Travel / Re: Does Purchase Of A Property In US Guarantee Automatic Visa by farastrongman: 2:48pm On Dec 14, 2018
This is absolutely true. There are various ways to be legal (GreenCard) in the US- family, job, Investment. Investment could either be setting up a business or owning a property valued at $500k but not Mortgage. I know a few people who did that...
optimusprime2:

Yes! That Senior Colleague of yours was Right, but it depends on the State in the US and how much the property is Valued at.
You see, different States in the US have their own peculiar laws that pertain to Aliens/Foreigners, for example if a Foreigner Bought a House at Beverly Hills CA, Valued at 500,000$ that Foreigner is to be issued residency by the State and if the Foreigner has an immediate Family, they will be issued Greencards as well. This same law is applicable in Florida and Arizona.
It might also interest you to know that in some states like Utah, if a Foreigner invests over 500,000$ in an American Business that provides more than 10jobs to American citizens, that Foreigner is also given Residency too...
the only downside... 500,000$ is'nt Childs play- America aint Stupid, if a foreigner is rich and can contribute money to thier Economy, of course they'll give him a greencard, bottom Line America welcomes Rich folks-lol.

You dont necessary have to pay before leaving Nigeria, but if you do it will fast track making the green card ready. I never knew about the payment until a month i arrived in the US. I received a letter saying i have outstanding payment, I paid and got the card sent to me following week.

pretty16:

Imagine me going with 3 of my boys. The 1st will be 6 tomorrow, 2nd is almost 3 and my 3rd is an infant. I feel you, the money no be here. Plus I hear there's a $220 fee for green card payment. I hear it has to be paid before leaving Nigeria.

Good day dear VO,

I'm asking on behalf of my cousin who is a little worried.

He was granted a B1/B2 over a year ago but could not meet his scheduled plan to travel due to work exigencies and since haven't trvalled. The visa is due to expire in Decemeber 2017 but the next available slot for him to go on vacation is next year.

If he applied after the expiration, would it not be an issue for not using the previous visa?

Thank you in anticipation of your response.

Good day VO,

I was recently issued my immigrant visa and about to leave for the U.S.

Kindly clarify, do I need to carry along with me any other document for the border post e.g Police report? Or I should just go with the package given to me with my intl passport.

Thank you.

Dear VO,

Original documents from my petitioner is requested at the interview according to the package sent to me.

He said all originals including my birthday certificate were submitted to USCIS and same has been forwarded to the Consulate in Nigeria, also that it will be given to me at the interview.

Please my question is, is the above stated possible?

Thank you.

VisaOfficer:

Once NVC notifies the Consulate, it can take several weeks to several months. This is partly because we must first receive the physical file from NVC from the United States. You will be contacted when ready.

Regards,
VO

Thank so much once again for the prompt reply.
The attorney said NVC has sent the case to Nigeria this February. I just want to know the waiting time for the embassy to schedule for interview.

Remain blessed.

Salutations farastrongman. The existence of a pending IV petition is not necessarily a preclusion to qualification for a non-immigrant visa. However, it is likely to be brought up at the interview, should you apply. We do not discuss chances on this forum.

Thank you so much AbujaNIV,

I got my visiting visa yesterday.

Appreciate your effort.

Dear AbujaNiv,

Thanks for your advice on the forum.

Please I like to find out my eligibility for B1/B2 visa.

I have an immigrant petition by my father who is a US citizen. The petition has been approved since 2007, however now, I'm an adult, I work in the bank and I have traveled to different countries recently UK, Ireland, Germany etc. I want to visit US just on vacation. All my friends and colleagues at work have been to US but I hv been denied twice about 4 years ago because of the petition.

I want to apply now just to visit, do I stand a chance please?

Note I'm still single.

Good day,

I got a mail for my representative to send my accademic records, residential addresses since age 16, some documents from my father who is an American citizen plus my birth certificate and those of my children.

Does this mean I would be scheduled for interview soon?

Good day VO,
Please I need your advice on this I have applied for no immigrants visa twice and I was denied simply because at some point in my life when I was a boy my father applied for immigrant visa for me and this hasn't been concluded.

However I am an adult now, with a good job and good earning. I have been to several countries in Europe and back without hindrances. I'm not legally married though but I have 2 children and we are doing great but it's my desire to visit friends and family in the U.S. The are been so many marriages, graduations etc that I am suppose to attend but I can't because the U.S. embassy feels I would run away.
I am a senior at my work.
I own properties across lagos.
My children has been to the U.S. even their mother went and came back from a wedding ceremony few months ago.
What I do not understand is the reason the embassy will continue to tell me that I have a petition and I can't travel even when I'm the person sponsoring all of this.

Please advice, thank so much.

Travel / Re: I Am A U.S. Consular Officer: Ask Me Your Visa Questions. by farastrongman: 1:02pm On Oct 27, 2013
VisaOfficer:

Greetings! You should let NVC know that your father is now an American citizen. If he were still an LPR, your case wouldn't be current yet; only F2B cases with priority dates before March 1, 2006, are current. That will speed up your processing by around seven months. But for the F1 visa category (unmarried children of U.S. citizens), cases with priority dates before Oct. 1, 2006, are now current. So, if all continues as usual, you have maybe five or six months until your case is ready to be scheduled for an interview!

It is more difficult (but not impossible) to convince a visa officer that you plan to return to Nigeria if you have an immigrant petition pending. We know that people have valid reasons to want to travel temporarily, so it's not impossible; but, yes, it's a bit harder. You really have to be able to make a good case. In your case, based solely on what you've written here, I think you have a pretty good shot; you have good prior travel and strong ties to Nigeria. Yes, you're about to immigrate, but if you can convince the officer that you're not ready to immigrate yet and just want to visit, you should be all right. Then again, it does look like in just a few months your immigrant petition will be current... cheesy

Does my illegal marriage and children effect my eligibility?
Travel / Re: I Am A U.S. Consular Officer: Ask Me Your Visa Questions. by farastrongman: 3:36pm On Oct 19, 2013
Hi Visa officer, I need your assistance on these: my father file a petition for us when we were much younger under immigrant petition for relative, fiance or orphan. And we have gotten approval notice Jan 2008 but up to this day we have not heard anything from the embassy. Please see details:
Notice type- approval notice, section : unmarried child21/older of permanent resident
Receipt date- March 6,2007
Priority date- March 5, 2007.
Note: my father became a citizen this year. What can be done and why the delay?

Secondly, every attempt to visit America on vacation has been refuse because I have a petition that means nothing to me again as an adult.
I have visited UK several times, Germany, Ireland, Swiss, Austria. South Africa and a few more countries as a tourist. I have a good job, wife but not legally married and 2 children. How do I convince the VO that I don't intend to stay back in America because I have a fantastic job in Nigeria or is it true it's impossible to visit if there's a petition.?
