I can make do without the church/white wedding buh nt with the court and traditional wedding. If he insists on no court wedding then the relationship will have to be cut short.

I don't know how they statutorily wiggle there way into giving magistrate courts the jurisdiction of entertaining disputes in statutory marriage.

Although the jurisdiction of magistrate courts in Nigeria has been recently reviewed and given greater scope as courts of first instance, but it still doesn't carry the powers of divorce in statutory marriage.

And it's fücking expensive to initiate court proceedings, lawyer's charge extra.

It isn't worth it.

I still won't do it. It is still unnecessary. By the way, statutory marriage is cheap, a couple can procure one with less than a 100k.

But the issue is it's a whole different matter opting out of it, ---even if both couples want to .

Remember, it can only take a high court to grant divorce plea except in IMO state.

And , I think it gives women so much underserved and unmerrited rights in matrimony.

That's true, especially in embassies and certain work permit abroad, but then, couples can opt for it when faced with such necessities.

I wonder o,for me I prefer a good old tradional marriage with ALL the rites carried out,white wedding will be for formality sake;because my parents will insist.Court marriage is a bloody NO.I'm a very traditional person and I feel blacks are quick to accept the white culture.I'll have a white wedding but I still think the most important thing is keeping my marriage.Wonder why an african woman will be thinking about the possibility of divorce will signing marriage papers...uwa mmebi!

I honestly can't do court wedding with ANY lady and NOBODY can change my mind on that.

These set of ladies with court wedding do behave silly and I can't take such shiit. You expect me to marry a Lady and if she messed up , I kick her ass out and one mumu court will divide my property for such biitch? God4bid.

If you can't marry me cos I ain't doing court, another person will.

After all only lazy and bad minded ladies will insist on court wedding

To me, that's the way to go!!! Court marriages and white wedding are just what they truelly are; the rites of our cultural and spiritual subjugation to the West.


Besides court marriage aren't divorce-proof, white wedding is just a Cinderella show for the bride and her friends.
