release our anger. Fighting each other is perfect. |

sjeezy8: lol I have to make atleast ONE post on this thread.
@poster if Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe, And Ahmadu Bello, are All Clueless Founding Fathers what is ojukwu? What did he ever achieve? He didnt do shiot as the head of the east and he even failed at making a biafra a country.
So I guess that makes Ojukwu a failure- If biafra was a country today one could atleast give him credit- but its not he is a failure. Why would you mention Ojukwu? He was too young to be considered a Founding Father of Nigeria. This is about Awolowo, Azikiwe and Bello. |
Politics › Re: Awolowo Had No Equal by EzeUche(m): 4:10am On Jun 09, 2010 |
The so called "Zik" of Africa never gave a damn about his people
Dr. Okpara should be given more respect yet you do not hear much Igbos talking about the man. |
Politics › Re: Awolowo Had No Equal by EzeUche(m): 4:05am On Jun 09, 2010 |
dayokanu: Lets look at it.
Ahmadu Bello: Noticed that his people the Hausas would be shortchanged if we got independence earlier and rejected the offer of independence in the 1960's. When the British were leaving, he ensured that the North was in a good position politically which they still enjoy till today.
Awolowo: Observed that education was the key for his people and came with the free education and massive infrastructural development in the West. In sme communities in Delta state, Awo schools are the only elementary schools in the community. He rallied his people behind him as a key bloc which is why the mention of Awolowos name still win elections in Yorubaland even after 20yrs he died.
Ojukwu: Noticed at a key time in history his people were about to be taken for a ride and he acted . Though personally I think he should have properly prepared for a longer war. But just imagine if Ojukwu did not stand up at that time, what would be the fate of Igbos now in Nigeria. What was Zik's opinion during the pogroms in the North? He was a key person but what did he do? During Biafra he neither supported even when his people were being murdered.
Adaka Boro and Sarowiwa: All brought the global attention to the sufferings of his people thats the begining of the South SOuth struggle. Without them the NigerDelta would still be overlooked and I am sure GJ cant even sniff the presidency This assessment was actually very good. Even though I have problems with all these people except Ojukwu, your words are very true about what they did. Kudos to you! |
