Russia is a G-8 country hence it decides the fate of many things due to its veto power and has influence far beyond that. Who prevented Obama from directly invading Syria when he wanted to after the massive disastrous intervention in Libya? Putin. Being total enemies with a G-8 country has great consequences.

Same MSM who celebrated US relations with Iran, a terrorist state, under Obama? Even paying it billions?

EU doesn't like Russia? Same EU led by Germany's leader allowing itself get screwed over by Russia? What did the EU, US or UN do in the Poland and Ukraine crises? Nothing because of Russia's status. They all wished they had better relations with Russia.

Who blocked the US from intervening in the South China Sea crisis dragged by China, Japan and smaller countries? Russia. China had/has Russia on its side so it is advancing its cause. Nobody wants Russia as its enemy. Trump understands this and would court Russia to push US agenda.

But you wouldn't understand this because all you crave is the fleeting gratification from being 'upvoted' by your peers on Nairaland with you all having the combined intelligence of a rusted door nail.

The Ukraine state-owned natural gas company caught up in President Donald Trump’s impeachment investigation has appointed a U.S. businessman pushed by former Energy Secretary Rick Perry to its board, two people with direct knowledge of the decision told POLITICO on Thursday.

Houston-based oil and gas executive Robert Bensh is set join the board of Naftogaz, pending final paperwork, the two people said, adding that his appointment has drawn opposition from some other board members. They said the move has led at least one of them, Amos Hochstein, to prepare to resign.

The Ukraine government informed Naftogaz last week that it had approved Bensh, two people with knowledge said.

The appointment adds to questions about Perry’s role in Ukrainian energy politics and whether the former Texas governor had pressured the government there to buy U.S. energy supplies to win favor with the Trump administration. Perry, as first reported by POLITICO, had originally pushed Naftogaz to accept Bensh and another Perry associate, Texas oil and gas executive with ties to Ukraine, Michael Bleyzer, onto its board.

The man the Treasury Department called "an active Russian agent for over a decade," met with President Donald Trump's personal attorney Rudy Giuliani to dig up dirt on former Vice President Joe Biden.

Andrii Derkach, a member of the Ukrainian Parliament, and three other Russian-linked individuals were designated, Thursday, by Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control, for attempting to influence the U.S. electoral process.

"Andrii Derkach and other Russian agents employ manipulation and deceit to attempt to influence elections in the United States and elsewhere around the world," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement.

Last November, Derkach appeared with Giuliani as part of a One America News (OAN) "investigation" that aired in December, the same week the House of Judiciary Committee approved articles of impeachment against the president.

Widespread rapid testing. Football stadiums filled with fans. A rebounding jobs market.

Those are just some of the promises and predictions President Donald Trump and his administration have made since the early days of the novel coronavirus pandemic about what the federal government would deliver by September and before -- a month that at one point seemed distant enough that it would leave ample time to develop plans to combat the virus.

Plagued by what critics call a slow response to the virus out of the gate, the self-imposed deadline has been used time and again by senior administration officials, health experts on the White House coronavirus task force and the president himself as part of an effort to prophesize progress in the ongoing response to the coronavirus and the elusive return to normalcy.

Now September is here, and an ABC News review found that nearly all of those promises and predictions -- on testing, nursing homes, and death rates, among others -- have either fallen short or are drastically behind.

Warm summer weather did not cause the virus to vanish. Testing still lags in nearly every metric. And with federal support funds depleted, the nation's employers are emerging from the summer without any sense of an imminent resurgence.
