Drogba: "I don’t recognise my club. It’s no longer the same club. There is a new owner and a new vision. Of course, we try to compare it with what happened during the Abramovich era where a lot of players were brought in, but the decisions were very intelligent."
: "Bringing in players like Cech, Shevchenko, Crespo, Essien, Drogba, Malouda. It was done to win titles. They are players with a certain experience. The strategy is now different; we bet on young players. But a dressing room of over 30 players is difficult for a manager."

It is not luck to win the Champions League. It is real hard work.

Hope Boli enjoys watching it on TV next season.

Imagine in April barely a month to the end of the most grueling football season ever seen a coach is saying players are not fit?

After 8months of football plus world cup between

Assuming they weren't fit in 1month pre season so 10 months of football is not enough?

Some of them went to the world cup and did well for their country, they played multiple internationals yet we are to believe they are not fit in April when other coaches are complaining of player fatigue

There is no excuse a clueless coach will not come up with sha
Na the thing wey I no understand be that. Like fitness should be on the list of issues. The players just look lost and have no idea what to do.

Why Boli waited this long is anyone's guess.

Quite insightful, tuchel came and was able to set up the team in a way which hide their flaws and the team played well. Everyone thought getting a striker in the summer would have solved our goal scoring problem but it rather created other problems. Lukaku's profile didn't just fit into the system( couldn't press) and this is where I think Tuchel's problems at Chelsea started. He was a good tactician( never wanted him sacked and will still take him back in an heartbeat) but most of his transfer decisions were poor.

Boehly cannot also be exempted in how we found ourselves in this terrible situation, if he knew he was going to revamp the teams scouting and transfer network, why sack the manager and then replace him with a total fraud?
Boli. Boli and Boli again. Plus a little of the British obviously. haha.

The man single handedly destroyed the season for reasons best known to him.

But season ain't over yet. We will find out very soon.

to this day, NOTHING will make me watch cinema dubs. it does not matter how far they say the quality has come

back in school, one weekend my guys crashed in my place. we watched the lost world jurassic park. a cinema dub. we all agreed the movie was shit and a complete waste of time. then a year later one uncle in yankee sent me a clear copy. i actually got one of my guys to come around and rewatch the movie. the guy was like - what - that shit movie. at the end of the movie he looked at me. "comp video club is fuuucked! "

and that was the last time i ever watched a cinema dub
Nothing will make me watch cinema dub now. Nothing. No matter how good the movie is.

Or of extra low quality cinema dubs

And of course the jackpot of a mislabelled tape with alternative content. Or improperly dubbed over tape with same.
omo, you nailed it on all fronts. hahahaha

and they did us all a soild

before audio downloads, if you were a regular bros, your only option for music was tapes from DJs, tapes dubbed from radio station, or tapes dubbed from connecting your tape deck to the video audio output.

back then i had a massive tape collection - but since i was buying basic tapes sony [who dash me high end maxell] as you dey play quality dey drop over time.

when i started working in lagos proper - i found that you could buy CDs direct from alaba for n100. so every other weekend i would go to alaba to buy cds for my collection. then one day i realized i had most of my music in mp3s, most of teh devoces at home supported usb purts and i had no use for dvd or cd players. and i got a ghana must go and gave them all out.
And for those wey no get proper walkman, na to dey use bic biro rewind and fast forward tapes.

Doesn't get better than that. lol

You can see time and again, that when we come up against a top team, we were always second best at every metric, especially at everything that had to do with running and reflexes. It points to sub-optimal fitness levels.

I imagine that if Potter told the fitness coaches to relax the fitness intensity, then they wouldn't defy.

As a team hoping to win the league when the season starts, we should not be at the bottom of the league in any meaningful metric. Not especially the yards put in by every participant. We should be out-running every team from 4th downwards......but it seems we are not even close.

It could also be the reason why our top players are picking up injuries left right and centre when they get into duels. See CSO pulling a hammy the other day because he dared to run for 40 yards at full speed.

Something is fundamentally wrong.
Yep @ bolded. This has always been my stance.

What I fail to understand is this - even if a coach tells the fitness manager to relax the intensity, there is still the minimum required of every player and unless they are not even doing the minimum then problem is even bigger. Besides, Boli hired all sorts of coaches to boost the overall performance of the team. What happened to that?

The other question is this - Is Brighton now a top team? They outplayed us in every single department and not just on fitness level, they played some orgasmic purposeful football.

If this is a fitness related issue, then there is no hope against Real Madrid.

To be fair to him on this one, he might not be wrong.

There was a report released some weeks ago about running stats for all PL teams. It pointed out that we were either the team with the least collective distance covered or one of the worst, at best.

It pointed to a relaxed team training regime over several months (perhaps also from pre-season preparation), with severe lack of running during training, resulting in sub-optimal fitness for what should be an elite team. I read it at the time and ignored.

If this is resurfacing, then it means that the story was indeed true. It also means that if the story is true, then Lampard is correct and truly, he cannot fix it.
While he might not be wrong, I do not want to believe this to be true.
We have a fitness coach, diet coach, mental coach, aggression coach, dancing coach and whole lot - what exactly is their job?

Every team in the EPL or any level for that matter have a threshold that every single player must meet. Your Speed, kms, Cooper fitness test, your weight and a host of other metrics- this is all tracked, monitored, analysed and compared with other teams/players.

So tell me, how could any of those coaches including the manager not have noticed that the boys are not fit?

Before things deteriorated to this level,we should have called back Lukaku and play 4-4-2 formation.

Flat midfield or is it straight line midfield. Havertz or Fofana should be asked to support Lukaku upfront. Enzo Fernandez,Kante,Mount,Gallagher in a straight line midfield.

Erase the idea of playing like prime Barca when you have no decent ball carrier like iniesta or Hazard and deploy carragher to crouch approach, the ball that misses Lukaku won't miss Havertz or Fofana.Trust me we won't labour for goals or be in this kind of situation with winless runs with such approach.

The earlier we realise we don't have decent wide men on the wings who can't create on a one on one situation the better it is for us to go back to the fundamentals of having two men upfront. My ten cent.
As much as I like your idea, do you honestly think Lukaku is what we need upfront?
