How To Secure Your Google Account

Check your recovery information

Now, of all the various google account security tips for your google account, many users seem to dump ''the recovery information''. This section in your google account settings is very i repeat, very important. In the event of ever loosing your google account, you always have the recovery option where google will send you specific details via text for account retrieval.

You will need to provide google with certain details in the ''my account'' section. You will give information like.

+ A recovery phone number.

+ A recovery Email.

+ A security question.

You can however use only the recovery phone number option, but I'd advice that you use all.

Google will not use your contact details to send spam messages to you, they will only use the information you provide if they need to reach you about your account.


To setup recovery for google account security

Log in to http://myaccount.google.com/security
Scroll down to where you see ''account recovery option''



Click on any of the recovery options you want to change.
And your set.


Creating a strong password





Another tip to keep your google account safe is to create a strong password, you should use a unique password for each of your important accounts.

Re-using passwords is quite risky, if someone figures out your password for any of your accounts? Maybe twitter or instagram and it tally's with your google account? That person would gain access to your account.

You should also use a mix of letters, symbols and numbers in you password. most people use easy passwords because they do not want to forget it, but trust me, it is better to forget your password and recover it, than for your account to get ha*ked.

So it is time to be a bit geeky and step up your game, use numbers, symbols and a mix of upper and lower case letters for your password.

For example, a seven character password with numbers, symbols and mixed letters is harder to guess because it has 20,000 times as many possible combinations than a seven character password with only lower case letters.


Finally do not use personal information like your birthday, example ''12november2014'', a password like that is easy to guess. you should use a hybrid password like ''pal128BIGBOY/2@'' but be sure not to forget it, and do not write it down anywhere.


Turn on 2-step verification




An extra layer of google account security is added to your google account when you enable the 2-step verification.

This verification really boosts your google account security. The method requires you to have access to your phone, as well as your username and password.

The sweet thing about this is, when someone steals or guesses your password, they still can't sign in to your account because they don't have your phone.

--You sign in with two details, your normal password.

If you would want to activate the step verification to secure your google account? Follow these steps.

Go to the 2 step verification page ()
In the 2-step verification box on the right, select start setup.
Finally, follow the step by step process for setup.

When you are done with the settings, and the 2-step verification is fully activated, the next time you try to log in, you will receive a text message with a verification code.

Note: Add an email recovery option as well, this ensures that you can access your account in the future in case of any mishap

Never use your google account password on another website ( do not use your google account password to register any account on any site)
Whenever you use a public computer to sign in, make sure you sign out, also clear cache, forms and cookies on your browser on a regular basis.

How to detect suspicious activity on your google account

If you notice any of the below behaviour while using your google mail then it is possible that your google account is no longer secured.

Some messages have disappeared without you removing them.
Messages that you didn't send appear in sent mail section.
Your friends complain that you send them spam messages.
Your account activity shows sign in activity at unusual times, and from unusual computers.

Backup Phone Contacts With Gmail, Google


Losing a phone has various setbacks, losing your contacts is one of the major setbacks. why? Well there are some very important contacts you know you might never get your hands on again thus putting you at a point of regret. If you have ever misplaced your device without backing up your contacts or copying them out on a diary then you totally know how hurting it can be to lose contacts.

The old way of backing up your contacts has always been, copying out your all the numbers on your phone into a diary. Now the big question would be. what if you have over a 2500 contacts?. It would probably take forever to copy all out.

Now for me? I save all my contacts on my Gmail (google mail). so if i ever lose my phone or change my phone i don't have to copy contacts to/from a book or sim card to my new phone. saving contacts to gmail account is one of the best ways to ensure you of a secured contact list. For me all i'll have to do is sign in my Gmail account a new phone, and my contacts will be automatically synchronized with my new device.

How To Backup Phone Contacts To Gmail From Android.

I'll show you some easy to understand steps to backup contacts to your google account.

Now if you don't have a google account on your device, lets briefly touch that before proceeding with backing up. If you already have a Google account on your phone, skip this step.

Creating A Google Account With Your Android device.

Step 1:
Go to settings on your device.

Step 2:
Navigate to Accounts and tap on it.

Step 3:
You'll then see a list of other registered accounts, If you don't see any list, just ignore. Click on Add account.


Step 4:
Navigate through the list of accounts and select Google.

Step 5:
A questionnaire/survey will pop up, correctly fill in your details, choose a gmail name and password that you wont easily forget and there you have it. Your google account has been created.


Now let's move on.

Backup Your Contacts Via Gmail.

This will only work if you have a successfully logged in Google account on your Phone.

Step 1:
Open your phone contacts and tap on the utility/option button, and you will see and option like Import/export. Tap on it.

Step 2:
You will then see another interface asking you where you want to copy to. Select your google account.

Step 3:
Another interface will pop up asking you where you want to copy From. You can select from the listed options (Service provider or phone contacts). and tap NEXT.

Step 4:
Select all the contacts you want to backup on your google account and tap NEXT.


You should now see a notification telling you how many contacts were copied successfully.


Backing up contacts to gmail is by far the best way to ensure a secured contact list. Like i said earlier, Restoring backed up contacts just requires google account log in on your new device. though for some devices, Your permission will be required for restoration.

