Hi all. Good to finally come across this thread. Please I am considering buying this sweet 2003 BMW X5. However I've never owned a BMW and I'd love to know what are the likely issues I may have with the ride hving gotten quite a number of discouraging opinions in a thread I opened. I also noticed that most top range SUVs are not as expensive as I'd imagined compared to the camrys and other japs and a friend says the prices are low because they usually have parts and maintence issues. Please advice.

@ op, do not heed this advise. There are other older versions of the X5 that have been well maintained by those who truly understands and values their Bimmers.

For the fact that you've seen one or two in bad shape doesn't mean that they are all like that.

@ op, is this your first time of considering buying a Bimmer? Welcome to the club if it is. I was once like you. Before I bought my Bimmer though, I made a lot of inquiries from those who already owned Bimmers. What is the current condition of the X5 you wanna purchase? Do you know the owner personally? I don't know your location but you can request someone who knows more about Bimmers to accompany you to inspect the condition of the X5.

Bro, thanks for your input. Yes, its my first Bimmer. The ride is toks brought in late last year. The seller also agreed to taking it for auto scan centre before I make payment. Am in lagos. Will check around for a good bimmer mech. Alternatively there's also a 2003 E300 Benz in the same price range with the Bimmer. What do you think?

Ok. I love that Beemer but am going to take some time and make more research, seek opinion from some expert beemer mechanics that I've noticed around then decide. Really appreciate the insightful opinions.

QX4 started in 1997-1999 with 3.3L V6 steel engine, mid-cycle refresh in 2000-2002 3.5L V6 aluminium engine, ended production in 2003. Theres no such thing as. Infiniti Qx4 special edition. Qx4 is Qx4 and all are base trim.

X5 isnt a bad choice. I have been a bimmer in the past 10 years, personally i wud advice you go for X3 that has 3.0 engine, fuel efficient and easier to maintain. If you still want the x5, do a good investigation on its condition with ur mechanic, I cud also assist if you are in Abuja.

@All, like sultan rightly pointed out, most of us wannabe car owners don't really have any car knowledge. In my little understanding of maintenance, I assumed that if I service my car the way I do my generator set, every 3-4 months, I have the oil changed, the set is taken apart and cleaned up including changing any recommended parts by my efficient mechanic, and after each service I see a significant change in the sound and output. I have used this particular 2.5Kv generator since 2008 and its still in top shape. Won't this approach of maintenance work with any automobile? I was chatting with an auto mechanic around my street and he said even the strongest car will fall apart in no time if its not serviced as at when due. So am wondering if car parts don't give any kind of sign before it falls apart?

Waiting d car since july to sep means d guy has plenty money from several clients waiting.
N here I'm warning u that oneday those 41c will collect advance from several clients , it may be around 50M, n later vanish.


My advice is do not pay any advance wtout guarantee
