The bible is our guide as well as the discernment of the holy spirit. Information technology has advanced in the 21st century; education, banking, shopping, business meetings are being done via online mode as against the traditional platform of going to the class rooms, visiting the banking hall, going to "Alaba" market, attending meetings at the Head office in Marina. Hence online is just another platform for doing what we use the do solely in the real term in the 19th century to being successfully virtually done today. So if online dating is another platform for singles to meet, how does it align with the Bible? The book of Proverb said, he who findeth a wife, findeth a good thing and obtaineth favour in the sight of the lord. No doubt one need, God's guidance to find a wife, but folding ones arms expecting your God's ordained partner to fall from heaven is like assuming that you can be a medical doctor by praying to God without attending a medical school. It is work and pray not pray and pray, as God can only bless the work of your hand. In modern times, Christian singles meet and date through church, at social events, in the marketplace, through friends and relatives, and at work. Online dating sites provide a meeting place for single Christians who may be too busy or too introverted to meet people through traditional means. You can find free online dating sites, which means you do not have to spend money to meet other singles. Good luck to all singles and I pray you meet your true love soonest By FancyUPage |
.........No, it is not our culture, it not in line with our religious beliefs, it is not suitable for cultured minds.......These excuses are myth and the reason is because, if you can do banking transactions online, approve of online degrees, believe in online shopping and accepts online religious services then online dating cannot be awkward. It is just a platform for you to meet, just like schools, religious houses, workplaces are platforms. What if your true love is searching online and you are not? A wise man will have streams of options. |
fancyupage:OK I have heard your own side of the debate point absorbed, but I disagree as I strongly believe that being a Christian is not a guarantee of sweet marriage. |
baralatie:You are missing the point in my opinion, I believe marriage is God ordained, but not everyone does, how how does literarily believing or not believing that God is the author of marriage make your marriage sweet? IT IS A FACT THAT NON CHRISTIANS & ATHIESTS SOMETIMES HAVE THINGS WORKING BETTER FOR THEM THAN CHRISTIANS.....are my correct? |
baralatie:You are right those tips are based on the bible, but there are other books that have those tips as well......and people who has never read the bible knows about good marriage tips....what does that tell you? |
twosquare:Forget illusion, are you saying bad things do not happen to genuine christians? Not all genuine christians have good marriage, that is a FACT. |
baralatie:I did not read any of the bible verses you quoted, all I am saying is, you can have good marriage without being a Christian and being a Christian is not a guarantee of Good marriage |
baralatie:If you cannot apply my example of cinema to everyday issues then I give up..........Even without money for cinema, good couples should be close friends, play together even if it is LUDO etc......Having a romantic life does not have to be expensive but it must be full of FUN you both enjoy. |
twosquare:I CONCUR with you......however, I intentional said wealth in the physical..... |
baralatie:INTOLERANCE |
baralatie:It takes a christian that has not been brainwashed to reason differently.....God is good and I will not be gullible to think that prayers without work can give me answers. Do you need the bible to tell you to take your wife to cinema? To go on holidays? To celebrate yourself etc To think that good marriage cannot happen without being a christian is laughable and can only be shared by fanatic christian. |
@twosquare, no need for epistle, learn to make impact with shortest sentence. Yes God is the author of romance but it does not mean that everyone that has the fear of God will experience romance. God is the author of wealth in the physical, does it automatically translates that all Christians will be wealthy? I repeat being a pastor does not guarantee happy marriage. |
@Baralatie Why do we Christians think it has to be our way or the highway? The same mentality of the terrorists I guess...... Christianity is a belief, the best way to practice it, is to respect other people's faith and believe. only terrorists thinks only his or her way is the only way and others have missed the road. Pastors have extramarital affairs while unbelievers show commitment to marriages, what does that infer......being godly is beyond being a pastor or imam. |
@twosquare your comments is conflicting, the below is a lie from the pit of hell....... The more spiritual you are, the more romantic you become because a spiritual person is also someone who have/has the fear of God and such a one understands earthly vocation better and can handle them better. That said Sweet marriage is sweet marriage by the definition of the participants. If two couples are happy and believe they enjoy good romantic and sexual life then who are you or myself to say they are not experiencing good marriage. Why do we Christians think it has to be our way or the highway? The same mentality of the terrorists I guess...... |
@OREMUSSANCTUS as if Pastors do not have extra marital affairs, including sleeping with their secretaries and PAs......theory is different from reality. |
@baralatie, your assertion is one sided, no need directing me to the bible, I have read it over and over. I am a Christian, so no need to lecture me on that....your assertion is that only christians experience good things in life is laughable hahahahaha, No you are wrong. You do not need to be a Christian to have good heart, I have seen that in Europe and America. I have seen non religious Britons give to the community than religious Nigerians ever do. Being Godly is good, but you do not have to be a Christian to be GOOD. |
