OP.

All these you refer to as projects are absolutely NOTHING  . . . .Something you can code within a weekend undecided
If you go through the posts, you would realise that I stated clearly that the projects are for people trying to improve their OOP skills. IF you think you can code it in a weekend then good for you. But can you code it the right way??
ProgrammingRe: Programming Projects (individual) by Fayimora(op): 12:09pm On Feb 23, 2012
Please dont post your emails here. You would just get spammed! The projects are free. Take them and work on any yo think you can work on. If you need help then send me you code and I might just be free enough to help. THAT IS THE PLAN! PLease dont send me code if its VB or anything microsoft. NOt a fan of windows-centric stuff. You can however send me code in Java, Ruby, C/C++, Perl, Objective-C or PHP.

Goodluck.

ProgrammingRe: Creating Multiple Columns In The Db by Fayimora(m): 8:10pm On Feb 16, 2012
What DBMS you using? You can just create all the columns alongside the table at once but then you gonna type quite a lot of DDL and DML code.

I think I would advise pastie instead of pastebin. Just a suggestion. I think code on pastie is easier to read than pastebin

handsomeness:
Am new to programming, i just need to know the easiest language i can learn 1st for a new bie, Nairaland gurus which language do u recommend for a starter like me?
WHY?? There is no easy language. WHY do you want to program? What do you want to achieve from it? What do you want to develop? What platform do you want to develop for? Have you asked yourself these questions?

@delomos c'mmon man, use a third party instead of trying to setup your own server. A VPS would do except if you are interested in system admin, then goodluck.

@DonSegmond I don't do biz, not interested in the money. Am a student and I work with . . . . . . wink

ProgrammingRe: Any Software Product From "nairaland Programmers"? by Fayimora(m): 7:39pm On Feb 14, 2012
Hahaha i guess that is when you ask for help. PHP deployment isin't easy aswel. Am not talking about websites now, am talking about applications.  Deploying is NEVER straight forward. I did some maintenance(mainly functional testing) job for a company few months ago. Trust me when I saw they way they deployed, lol I realised that all I have been doing in PHP was SMALL.

Going back to rails, I use Capistrano-> https://github.com/capistrano/capistrano . Its quite easy to use so I guess you shouldn't have problems with it. I had a short conversation with Ryan Bates and he agreed to cover deployment very soon in a few episodes.

delomos:
considering I've opening a topic to find contributors on my project and no one has signed up,
I would disagree with this. Because no-one signed up for the project doesn't mean all programmers here are all talk. Yeah,  I know a few just come here to talk but it has nothing to do with your project. DHML is a PHP champion, that I know but he obviously isin't interested and thats why he didn't sign up. I personally HATE PHP(doesn't mean I can't comfortable write it), I use Ruby on Rails(fan of neat code). However, I only watched your project because I wouldn't mind testing your product as an end-user or issue feature requests.wink

I can tell you something for sure tho, open source doesn't work that way. You just have to assume you are going to be alone on it but when you finally roll out something that interest developers, you would get tired of contributors.

You dont just get a tutorial on how to create a chat room application. THere are issues you have to resolve before any implementation. What platform are you developing for? Features to be included any many more

You na correct man! grin
See rapid response to problem and solution found!

One man said Obama had to be 50% white to win the election and that no 100% percent black man would have won that election, especially the debate, where McCain was asking Obama questions that would have annoyed a regular black man. He said the 50% black man in Obama  wanted to tell McCain to "Shut the Hell Up!" but that was when the 50% white man in him told the 50% black man, "Go back! We are near the finish line, don't mess it up now!"

So that place you are living has given you a bit of 30% white man with which you run this programming board and every one can see the result! I believe it is that other 100 + 10% black man running this board that knows why the thread was locked! angry I did not mention names of anybody o, before they re-re-reban me! lipsrsealed

Thanks man!
HAhah funny you!

@delmos and @ekt I think ya'll should read this => http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1113611/what-does-ruby-have-that-python-doesnt-and-vice-versa DO you want to know why google uses python?

@delomos I doubt if Ruby is faster. . . Matz himself said Ruby supports convention over performance.

@OP I think its not about what language u have to learn or how many languages you want to learn. You most definitely have a dream/goal or some point u want to get to. Thats what brought you into this line of expertise in the first place. So was it android development? If yes then you should be learning Java and not Python. Is it iPhone/iPad development? Then you should be spending more time on Objective-C. Right now I think its pointless trying to learn a gazillion languages when you aren't even good at the one you are supposed to be good at. As time goes on, you would know if you need to learn some other language or not. Have that in mind.

@*dhtml,  CMS installershuh? lmaooooo  cheesy man ur crazzzzyy

Coffee-script is AWESOME. However, if you dont write Ruby code or maybe python, you wouldn't see its use. I use CoffeeScript in my web development an its great. Some other things you should try out are HAML and SASS.
