Good afternoon all,I just crossed over to this thread,am a first timer.missed my period on the 15th of this month,had a pregnancy test done and become positive earlier this week.haven't gone to the hospital yet,becos the cramps is making me just lay down.but bought folic acid and pregnant care today,pls mamas help me answer this,can I take the two meds at the same time?or use one and leave the other,though I will be going to the hospital first or second week of next month. Pls help

Hi e-sisters, I finally lost my 10 weeks baby and yesterday it was evacuated.

Hmmmm why do still birth happen?
It's easier to break it down like this
Mother factors (diabetes, obesity, age(above 35) high bp, lack of nutrition, infection etc)
Baby factors(cord round the neck or cord prolapse, lack of nutrition due to iugr, chromosomal abnormalities)
Placenta factors (don't know where to group it) but more like when the placenta detaches early from the uterine wall.
Hospital factors (majorly lack of monitoring)

Summary ; cord, infection ( kinda common), diabetes (baby is used to the high level of glucose imagine the abrupt cut in supply of that glucose he or she is used to), post date etc
Others are smokers or being around chronic smokers, alcohol.

There's something called economic class syndrome... One of the Reason why pregnant women are asked for fit to fly. It leads to pulmonary embolism which can lead to still birth.

Yes... Fetal kicks. Usually when she has passed due date, or are at risk for still birth, it's best she grabs her jotter and start with the fetal kick counts. Or by the use of sonicaid. that's about it in our country.


Yes u can know... But only very very sensitive women do. If she's being induced especially for someone long pass her due date... it means there shld b some form of fetal heart monitoring... Because the woman have close and very painful contractions she might not know.. So constant monitoring. The sonicaid will beep it's d heart rate is low or high.

(During contraction the baby is squeezed thereby cutting blood to the placenta. For a normal healthy baby he or she will cope well)

Now mrs A might have still birth cos she's obese, doesn't mean Mrs B will.

Other Drs can pls add or remove.

pls o, do u want to kill d baby? don't try it a beg. sleep with ur side and use pillow to support ur back. then put pillow in between ur legs. I was like u but I thought about d safety of d baby first. God bless u as u endure for DAT baby to b comfortable.

@ Fabmummy pls try to lie on ur sides, from 18 weeks or so, its not advisable to lie on ur back or tummy as u may be putting undue pressure on ur inferior vena cava d vessel day transports oxygen to d heart n ur baby. Pls try.

If you are still comfortable sleeping on your tummy then no harm. Time is coming very soon when you won't even consider it as an option. So enjoy while it lasts but Start practising sleeping by the sides.

hello wonderful mama's. Things no dey easy for me ooooo recently. pls pray for me bcs devil want to steal my joy.

pls make sabi mamas torchlight this my matter for me. when i was 8 weeks LMP a fetal pole was seen (the scan result showed I ws 6weeks gestational age ) my Dr asked me to repeat the scan in a week's time to check heart beat which I did yesterday and I got the bad news that the fetal pole cannot be seen again . meanwhile I have been spotting for few days now. ( not heavy, I sees blood when I wipe) He gave me drugs for D&C and said evacuation will follow later. I pocketed the drugs without drinking it.

Have u seen case before where fetal pole disappeared without serious bleeding.

pls help me out.

Double the trouble, fun and blessings. My twins have arrived! A girl and a boy by 11.29am and 11.30am yesterday,Thursday morning,weighing 2.6kg and 3kg respectively via c-section.