@Baralatie, you need to start thinking outside the box and stop thinking that other views to yours are wrong. I have seen atheists with good home and I have seen pastors with dysfunctional home. That is a fact, hence being a born again Christian does not guarantee sweet marriage. |
@Baralatie to follow your line of argument is to assume that if you do not fear God, you will never have a good home.......that is not true. My point is simple, having a fear of God is good but it is not a guarantee of a good home. I have met people that does not believe in God but have sweet marriages and I have met spirit filled pastors with dysfunctional homes. You do not need to believe in God to be romantic and fear of God does not make one romantic. My summary is that as religious people, we should think outside the box, learn to improve other parts of our life, take your partners out for romantic dinners, watch movies, go on romantic holidays etc...... |
@ejikemi, reading and understanding the bible does not mean you have or will have the fear of God. |
Happy home is a virtue craved for by many if not all, but I am of the opinion that being a genuine pastor or imam is not a guarantee for a happy home. Why then do people say, the only quality I want in my partner is the fear of God? Fear of God is the beginning of wisdom but it does not in any way make a man or woman very romantic and sensual. In addition to your fear of God, please add other good qualities that makes your home a sweet home to it. |
Thank you mumumugu, and I agree Google is a blessing |
@tonytony208, you can pass your feedback without the insult, civility is a virtue. |
My point is simple, people should follow their hearts in deciding the future for country. |
I have read several comments on online fora which clearly shows a distinct split of support for General Buhari and Dr Jonathan among Nigerians. I must say one thing was clear, majority of members on both sides of the argument wants Nigeria to move forward, hence they have a different opinion on who their conscience picked. But these are my take for both parties; Most of the projects credited to Dr Jonathan are better read on paper or Google it, than feeling their impacts on an average Nigerian. When Alhaji Lateef Jakande was the governor of Lagos State, No one needs Google to feel the impact of his governance, it can be easily felt by an average Lagosian. One thing can be remebered of Awolowo forever; Free education, we do not need Google to tell us that. Without Google for General Buhari as the former head of state, people will always remember him as the no nonsense man that instilled discipline on Nigerians by the power of "force". His 20 months in office stands in comparison to many years in such office by any other person. We will remember him for jailing Fela because Fela disobeyed the military decree on forex. He has little mercy for criminals, he is fixed on dealing with it. Buhari should also be asked why he jailed the likes of Pa Ajasin, Ekwueme, Ambrose Ali etc... Without Google Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha is still remembered for his money laundering and his "alleged modelling" in the sense that it was "alleged" that he disguised as a woman to travel out of UK while he was on bail as a suspected criminal. Without Google for Dr Jonathan, he will be remembered for privatising PHCN without a national energy strategy, he will be remebered as a man that allowed Boko Haram to fester for over 5 years but got tough on them 6 weeks to his reelection bid. We will remember Dr Jona for setting up a national conference which the recommendations are subject to the approval or disapproval of the states and federal assemblies. We will remember how our Naira went on a downhill and that of other oil producing countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UAE remain stable. We will remember Dr Jona not believing in jailing criminals as it is a waste of time. Please without Google what can we remember Dr Jonathan's governorship in Bayelsa for? After 5 years of Dr Jonathan taxpayers are still funding companies that bought our national treasure (PHCN). It can be said that, Dr Jona sold PHCN to companies that ran out of funding in less than 1 year of buying PHCN. Dr Jona is happy to spend 1B naira of taxpayers money on feeding in Aso Rock while the taxpayers die of hunger, afterall prosperity for our dear president is measured by the number of private jets oiwn by less than 100 Nigerians when the population of the country is over 160million. General Buhari has truncated democracy in the past which put the question on his credibility, why do you want to benefit from what you truncated? The simple answers to that in my opinion is Dr Jona's attitude at treating Nigerians without sensitivity is concerning to Nigerians. Also the level of corruption in Nigeria today is the reason why Nigerians will turn to General Buhari as their saviour. The general perception which the opposition even acknowledged is that general Buhari is not a corrupt Nigerian. But being a discipline man does not make one a perfect man, because only God is perfect. We have two devils, you pick the lesser devil. |
. On a lighter mood now, I have seen all you have written and we're saying almost the same thing but you still don't get it because I believe you are glued to this stereotypical definition of what the "Fear of God is" which am saying it is beyond that. I repeat you can't have it and not become it. Either romance o, wealth o etc. What you call wealth is not what he calls wealth because a spiritual man is not defined in that sphere. He has moved into a realm where "wealth" is useless and he is now operating by God's kind of wealth. Imagine, wealth that moth and rust attacks and render useless. They have wealth but you can see it with your naked eyes, because the world wants "result"
