neyyoh: I call them lazy low ambition loser's!
You can't fight your way out of poverty by smoking weed.
Weed actually demotivates, it trick's your mind to think all is ok when it's not but reality always catches up with fantasy.
A broke person adding extra expenses to their bills, slowly destroying their brain matter is a fool, the country wasn't the shit hole they are.
I wouldn't mind if they smoked like the real og armed robbers back then and kept it within but they spread their foolishness all over like a forrest fire initiating the naive through peer pressure.
Anyways nuff said. Many stoners are losers and they are also high functioning stoners. Don't judge until you have walked a mile in their shoes. Many of our leaders are smokers (might be cigs alone but we have a lot of burnt lips leaders). |

neyyoh: Essentially everyone is mad in the country with this analysis of putting churches, alcohol and drug's in the same category?
I digress, most substance abuse in Nigeria is recreational/ relaxation and most importantly for social events.
The damning part is that it's actually got very little to do with illness but trend following as I have seen with the ladies, smoking is seen as cool and makes you a bad bitch like cardi b lol.
You don't understand your people, they are headed for self imposed destruction.
I don't want to prolong this, so I'll skip the legality aspect relating to actual mental illness and the level of systems and costs that needs to be factored in first..
Any rational government will put an immediate end to this menace , it's that simple . Funny you use the word Mad? You need vegetables and exercise to be healthy. You need mediation/prayer and some people depend on weed/drugs,to just get out of the bed and survive in this shithole of a country. Everybody brain dey touch for Nigeria but it depends on the degree. Remember that Doctor Emmanuela or something (the Mountain of Fire medical doctor in US) that the Americans mocked as being crazy but in Nigeria I wouldn't be afraid of her treating me or my kids. I would prefer my doctor to be shouting "Holy Ghost Fire!" for 3 hours before performing surgery on me than my doctor secretly taking drugs. All those people doing it for popularity, it is just a phase and they can't be addicted (only pretend to be). Like all trend, it would pass and they jump on another trend (hopefully wedding, cars and so on). |

Okbaba: OP are you a millionaire? Even if he is a millionaire, he must have used both money and experience to reach where he is. For example, you can make millions from selling digital courses but it take years to be knowledgeable on that topic and also knowledgeable on how to market your digital product. The others (as everyone pointed out) needs start-up capital. |

neyyoh: Manufactured and packaged abroad as prescription medicine, re packaged in Nigeria with all sorts of dangerous items, expired and you see no danger.
Like I always say, the longer the grammar the lesser the brain material.
Between hope you seen how drugs have devastated communities, they started with marijuana then progressed to more harmful substances.
Haven't you seen the several videos of Nigerians acting crazy after drug use ?
The mysterious deaths?
Well you can flame a fire but best be ready to contain it goes berserk.. and I'm clearly sure Nigeria has no capacity for this. If there is a video of someone acting crazy on SOCIAL MEDIA, it is probably what I call 'American drugs' not what you would find on our streets. Also remember that last year they were videos of people dropping dead on SOCIAL MEDIA because of the phantom coronavirus. We all know now that those people might have dropped dead but it was not because of COVID-19. All am saying is 'drug abuse' is like those who chose religious extremism. It's not the drugs, there is an underlining problem that person is battling with. They actually prescribe some of those drugs to treat different things. The packaging and repackaging is due to it being illegal over here so NAFDAC can't screen it. Just the way their is physical health, there is mental health. Nigerians usually treat their mental health issues with Church/Mosque or Alcohol/Drugs. There are different degree of this thing like other forms of illness. |

kingthreat: You all should keep criticizing this move untill a loved one becomes an addict, you will see the big picture. Please keep quiet. Nigerian drugs are child's play. It is American drugs that hooks people. Aparts from rebellious children who think it's cool and eventually out grow it, all the so called drug addicts I have seen have something they are dealing with (might be rape or PTSD or mental health issues or something). It's called "drugs" and you have to be "sick" to want it. They were already damaged before they started. Even chain smokers of legal cigarettes, have something (I mean those ones that goes through 3+ packs a day). All the things that we call drugs in Nigeria are manufactured and packaged (apart from marijuana). That means in developed countries, they prescribe these drugs to regular people as "anti depressant". Don't be fooled, Boko Haram, Police, Clerics, Governors and thugs all take these drugs. Now the American once, the once without company names like cocaine, heroin, LSD, they are too expensive for Nigerian and they are the real danger. |

Terrorism is more dangerous. Now you claim drugs are more dangerous yet you have failed to deal with the so called less dangerous terrorism.
Allow adults chose to drug themselves and deal with the consequences. |

Ojady: First of all, I am sorry to hear about your predicament, it is the Nigerian reality, you either sink or swim - it is, what it is...
Now to the fun stuff, bro, you re a graduate, came out with a 2.1, wrote this whole piece well, paragraphed nicely, spelling accurate and brilliant switching interplay from pidgin to english. First, you can start a blog documenting your experiences on this job. Socially commenting on the decadence you see rom day to day. The more you write about it, the more lessons you can deduce and take away as part of a portfolio for your next job.
Two, bro you can front or get sb to do so, as a supplier of washing machines to your employer and arrange a buy now pay later for your current employer, or better yet a small soft loan from any of the microfinance banks, that way they can purchase a washing machine and make your work easier.
Lastly, as someone who has had your experience, book sense will only get you through University. Out here, its your networking, one's ability to sell one'self. If you got a 2.1 legitimately, I feel you shouldn't have a problem replicating it out here in the real world. All you lack is either, your attitude about the current role is not in sync, or you have not discovered your self, or your breakthrough is at 5.29 and you re at 5.27 and you re sweating the process...
Either way, based on your write up, your preparation (current state) is approaching its opportunity - soon, it will all make sense

Why did you wash it? I work in a hotel. If someone take a dump on the bedsheets, you refuse to wash it and demand they trace the guest to come and replace the sheets. Do that and the receptionist would be careful who they book.
They gave you a bedsheet full of shit and you wash it and don't expect it to repeat itself (probably the exact same guest)? Go and dump it for the receptionist. Okay what if it's not sheet and instead they are stealing TV, would they just let it go?
Menstrual blood and stain is part of your job. You can go to hardware store and buy those big red robber gloves. I would advise you to warn the receptionist that you wouldn't clean sheets with full load of shit in it. The management of that hotel are bastards.
On the other hand. You forgot to say how many hours your work in a day. If the only work you do is wash, I am sure you can finish work within 3 hours (assuming you wait for that 15 bedsheets to dry, if not it is less). You so called job should be seen as a side hustle. What the foooq are you doing with the remaining 19 hours of your day? |

It depends on the nature of the work. If it marketing or security, they might not be fit since they can't confront people.
If it's a job that requires team work, they might not fit too. If it's creative work, or factory work, they are great.
If it's in handling cash; I rather deal with an honest introvert than someone who would make friends with others and screw the company (human nature is lazy so social people would eventually shun work together and just gist. People are also naturally ungrateful so they would hate the job that feeds them and resign in mass causing a mess). On the other hand, a dishonest introvert would screw you harder than 10 people. |
