Please can I connect the battery charger and still connect the ups power cable to light?
That would be double charging.
I want to know who has done it or is doing it!
What's the outcome like

Reason is that if it's possible, I could record my fav tv show without any interruption when the light goes off. Since the ups is on and already connected to it. Because if the ups isn't connected, it means the setup would always continue to draw power from the battery even when full. But when the ups is connected, it's starts to draw from the power source when the battery is full which is healthy for the battery.

I got a bluegate bg-1550 ups,
The ups is 1.5kva and it uses 2 inbuilt 12v/7ah battery,
I want to know if it's possible to use a single 12v 100ah battery,

I tried running it on one battery and it powered up.
But I'm quite worried if it's workable,
Or do I need to make it a 2 battery system,

I've seen you converted a similar higher bluegate with 2 battery.

A two battery system could either be wired in series (to give 24v) or in parallel (to give 12v). You should have checked carefully before removing the batteries to know if its a series or a parallel connection. If you tried running it with a single 12v battery and it powered up and worked fine, then, its probably a 12v system which implies you can use one 12v 100ah battery. If it does not work fine on a single battery, then, its a 24v system and you need at least two batteries to run it.

Press and hold the ON button for about 5seconds and release. If everything is OK, it should come ON.

PWM Controllers:

A FET switch is used, under control of some algorithm, to
rapidly connect a power source, to a battery. The switch "makes" and "breaks"
many times a second, to control the charge. (Pulse Width Modulation)
When the battery is quite low, the FET switch is ON, and the
panels are connected directly to the battery, and since PC panels are a
"current source" their voltage drops (or is pulled low to the battery
voltage) and some power is lost, depending on the difference of the Vpmax
of the solar, and the present voltage of the batteries.
PV voltage - Battery voltage = Difference x Amps = Lost wattage

Note if the array was a 200W array, amps would be 11.11Aa
18V @ 11.11A = 200watts
Assuming the voltage of the battery is 12.2V, then the power loss will be

18V PV - 12.2V battery = 5.8V @ 11.11amps = 64.438W lost
So a 200W panel array will only give 135W of power to the battery



MPPT Controllers: [Maximum power point tracking]

A more sophisticated circuit is used, much like a "DC
Transformer" to dynamically convert the power source (water, wind generator
or PV panels) via an efficient DC-DC conversion process. This can also
down convert high voltage DC, to suitable charging voltage for the battery,
with very low losses, about 95% efficient. This is a good thing if you
have a remote array - you can run high voltage DC to the controller and avoid
expensive high amp wire, and incur lower losses.
The MPPT advantage vanishes when the controller switches
from the BULK charging mode, to ABSORB, and does not need the extra power
recovered from the conversion process, and falls back to PWM for ABSORB and
FLOAT stages. This can be managed in different ways for individual
systems, as many MPPT controllers have user programmable settings.
This is the simple gist of it, the actual workings are much deeper than
I can go into here.

As the system gets larger, the cost trade off between the
simple PWM controller and the expensive MPPT (with possibly shorter
lifetime with more complex innards) and PV panel & rack costs, shifts, and
it's left to each user to decide which controller is most appropriate for
their situation. The tipping point is around 600 - 1,000 watts

I only repair inverters I install, for your solar panel requirements, I'll need to get a breakdown of your watt-hour per day. From experience, you'll need 1000watts of solar panels using an MPPT charge controller and that will cost you N650k but of course, you can start small and upgrade with time.
