Hey, I can recall I overheard your interview today. I was still on the line waiting for paper work verification when they interviewed you. That man on window 19 wss the nicest today. At first, he appeared very strict, but after he interviewed one lady that looked like she was pregnant with glasses, the story changed. He started smiling and was very friendly all through.

Congratulations once more.

JadesolaAde:
I have been following this page for more than 5years now. I want to appreciate everyone that have shared their experiences making the process easier for us coming behind.
Went for my interview today and my visa was approved to the glory of God.
The process was more of conversation than an interview.
After all the security checks. Entering into the interview hall we meet another queue. Well I was called to window16 where all my documents were collected the ones not needed were returned I was asked to sit that my number will be called. After like 10min I was called to window 19 which I was actually praying to get cos the man has been pleasant with all his interviews. He asked the following questions.

1. What is my name
2. Have I been married before?
3. Has he been married before?
4. Do either of us has any kids ?
5. How many times have we met?
From our pictures he picked one and said oh this is dubai and I said yes, he was like did you enjoyed your vacation there. Just normal conversation. I think it is more of conversation than interview.
Next thing I heard was I will be approving your visa.
Glory be to God.

Let me first thank God Almighty who made it possible that we embark on this process and see it to the end. I reserve my special thanks to all the great comrades in this house for your immense contributions. Truly, Nairaland is a university with distinction.

I finally went for my interview today and got approved. I will say, 98% of cases that were interviewed today got approval. That was really encouraging especially when you stand in the line and see people ahead of you going home with slips and smiles on their faces. It was even more encouraging that you could hear all the transcripts today and that helps the person next in line to be better prepared knowing the likely question to be answered.

My transcript was one of the simplest and most straightforward.

VO: What is your name.
Anw: .....

VO: Raise your right hand and take the oath:
Answ: I did

VO: Have you ever been married
Anw: No

VO: Do you have kids
Anw: No

VO: Does you fiancee have kids
Answ: No

VO: has she ever been married
Anw: no

VO: What is her occupation
Anw: I told him. (VO replied: that's wonderful)

VO: Place your right four fingers on the scanners. ( Repeated same for thumbs)

VO: Where did you meet her
Answ: I told him

VO: When last did she visit you.
Anw: I told him two months ago

VO: I will approve your visa. Once you travel to the US, you must marry within 90 days. But if you chose to change your mind, you must leave the US as soon as you decide.

VO: Passed a printout to me with description on how to pick up my visa and passport.

When I stepped outside, I could hear the song "a new day has come". The feeling cannot be explained. Called my fiancee who has been awake all night waiting for the news. The rest was history.

Anyone reading this, may you receive favour.
Isee...Iseee...Iseee!!!

Go to Algbon beside immigration at Ikoyi. Once you are standing in front of First Bank, as anybody to direct you. You can go through the link attached from nairaland. Go with one passport photo and international passport.

Bros there is nothing wrong. Some of us waited between 8 to 9 months to get NOA2 approval. So you are just 7 months old. Wait till end of April or middle of May before you raise alarm.

good day elders in the house, please i'm fresh here (actually here on behalf of a friend) and would appreciate your assistance. My friend and her guy applied for the K1 visa since August last year and have since been waiting. all they got was an acknowledgement mail stating that their case was received and no word since then. please i just want to know if there is something they should be doing or should have done next or is the delay being experienced by everyone. please your guidance will be very much appreciated. Also, is there any whatsapp group for this purpose? i will like to be added if their is one. thank you in anticipation of the requested guidiance.

Well articulated and well kowashiated piece. Thanks a lot @ Airboy333. We move.

Airboy333:

