And Enyimba is not consistent this season eh? How consistent do you have to be considering the fact that we've on top for so long. Lost some points. . .was second briefly then back again. |
Always try to check if such a thread already exists. Continue here. . . https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-405074.0.html |

Wonder Twins Head For High School Aged Nine http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100301/tuk-wonder-twins-head-for-high-school-ag-45dbed5.html http://hiphopwired.com/2010/03/04/9-year-old-british-twins-become-youngest-high-school-students-in-history-video/ https://i45.tinypic.com/e3wcn.jpg Two nine-year-olds known as the Wonder Twins for their record-beating exam results are set to become the youngest pupils admitted to a British secondary school. Skip related content Paula and Peter Imafidon, from Waltham Forest, London, amazed parents and teachers when they passed an A-level maths exam at the age of seven. The twins have been waiting to find out which secondary school they will attend, along with thousands of other youngsters - who are two years older - across the country. Peter and Paula, who attend a state primary in London, were helped by their three older brothers and sisters, each of whom were also child prodigies. Their father Chris said he was thrilled by his childen's achievements at school. He denied any particular genius in the family, crediting their success to the Excellence in Education programme for inner city children from disadvantaged backgrounds. "Every child is a genius," he said. "Once you identify the talent of a child and put them in the environment that will nurture that talent then the sky is the limit. "Look at Tiger Woods, or the Williams sisters - they were nurtured. "You can never rule anything out with them, the competition between the two of them makes them excel in anything they do. "They are forever competing and fighting, even if it's just for the remote control or the computer." Paula hopes to become a maths teacher, while Peter hopes to become Prime Minister one day. ------------- The two highlighted parts carry powerful messages IMO. |

Nigeria will have to brace up for a new team for the World Cup afterall, a new coach, Lars Lagerback, said he believes that several of the country’s top players have been shut out from the team. The swede also made it clear that getting Nigeria to the last four in South Africa when the World Cup kicks off is not part of his mandate. “There are some good Nigerian players who are not playing for the national team at the moment, whom I strongly believe should be playing for the Super Eagles,” declared Lagerback, who will address a Press conference in Abuja on Wednesday. “I strongly believe that the best players of every country should be in the national team. I have been in touch with Nigerian players, both young and old, and I am quite familiar with their performances week in, week out. “I, therefore, plan to select the best for Nigeria because the best should be playing for the national team.” Lagerback continued: “The players, just like in any team, have to accept the new challenge. They need to know that things may be done in an unfamiliar way.” Besides his tactical shortcomings, Eagles’ former coach, Shuaibu Amodu, was often criticised for his team selection, picking injured or off-form players to the dismay of many. http://www.nigerianewspapersonline.net/nigerias-best-players-not-in-eagles-lagerback ----- Foreign or home based players? |

LAGERBACK TO BE UNVEILED WEDNESDAY Lars Lagerback is expected to be officially unveiled at a media conference on Wednesday, just before the friendly international against Democratic Republic of Congo in Abuja. The Swede will remain in Abuja to complete negotiations on the final details of his contract and is expected to sign the deal early next week before his midweek unveiling. The NFF have proposed three local assistants for him in Austin Eguavoen, Daniel Amokachi and Alloy Agu. Lagerback has, however, proposed to bring in three of his own backroom staff – one assistant coach, one physical trainer and one scout. Meanwhile, a top official of the NFF has told KickOffNigeria.com that Lagerback was only offered an initial five-month contract until August because his wages will be paid by the Presidential Task Force, which will cease to exist after that time. “The PTF will be responsible for the wages of the new coach, and their job will end in August after the World Cup. From that point on, it is the NFF that will take up the responsibility for paying the coach and it will be up to us to decide whether we want to keep him or not, depending on our performance at the World Cup.” NFF Executive Committee member Taiwo Ogunjobi added that if the Glass House were suitably impressed by Lagerback, he would be offered a minimum two-year deal. “We hope that he will do very well. If he does, we will not give him anything less than a two-year contract,” Ogunjobi told KickOffNigeria.com. The PTF was set up by Nigeria President Umaru Musa Yaradua to help secure World Cup qualification and prepare the team for the tournament and their brief will end after the World Cup. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=14105 --- +1 to Double L! |
FALCONETS QUALIFY FOR GERMANY Nigeria’s Under-20 women’s team, Falconets easily snatched a place at this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup finals in Germany by lashing their South African counterparts 7-0 in Abuja on Sunday. The result means the Nigerians qualify 12-3 on aggregate after a 5-3 win in the first leg a fortnight ago. The game began at a furious pace under the afternoon sun with Ebere Orji scoring right from the kick–off, and then doubling the advantage few minutes later. This meant the Falconets were already looking forward to the finals in Germany so early in the game, having swept past the South Africans 5-3 at home in Pretoria two weeks ago. Glory Iroka scored two goals either side of a strike by defender Gloria Ofoegbu, and in the second half, Ugochi Oparanozie scored before substitute Uchechi Sunday added another from the penalty spot. In the four World Cup qualifying games against Zimbabwe and South Africa, the Falconets scored total of 22 goals, with Uchechi scoring six while Ebere Orji netted five times. The Falconets will now be one of the participating teams at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup finals in Germany, taking place 13th July – 1 August. New Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles, Lars Lagerback was among the crowd that watched the Falconets triumph at the National Stadium, Abuja. http://www.kickoff.com/static/news/article.php?id=14113 |
