tunapawizzy:
Good day people...my application was denied today at Abuja embassy...I plan to reapply as my school is resuming on 16th of august...I was interviewed by d young white lady at window 9; here's my transcript, kindly help assess;
Me: good morning ma
Vo: she signalled and says pass me ur document ( den I passed passport and I20)
Vo: why did u choose prairie view?
Me: I chose pv because the cis curriculum at pv integrates data science, electronic commerce and information security into d study plan. This will give me a well rounded exposure to advance my career as a data analyst when I return after my study. ( I wanted to keep talking but she cut me short.....
Vo: who is sponsoring u
Me: my elder sister...she owns an event management and catering services company
Vo: have u travelled before
Me: No
All through she was typing and m not sure she looked at me for more dan 2 secs

Vo: what did u study for undergraduate
Me: I studied physics
Vo: and u r going to study what?
Me : computer Information systems
Then she typed for like 30-40 seconds after which she passed my passport, I20 and a white paper dt states u r not eligible under section 214(b)
I was fairly composed during d interview but I feel I was not given enough chance to express my professional ties as I am employed
Please where did I go wrong...and what can I correct to improve my chances. How soon can I get a new date in lagos....my school resumes August 16

....
I may not have the best advise for you as I have been denied three times now. But I feel your reason for why you choose the school should be well repackaged; don't give generic answers pls; you were given a great opportunity to express yourself but your valuable points should have come in your first two statement; my last interview was not even like this, just 2 questions the black lady denied me.she did not ask who is sponsoring; nothing like why this school; nothing like all those questions u will expect for F1; was very harsh... So please put valid point first b4 others things... all the best

Chidinho10:
1. I'm not too comfortable with your school. You have to change your school to one that has some degree of reputation.

2. Truth is, 95% of people who say "my school does not require a test" are those that were too scared to write the GRE and were searching for shortcuts via schools that do not require the GRE. I don't know if you fall in that category but you obviously know that writing a standardized test would have helped your case. If you knew, why did you ignore the tests? Sometimes we create problems for ourselves by playing safe at all times.

3. I can infer via your transcript that you applied to just 1 (or 2 schools). In your first interview, you said you applied to Devry and Manitoba. In your second interview, you said you applied to Devry and University of Illinois (huh). University of Illinois at where? Urbana Champaign or Chicago? A smart VO can smell lies from those responses and I want to caution you about saying inconsistent stuffs in your interviews. The more inconsistent you sound, the more difficult it becomes.

4. Your "why this school" question seems generic. Try and give specifics. What and what about your school curriculum interests you? Give some names, sound specific!

Goodluck!
Thank you for this; I really appreciate

Visa was denied twice; kindly help me dear NLanders;
My first interview was very dry and even I was not impressed maybe because I got timid seeing 2 people denied before me. (Abuja)

VO: Good Morning
Me: Morning
VO: So you are going to Maharishi University of Management
Me: Yes I am
VO: How many Schools did you apply to
Me: 3
VO: Mention Them
Me: Devry University, University of Manitoba
VO: Why did you choose this school
Me: Because they are affordable and their course fit perfectly well (He cuts in)
VO: Who is Sponsoring you
My Father
VO: What does he do
Me: He is a welder, He is into building of Iron gates, doors and bulglary
VO: Have you ever travelled before
Me: No
VO: Are you married
Me: No

My second Interview was more Robust.
It was a raining day in Lagos that day, even the VOs came in late.

VO: Good morning
Me: morning
VO: Can you pass your I-20
Me: passed it to him
VO: so you are going to study masters in computer science
Me: yes
VO: tell me about the software's applications you have built
Me: As a software developer in financial institution; I have worked on ATM and POS dispute management application, which helps POS merchants log chargeback and get resolution on transactions failures; (the VO wasn't even looking up at all );
I also worked on Coperate expense system management, this software allows Coperate organisation manage their expenses thereby putting in place the necessary approval before fund are disbursed. In this way company expenditure can be monitored.

VO: How many did you apply to
Me: 3
VO: mention them
Me: Devry University and University of Illinois
VO: so why did you choose this school
Me: having worked for some years as a practical software developer the school course content fit perfectly well into my current experience and my future career goal; I am aiming at rising from being a mere software developer to being a software architect which will make me a valuable asset when I return back to my home country.
VO: are you married?
Me: No
VO: Can I have your account statement
Me: pass it to him
VO: {Checking and was looking through it page by page; he concentrated on it for some time; dropped it and started typing on his system; he stopped again and now started looking @ the statement flow one by one} ...stopped for a while; (my opening balance was 18000 and closing balance 1.6million; I have a financial aid assistance that requires me to only have 1.2million; it's a 6months account statement)
VO: what is the course's duration
Me: 32months
VO: am sorry; visa was denied. NO HOME tied

Please help me guys... What am I doing wrong...
I am not required to write any standardised test as the school has conducted some online test and interviews; this is also stated in my I-20 form. That I don't require any standardised test

Hello everyone; top of the day to the house, i am a newbie, and i will require some help from people around here.

I stay in lagos and wants to take my F-1 Student Visa Interview in Abuja because my schools resumption is very close; Abuja still has a space on 26 of March 2018; which will give me enough time to do proper handing over at my office; and as well prepare. I have gotten some discouraging words regarding Abuja center. Pls is Abuja really a no go area? if yes, how can i transfer my schedule to Lagos, and what is the side effect of emergency schedule if eventually i am doing lagos.

Thank you
