basilico:Trump, GOP drop Nevada court appeal of ballot count case A state court legal fight to stop the counting of mail ballots in the Las Vegas area has ended after the Nevada Supreme Court dismissed an appeal by the Donald Trump campaign and the state Republican party, at their request. The dismissal leaves two active legal cases in Nevada relating to the 2020 presidential election, as a small number of remaining ballots are counted. The campaign and GOP had tried to withdraw the appeal in the state case, submitting a document last week telling the seven-member court that it had reached a settlement calling for Clark County election officials to allow more observers at a ballot processing facility. /apnews.com/ US election results – live: Trump’s law firm pulls out in Arizona, amid claims president knows fight is over https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-election-2020/us-election-results-news-live-biden-trump-map-b1721639.html Donald Trump’s lawyers in Arizona have pulled out of a suit challenging part of the US election vote counting process in Arizona’s Maricopa County. A judge granted Snell & Wilmer’s request to withdraw as counsel of record for the Republican National Committee, which together with the Trump campaign and the Arizona Republican Party had brought legal action alleging the county incorrectly rejected a small number of votes cast on election day. It came amid claims Mr Trump was “very aware there is not a path to victory” over Joe Biden – which did not prevent the outgoing president from continuing to spread false and misleading claims on Twitter on Thursday ---Stop all your rants---Biden is the President-Elect---Trump's electoral lawsuits are getting thrown out in the courts--- |
Republican senator says he will step in if Biden doesn't have access to intelligence briefings by Friday Oklahoma Republican Sen. James Lankford said Wednesday that he will intervene if the Trump administration has not allowed President-elect Joe Biden access to presidential daily intelligence briefings by the end of the week, one of the first rights of a presidential candidate after winning the election. "There is no loss from him getting the briefings and to be able to do that," Lankford told radio station KRMG, noting that he sits on the Senate Oversight Committee and that he's already started engaging on this issue. The Oklahoma Republican said if no progress is made on the issue by Friday, he will step in and say, "This needs to occur so that regardless of the outcome of the election, whichever way that it goes, people can be ready for that actual task." Some GOP senators says Biden should receive classified briefings Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa told reporters on Capitol Hill Thursday morning that he believes Biden should get access to classified briefings to prepare for the transition -- though he wouldn't go so far to say the GSA should recognize Biden as the president-elect yet.

---Judge rejects Trump team's request for secret evidence in lawsuit over Maricopa County votes--- An attorney representing President Donald Trump’s reelection team, in a lawsuit alleging poll workers "incorrectly rejected" Election Day votes, asked a Maricopa County Superior Court judge on Tuesday to seal the evidence he says will support that claim. But attorneys representing the election officials being sued convinced the judge to reject the request after arguing the public “has a right to know how flimsy Plaintiffs’ evidence actually is.” The Trump campaign filed the lawsuit on Saturday alongside the Republican National Committee and the Arizona Republican Party, claiming Maricopa County poll workers had disregarded procedures designed to give voters a chance to correct ballot mistakes on Election Day.

AmazonTopaz:‘It’s all noise’: The reality behind Trump’s legal fight https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/10/trump-legal-strategy-election-435853 Before the election, Republicans bragged about an army of lawyers from three major firms lined up to quickly challenge election results in the presidential election. But now that the big moment has arrived, that army — and those major firms — have not been too visible. Behind the scenes, much of the legal work has been handled by small conservative firms. And publicly, President Donald Trump has relied on his staunchest political allies — some of whom aren’t even lawyers — to explain why states should toss out ballots or invalidate the results altogether. There’s a reason for that. As with everything Trump, the messaging has served as more a base-pleasing political play and less as an attempt to make a logical legal argument to the country, according to Republicans familiar with the plan. The goal is to not only undermine the legitimacy of Joe Biden’s win, but to also rile up supporters for the runoff fight in Georgia that will determine which party controls the Senate next year. It also serves to sow doubt about the integrity of U.S. elections now and in the future, benefiting Trump’s I-never-lose posture. Legally, the Trump team has not made much, if any, progress. Since the Nov. 3 election, the president’s attorneys have not won significant legal challenges in the key swing states Biden won or leads in: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia and Nevada. In some cases, Trump’s team didn’t present the evidence needed to invalidate ballots. Other times, his team didn’t even send in the right documents. |
AmazonTopaz:Trump's Legal Advisor for his election lawsuits doesn’t have a law degree or even a bachelor’s degree. He does have covid, though An adviser for President Donald Trump's campaign, David Bossie, has tested positive for coronavirus only days after he was tapped to oversee the campaign's legal challenges contesting the outcome of the election, two sources confirmed to CNN. Bossie did not immediately respond to a request for comment. He has been in the campaign headquarters in Virginia several times in the last week and has also traveled extensively. Bloomberg News first reported the diagnosis. Bossie, 55, is the president of the conservative nonprofit Citizens United. He previously served as a deputy campaign manager on Trump's 2016 presidential campaign.

Obamacare appears likely to survive Supreme Court challenge With health coverage for millions of Americans on the line, Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh signaled Tuesday that they’re inclined to uphold the majority of the Affordable Care Act and sever the law’s individual insurance mandate if it’s deemed unconstitutional. The U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments for over two hours in a challenge brought by President Donald Trump and 18 Republican-led states seeking to invalidate the mandate and the entire law. It was the third major challenge to the law since it was enacted in 2010 and its fate became a major issue in the just-completed presidential election. |

No Evidence of Systematic Fraud in U.S. Elections, International Observer Mission Reports A team of international observers invited by the Trump administration has issued a preliminary report giving high marks to the conduct of last week’s elections--and it criticizes President Trump for making baseless allegations that the outcome resulted from systematic fraud. A 28-member delegation from the Organization of American States followed events in several locations across the U.S., including in the battleground states of Georgia and Michigan, both remotely and with observers at polling stations and counting centers. “While the OAS Mission has not directly observed any serious irregularities that call into question the results so far, it supports the right of all contesting parties in an election, to seek redress before the competent legal authorities when they believe they have been wronged,” the report said. “It is critical however, that candidates act responsibly by presenting and arguing legitimate claims before the courts, not unsubstantiated or harmful speculation in the public media.” The OAS assessment followed similar findings by an election observation team from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. “Baseless allegations of systematic deficiencies, notably by the incumbent president, including on election night, harm public trust in democratic institutions,” Michael Georg Link, leader of the short-term OSCE observer mission, said last week. wsj.com |