Recover, Restore Data From Damaged Memory Card Or Drive


HEY Whatsup Nairalander, today i will show you[b] how to Recover data from corrupt usb drives, memory card without actually formatting it[/b]

You might be wondering if it is possible to recover data from a damaged, corrupt, locked, broken Micro Sd card or drive without actually formatting it? Well, it is possible and also easy! Formatting your SD should be your last resort.

Some of the reasons why data or files in a memory card or external storage drive sometimes gets corrupted, damaged, inaccessible/not detected might be because it was abnormally removed during usage, dropped, formatted or partitioned wrongly, virus infections, and a whole lot more.

A friend was playing songs on her Nokia C3-00, the battery was very low and suddenly it went off. After charging it, she couldn't find the memory card in the gallery and all her stuffs disappeared. Connecting the SDcard to a PC didn't help because it asked to format it(Sd card), and sometimes the formatting fails.

I have actually have been in that dreadful shoe before. My 16GB SDHC memory card got completely damaged. My phone was showing damaged sdcard, please format. When I tried to format it using the phone, it would show formatting failed.
I even tried accessing and formatting the memory card using other android devices and even symbian, and windows phones but to no avail.

Thinking a PC will solve it, I connected it to the Pc via a USB card reader, but immediately my computer said the disk can't be used unless its formatted.

In my confused state i found myself searching vigorously because I couldn't afford to loose the contents on the memory card. And then i found the answer.

Now if you have a memory card that is damaged, doesn't show up or get recognized in your phone, requesting for formatting before it can be used, locked, hidden contents, showing errors, corrupted files and you wouldn't want to loose them by formatting the memory card, please read on.

The software called Remo Recover will do a good job by helping you recover all of your files from a bad memory card without formatting it.

Unpack and save the folder on your PC.
To install, open the Remo Recover v4.0.0.34 folder and read the instructions in the readme.txt file
After installation, launch Remo Recover v4.0.0.34

(you can download the remo from the link above)

Now click on the Basic Edition, Media Edition or Pro Edition depending on what you need. All the same, you will still recover the files/data in your memory or storage drive. I used Pro edition for this tutorial.

After clicking the Edition you want, select the Option that suits you in the next page.
The drives on your Pc and other external drives will be displayed. Select the one that has the issue and click on the arrow button at the bottom right.

Remo Recover will start searching for lost partitions in your drive(memory card or hard disk, flashdrive etc)

After a while it will display a list of the drives or partitions it found.

Select the one that matches yours and then click the forward arrow at the bottom right ➡
Select OK on the prompt that says perform an additional scan for specific file types.

Manually select the file types you wish to recover or select Mark All to recover everything on the corrupted memory card. Click the forward arrow ➡ to proceed.
It will take a while to search all the music, photos and videos plus other files depending on the size.
After finding the lost data, click OK on the prompt that displays.

Note
Files recovered are in the folder icon while additional files are in the other folder icon with a red X.

Manually select the files you wish to save or select Mark All if you want to save every thing from the bad memory card.
Click Yes on the Save recovery session prompt.

Now click on the output folder and select any folder or create a new folder where you want the recovered files to be saved. Click Ok.

The recovery process will begin and will take a while depending on the size of the recovered files. Please do not interrupt it.

After the media files and other data have been saved, just go to the folder you selected and you will see all of your files gladly waiting for you.

You can now format the SD card or drive and then transfer the contents back.

So for the benefit of the ones that don't... I'll do a quick rundown.

Android Kitkat Hidden Game

If your device runs on kitkat, here's how to locate the hidden game.

Step 1.
On your device, go to settings and scroll down to about phone, open it and tap on Android version, tap it continuously for 6 times.

if tapping continuously doesn't work, i'll suggest tapping on your Android version continuously and very fast till the kitkat interface/logo appears.


Step 2.
When the kitkat logo appears, you'll have to tap on it for about 6 times again.

Step 3:
Now another interface will pop up, tap and hold for 2 seconds.

And there you have it,

Now for some of you that will find this game confusing, the aim of this game is to tap the biggest same color tiles to remove them and empty the screen, i found this game to be the least of all the hidden android games, but you can try it out. who knows, you might love it.

Now your game should pop up on your android lollipop device. i found this game to be quite cool, though extremely difficult. If you can scale through 5 lollipops then you truly deserve an award.

The aim of this game is to successfully control the android object through a series of moving lollipops.

Nope, the marshmallow users are not left out on the hidden game discovery, theirs is like that of the lollipop, but a bit hybrid.

Step 1:
Go to settings on your android marshmallow, navigate to about phone, tap on android version fast for about 6 times.


Step 2:
An interface will pop up with the marshmallow logo, tap on it 6 times and on the 6th time hold for 2 seconds.

The last secret/hidden game i'll talk about is on chrome browser, This game can only be played when you have no internet connection or your phone is on airplane mode. In this game your task is to successively control the dinosaur over a series of cactus plants. I enjoyed this game the most.

Google actually placed this dinosaur game on chrome browser so that you can play with it whenever your internet connection is not available.

here is how you can play this game.

Make sure your cellular data or WiFi connection is turned off.

Now, Open Google chrome browser on your phone, and try to open any website { you'll then see the dinosaur}

Tap on the dinosaur to start the game, the ground below the dinosaur will start moving.


All you have to do to play the game is to tap the screen to make the dinosaur jump over obstacles.
Scores will automatically increase relatively to the number of obstacles avoided.
