Trump suggests he would 'negotiate' a 3rd term as president because he is 'probably entitled' to it

https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-negotiate-third-term-in-office-2020-9?r=US&IR=T

President Donald Trump on Saturday once again suggested interest in serving three terms in office, telling attendees of a campaign event in Nevada that he was "probably entitled" to an additional four years following a hypothetical second term.

"And 52 days from now we're going to win Nevada, and we're going to win four more years in the White House," Trump told the mostly maskless, non-socially-distant crowd of his supporters on Saturday. "And then after that, we'll negotiate, right? Because we're probably — based on the way we were treated — we are probably entitled to another four after that."

Trump has frequently argued that he's been treated unfairly in comparison with his predecessors, often pointing to the Russia investigation and his impeachment. Throughout his first term as president, Trump has also frequently floated the idea that he will attempt to serve more than two terms in office.

In August, at a rally in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the president similarly suggested he was owed a third presidential term.

...Don the Con at it again...he wants to be like his Master Putin...

One of the reasons Trump was very bitter when Bloomberg contributed 100m towards Biden's campaign. grin
Whilst a nairaland MAGA was debating blindingly the other day that California will turn 'Red' in November, Trump campaign cannot even funds ads in smaller states.

By the way we are still waiting for Trump to spend $100m of his personal money for his relection campaign

Trump Campaign Slashes Ad Spending in Key States in Cash Crunch

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-09-14/trump-campaign-slashes-ad-spending-in-key-states-in-cash-crunch

President Donald Trump’s campaign is scaling back its television advertising spending and in some cases abandoning it altogether for now in key states, facing a cash crunch brought on by huge investments in staff and operations.

Trump’s re-election campaign vowed last month to saturate voters early with ads in battleground states where voters cast large numbers of ballots before Election Day. But with 50 days until the election, the campaign is canceling ads in states he’ll need to win. In those crucial states, Trump lags Democratic nominee Joe Biden in polling, and Biden has more money to spend.

Between Aug. 10 and Sept. 7, Biden spent $97.7 million on broadcast and cable ads, while Trump spent $21.6 million, according to ad-tracking firm Advertising Analytics.

In some crucial battleground states Biden outspent Trump. In Wisconsin, Biden spent $9.2 million to Trump’s $1.5 million; in Florida, Biden spent $23.2 million to Trump’s $6.4 million; in Arizona, Biden spent $10 million compared to $1.4 million by Trump, and in North Carolina, Biden spent $11.5 million to Trump’s $3.7 million.

Georgia was one state where the Trump campaign outspent Biden -- $2.7 million to $1.3 million.

In that same period, the Trump campaign stopped running ads in Michigan and Pennsylvania, two battleground states where Trump currently trails Biden by about 4 percentage points, according to RealClearPolitics. Biden booked $8.5 million in Michigan and nearly $16.8 million in Pennsylvania.

‘Cash Crunch’
“They are in a cash crunch. It’s obvious by looking at these numbers,” said Republican strategist Bryan Lanza, deputy communications director for Trump’s 2016 campaign. “As with any campaign, you adapt to the environment. They can’t cut from payroll, they can’t cut from operating so they’ve got to cut from TV. That’s not killer, but it’s a problem. You always want to have a strategic advantage when you’re competing against anybody and when you lose it, that’s a problem.”

While Trump’s August fundraising hit a record for his campaign at $210 million, it is far less than the $365.4 million Biden and the Democratic National Committee raised last month. The campaign has not released its cash-on-hand figures.

Trump has discussed putting as much as $100 million into his campaign, as he trails Biden in national polls and a majority of voters seem to have soured on his handling of the coronavirus.

Trump fact-checked after trying to pass off 4-year-old photo showing support for him as new

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/09/trump-fact-checked-after-trying-to-pass-off-4-year-old-photo-showing-support-for-him-as-new/#.X16F0c8Z8W8.twitter

President Donald Trump proudly tweeted out a photo of a yard full of campaign signs to prove that he’s overwhelmed with huge amounts of support. In reality, however, the image was from four years ago, the DailyDot caught.

The metaphor couldn’t be more obvious as Trump struggles to rebuild the same 2016 coalition he won with after years of failed leadership, broken promises, a dangerous pandemic, and more.

Not only did the photographer fact-check the president, he called him out for using it without giving credit to him or ProPublica.

The site also explained that the president should cite its photographer if he intends to steal their image.

“Mr. President, thanks for taking advantage of @ProPublica’s Creative Commons policy, which lets anyone republish our content for free,” tweeted ProPublica. “However, you should note this photo is not new, but from 2016 and, per our policy, you should’ve credited @AlecMacGillis as photographer.”

