Neoteny: Governors and their deputies work for government too... Heck, they're the government. So why is there a hue and a cry over their pensions? You keep running around. |
Sports › Re: Odegbami: Samson Siasia Does Not Deserve To Be Abandoned NOW! by Fayrouzz(m): 11:44am On Dec 24, 2019 |
Neoteny: Athletes shouldn't be pensioned. Or should we start pensioning musicians and actors too?
Soldiers, cops, firefighters, traffic wardens, prison wardens, doctors, nurses, first responders, EMTs, teachers, workers, should be pensioned.
An athlete who earned millions in pay and endorsement in their careers should invest for their own pensions. This getting out of line. Musicians and actors don't work for the government but athletes do. All the sectors you mentioned are tied to the government, so, by the government yardstick, they should. Footballers and other athletes are also tied to the government. They should earn pensions too. |

Neoteny: C'mon dude.
He wasn't some brilliant lad in his heydays.
5m for what?
He's earning that much yet he keeps coming up with new cons to scam enterprising youths?
Or playing local estate politics? Okay. I don't think it's about your brilliance per say, it should be about you being on the FA payroll. Playing for the country at some point. You don't have to be the very best to be entitled to a pension. |

Neoteny: "Plenty" is a stretch, though i don't doubt that some do.
But we're in no condition to start giving pensions to people who volunteered for a career that was enriching and rewarding and largely a pastime, when workers and military people are not so provided for. Right. I only quoted you because you said countries don't pay their athletes pensions. Not so long ago, John Fashunu said he still gets #5m monthly as pension from the English FA for playing for them. |

Neoteny: The country owes him nothing if he decides to dabble in shady businesses. He bears his cross alone.
It's his fault if he gave people an email address he doesn't use.
I wonder why sportspersons are deemed heroes to be cared and pampered for during the period of their decline, when they were paid handsomely in their prime and, instead of good investments, they squander it all on cars and drink and food and sex.
No other country feels an obligation to give pensions to expired athletes, except in Nigeria where everyone with a pen thinks it's the right thing to do.
So why don't we make the same argument for gifted students who represent the country in contests? Plenty countries pay their athletes pensions. |

meobizy: The title does not correlate to the write-up. I wanted to see how his image fits in with the Nigerian youth. All I saw was a long winded description of the guy and his career. Nigerian writers are losing it.
Honestly he doesn’t represent the educated Nigerian youth. He instead personifies the illiterate and downtrodden. Those have no hope for tomorrow and focus on living today to the fullest, hence heavily consuming marijuana during times they could spend thinking up a business idea. Sadly, the uneducated are more. Hence, the large chunk he used. |

Timileyin1234: If a coach put mane in a striking role out of winger won’t he perform better than to take this dead Cavani Nah. If Mane played as striker, he wouldn't get up to 10 goals in season. Edison Cavani is a proper center forward. He has every feature for a proper 9. |

The way most of you guys compares player ehnn
Yes halland is good and will be a great player, but i am sure this is his first season you are knowing him but you are already comparing him with the greats in the game
Smh But you, you wrote off all his champions league efforts by saying he plays in the farmers league. Isn't that much worse? You don't have to compare him with anyone, but he's on the right path just like every other great you know. |

I am particular about his parents giving their blessings. I have told him. We have been telling ourselves as friends the truth no matter the situation.
Going ahead without parents consent and blessings is wrong Its not every time that our parents are right. It's not every time that doing without their consent and blessings is wrong. Why are the parents not in support? Why does he want the girl that badly? Are you his friend or a friend to the parents? |