This is the number for NVC you’ll call to obtain the case and invoice id numbers. You’ll need your USCIS case number, the full name of both the applicant and beneficiary and both birthdays in order to receive any information from them. So have that in handy. Some nvc officers will also ask for email address. If you don’t have one on file with them you can update it at this time. You can also request to add an email address to your case. They have an email address you can email to obtain information but their response time to the emails is terrible. You’d have to wait weeks, even months.
Note: if you call them and it’s been 2 weeks or more since your case has been approved with USCIS and they’re still telling you they have not received your case, hang up. Call back again then tell the next person you need to expedite your case due to severe financial loss and you were told you needed your case id number to do so. It’ll be better if the petitioner calls NVC for this information. Remember to get both the case and invoice ID number
0. https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx once you obtain a case number from NVC, this is the link you’ll use to check the status of your case at NVC. It’ll say “At NVC” if NVC is still working on your case. “In Transit” if it is on its way to the consulate. “Ready” once the consulate has received it and this is the time they’d prefer for you to set up your interview. Though they’ll be a slight delay waiting for them. As long as your status changes to ready before your interview date you should be fine.
0. https://ceac.state.gov/GenNIV/Default.aspx This is the link you’ll use to fill out the DS-160. You can either fill this out prior to paying the $265 visa fee at GTBank or after. I’d suggest after so you can set up interview immediately after filing the DS-160.
0. http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ This is the link you’ll use to set up interview. Have this in handy with you when setting up the interview: The confirmation number/visa application number from the DS-160 confirmation page. Your receipt number from the GTBank for the visa fee you paid, the case ID number and the USCIS case number.
0. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/family-immigration/nonimmigrant-visa-for-a-fiance-k-1.html#1 This link provides a guide on the steps and procedures for the K1 visa. It’ll give you information on the documentation you need to have ready, an overview or much more.
0. https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/iv-dv-supplemental/LGS-Lagos.pdf this link will provide you with the steps to take for medical exam. It’ll also have the pre-interview checklist and list of approved physicians. Please call them or rather go see them to make inquiries because the information the consulate gives online is inaccurate to what actually happens. Their hours of operation for medical exam is not what it says online. They are not open from 8am-5pm. They’re only open from 8am-10am. Make inquiries first! Call, go there! Don’t assume.
0. Here’s the information on how to obtain the police certificate : Applicants need to contact the Deputy Inspector General, Criminal Investigation Department, Nigeria Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. The applicant should bring information regarding their full name, place and date of birth, nationality, passport number, date and place of issuance (for current passport or passport used during applicant's stay in Nigeria), exact periods of residence in Nigeria and addresses where applicant resided.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Nigeria.html This is link I got the information from.
0. You’ll need your original birth certificate and a photo copy for the interview. Also I’d advise getting the declaration of age and having that handy. My uncle said you’ll need that once you migrate here. You can obtain your birth certificate from the local government/hospital you were born in. Make sure the name on the application filed with uscis matches the name on the birth certificate. I don’t know anything about name changes so you might have to make inquiries on your own about name changes. You can obtain the declaration of age at the National Population Commission. Here’s their link with their contact info, location e.t.c http://population.gov.ng/contact-us/
0. For anything that you do throughout this process, I’d suggest having your international passport with you when you go make inquiries or go to these appointments. Get new passport photos. Remember they are only valid if you’ve gotten them done within 6 months and has not passed the 6 months gap. Also, make photocopies and also have the originals of every single document you are taking with you to your interview. People often get confused so let me elaborate on this, the DS-260 is for people filing spousal K3 visa. Their process is different. The K1 visa applicants fill out the DS-160. On the affidavit of support. The I-864 is for k3 visas/family based visas. The I-134 is for K1 visas, b1/b2 visas etc.

I hope this information helps! Good luck on your process and I wish you all the best.

So what about medicals. I thought I would need a document from the embassy to go for medicals. How do I know which hospital and what is expected of them.

Treasureprince1:
you don’t need any packet from them, you have all the information you need, go ahead pay your mrv fee and schedule your interview asap.

Yes ohh. My case turned ready I guess yesterday evening. I just saw it this morning after reading your announcement. Thanks for the update

I have written US embassy for my packet, but I got an automatic reply stating that they no longer respond to such requests due to shortage of staff. That they now treat cases in the order they receive it. So I presume we just wait on them to send the packet for onward procession to medicals.

Daalu nu.

By the way all those whose cases were on transit as of last week, i think it be READY by now

Immigrant

Ok thanks. Please is K1 classified as immigrant or nonimmigrant under the CGI account.

Treasureprince1:
any comes first but for you to book an interview appointment you must create a cgi account. For the medicals, once you have an interview date, it’s cool to do you medicals three weeks to your interview. You MUST have an interview date before medicals
Travel / Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by ezinwaJesu(m): 10:04pm On Mar 11, 2022
Thanks for the clarification. Please which one comes first, CGI account or DS 160. And secondly, what if I book an interview date now and my medicals didn't happen early. Don't you think I need to be sure of when to do medicals before scheduling an interview. Just my thoughts.