Canada reports no new deaths from coronavirus for the first time since March

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/canada-zero-coronavirus-covid-deaths-first-time/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&linkId=99468116

Canada reported no new deaths from COVID-19 on Friday for the first time in six months. The last time the country reported no new deaths from the virus on March 15, at the start of lockdowns in North America due to the pandemic, Reuters reports.

As of Friday evening, over 6 million people had been tested for COVID-19 in Canada, 2.1% of which came back positive. Some 702 new cases were reported on Friday, but no new deaths, the Public Health Agency of Canada reported.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Quebec reported one new death on September 11, but Ontario removed a previously reported death. That meant the number of deaths reported, 9,163, remained unchanged from the previous day.

As the numbers improve, "I am reminded of the ways Canadians have pulled together to reduce the spread of COVID-19," Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada's Chief Public Health Officer, said Thursday in a statement. "We have been physically apart from each other in order to plank the curve, but we have found new ways to be together, and connected, while at a distance."

The majority of cases, 80.0%, and deaths, 93.7%, have been reported by Ontario and Quebec.

That's the real Trump America. We are patiently waiting to take our pound of flesh on Nov 3rd.

Black church leaders demand apology for Trump campaign ad

https://religionnews.com/2020/09/13/ame-church-leaders-demand-apology-for-trump-ad/

Leaders of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and the pastor of an AME congregation in Wilmington, Delaware, are condemning a Trump-Pence campaign ad that uses footage of Joe Biden kneeling in the sanctuary of a Black church, describing it as racist and demanding an apology.

The Rev. Silvester S. Beaman, pastor of Bethel AME church that is featured in the digital spot released Wednesday (Sept. 9), said it encourages viewers to see Black church leaders and their flocks as “thuggish rule breakers.”

“The ad is overtly racist and offensive on numerous levels,” Beaman told Religion News Service on Saturday (Sept. 13). “It is a racist attack on the African American church, and because it was an attack on the Christian church, it should be offensive to every Christian and person of faith.”

Beaman was joined by leaders of the AME denomination, who are preparing a statement decrying the ad to be released on Monday.

"This ad subtly incites white terrorism against people of color and attacks the Black Church and Black people for refusing to bow down to the idol called white supremacy," read a draft of the statement provided to RNS.

The advertisement mostly featured scenes from protests against police killings that roiled several American cities this Spring and summer, emphasizing violent clashes between demonstrators and riot police.

But as the advertisement ended, it cut to slow-motion footage of former Vice President Biden kneeling at Bethel in front of a group of Black leaders, including Beaman. It was followed by a slide that read “Stop Joe Biden and his rioters” before an audio clip of Vice President Mike Pence said “you won’t be safe in Joe Biden’s America” accompanied the sound of cackling.

The footage was taken from Biden’s visit to Bethel back in June, when he met and prayed with a group of Black clergy and community leaders in the aftermath of demonstrations decrying the death of George Floyd at the hands of a policeman in Minneapolis.

Beaman said the ad signals that “white folk in general and Trump’s base should fear the Black church,” and “that Black church leaders and thus members of the Black church are “thuggish rule breakers.”

“That is an erroneous depiction and it is offensive,” he said.

Fox News Poll: Biden-Trump a 5-point race in post-convention poll

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fox-news-poll-biden-trump-a-5-point-race-in-post-convention-poll

The Joe Biden-Kamala Harris ticket is ahead of the Donald Trump-Mike Pence ticket by a 51-46 percent margin. That 5 percentage-point advantage sits right at the margin of sampling error of the latest Fox News survey, taken after the Democratic and Republican national conventions.

Majorities of likely voters have a positive opinion of Biden and trust him over Trump on coronavirus, Supreme Court nominations, and uniting the country -- and that nudges the former vice president just over 50 percent in the presidential race.

The national survey, released Sunday, is the first Fox News has conducted among likely voters this year and the first time it included running mates in the vote preference question.

Both tickets have secured the backing of their key voting blocs. Biden leads among women, suburban voters, seniors, millennials, Blacks, and Hispanics. Trump is ahead among men, Whites, rural voters, veterans, White Catholics, and Gen Xers.

"Despite the often tumultuous events of the day, campaigns are often about partisan homecoming. Trump may be benefiting from this dynamic," says Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who conducts the Fox News Poll with Democrat Chris Anderson. "It looks like Republican-leaning undecided voters have come around, both in the ballot and his job ratings."
