RX480: Masamune made a joke about GOH being one long tournament arc(in the style of anime tournament arcs like Heaven's arena from HxH or the Chunin exams in Naruto) because all in all, that's all it boils down to. summoning the mc into another world is what the isekai genre is all about.
CoolUsername: A lot of people may mention Naruto and Bleach but in my opinion they are waaay to long to get into and my opinion on then has soured over time.
To me, Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is best anime for newbies. It's not too short or too long, has a bunch of anime tropes but not too tropey, nice action but isn't as action-oriented as a lot of popular stuff. In my opinion it is a very high quality anime but falls a little short of the elite shows. This means that when you're done you still have other good stuff to look forward to.
Moving forward, you may want to look at some recent hits. Check out Kimetsu no Yaiba, all the 12 year olds think it's the best thing ever (I'm just trolling, it's actually quite good but the hype train was ridiculous). Attack on Titan and Hunter x Hunter are considered some of the best of our time. Steins;Gate (NOT Steins;Gate 0) is my personal favourite.
I'm not a fan of Akame ga Kill but if you're looking for more edgy stuff that, check out the superior Code Geass, Tokyo Ghoul (season one), and Black Lagoon.
FMAB and HxH are one of the best shounen anime out there

I forgot to mention this - check out the 2 ovas (“hell’s kitchen/ stairway to heaven”). One adds a little to the story and the other one is fun to watch.
There’s also a short alternate version of the epilogue (“Another epilogue”) if you’re a completionist (max of 5 mins)
Still on OVAs, there’s a prologue episode for YLIA but it spoils the main series so see this one after you done

For the series * Guilty Crown is trash. * Angel Beats - Very nice plot but the story telling is kinda poor sha but the feels here make it 100% worth watching * Clannad - Another feels journey . If you want to enjoy this, binge watch this and don't stop watching matter how chessy the story seems. Thank me later (The magic happens in After Story) * Your lie in April - 100% dope. No long story * Tokyo Magnitude - Haven't seen this but I heard its supposed to be "disturbing"