Treasureprince1:
congratulations!! Go ahead and create your CGI account on https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ pay your mrv fee at any GT bank branch and always check to know when there will be available dates so you can book one, your status will turn READY any moment from now,l. Fill your ds160 as well, don’t wait for the embassy to send you an email as that will take a lot of time. All the best to you

Thanks a lot Shariaston, at least we have a guide now. So guys, if your case is in transit, biko make we dey monitor the portal until food is ready. Wish all of us success. Daalu.

shariaston:
You don't have to do anything at the moment. Calm down...everyone seems to be in a hurry. You cannot expedite anything at the moment.
The Consulate in Lagos will send your Fiance/e or You a mail when your case is ready or you can keep checking on the Portal and when it shows "Ready" then you start your process. The only thing I will advise you to get now is "Birth Attestation" from the National Population Commission.

When your case shows "Ready" or either you or your fiance/e receives a mail to that effect then you can go ahead and pay Visa fee. The mail will tell you the recommended hospital for Medicals and other details. During Medicals, you are required to show letter from Embassy detailing your "Case ready status".

So calm down, you are almost there...Meanwhile spend time GATHERING THE RELEVANT DOCS. This is the most important STEP.

I went through this few years ago.

I will suggest you read the first few pages of this thread. But from my experience, you can't do anything now until she visits and you guys are able to document convincing evidence of your meeting together. You will keep record of her flight tickets, any expense you share during her visit. Most importantly take enough pictures including ones taken with your family members. Go out together and document events in pictures.

At the end of her visit, she will go back with printed copies of all pictures and other documents. Then she will attach them to the petition form she fill and send hard copy by mail to appropriate authority in US with Bank draft of the application fee. Get the full details from page one.

My financee visits in 6months time from now. I'm completely a novice as regards the K-1 process. We intend getting married in the US.
Please I would appreciate a guide on what I need to start doing pending when she visits. She's going to petition on my behalf after her first visit.
Are there documents I would need to start processing or some other things i need to do before she files for me?

First Bank has gone mad. I can't believe a Bank of that magnitude can go days with silly network issues. This has become a reoccurring thing and they never send any messages to their customers just line Stanbic to apologise for the down time. Very bad of them and I am considering closing that account. Frustrating.

If you can meet all the stringent requirements to secure a B1/B2 visa at this COVID period, then visiting him may be a good idea. Where that is not a feasible option, the best bet will be for him to visit Nigeria and meet with you and your family members with different pictures to enable him go back to the US and file a k1 petition for you. If I were you, I will convince him to visit Nigeria. Either way, you still make the decision.

Cheers.

I would like to know what you guys think would be easier. He is 34 and I am 25. Should he come to Nigeria first so we could have evidence of meeting and if possible apply for a K1 visa?. How easy would it be for me to get a visit visa to stay for like 15days,wouldn't the reason for visit seem weak?

Politics / Re: Sanwo-Olu Commissions Newly Reconstructed Road Network In Victoria Island by ezinwaJesu(m): 7:41pm On Dec 13, 2021
That Adeola Hopewell has been an eyesore since for over 20 years. I wonder why it took them over 20 years to fix that road. The way they work on Victoria Island is very shameful. One major road in every 4 years. It started with Adeola Odekun. Next Ajose. At some point they abandoned Bishop aboyode cole until major companies started smoking dust before they fixed it. Then they remembered Ligali Ayorinde which still floods till today. Next they said it is time for Akin Adesola after years of cleaning gutter. I was shocked when they eventually remembered this Adeola Odekun and Church gate street.

All these projects done in VI 20 years can be completed in one year by a serious govt. But in this part of the world, we glorify mediocrity.

Who knows maybe it will take another 4 years to remember Sanusi Fafunwa and Adeyemo Alakija. Victoria Island is commercially too big for all these pimpom projects.

Shameless Governor & system of Government, commissioning inner city roads, shouldn’t that be the jurisdiction of the Local Government Iru/Victoria Island? Victoria Island that The Federal Government has already developed before I was even born?

Mine is showing the same. My fiancee had called NVC late last month and they informed her US embassy gave instruction to temporarily stop sending cases from NVC. So I guess the status is showing that the case is still there and has not been sent.

On the issue of tracking under immigrant Visa, I suspect that even though the visa category for K1 is non-immigrant, it might be processed on the same platform with other immigrant like spousal. That is why you have those instruction under "AT NVC", because NVC processes both Immigrant and K1. I also noticed on their website, they don't clearly differentiate between the two while
giving instructions. Gurus in the house can throw more light.

LakesidesNG:
Good day house, My fiancée called the NVC Yesterday and she was given the case Number and an invoice number. The Case Number begins with LSG********. And the invoice number I tried to track it but to my surprise it only tracked under IMMIGRANT VISA instead of Tracking Under NON Immigrant Visa. what does this implies and for those who got ready is it and things it’s showing at your end ?
