Come to Bayelsa state you will be surprised how water is a scarce commodity, imagine waking up from bed early just to meet a Mai ruwa to get water.

The worse is Bayelsa sate... Can you imagine a 20litre gallon of water is N25?

Bayelsa is surrounded by water but can't boast of 10% water supply in the state capital.
Its even more expensive having your own borehole cos the water is contaminated with Iron and impurities which will cost you over 40K per year for treatment for one to be able to use in the house. We rely on pure water(sachet water) for drinking.

1.Unreasonable amounts spent on the bottomless pit called subsidy...which prevents the flowing in of investment...and more refineries, and better gas supply infrastructure

2.Power subsidy...which prevents DISCOS and Gencos from investing in expansion of power supply facilities,. and prevents new investors from coming in.

Allow DISCOS and GENCOS to set their prices, and allow the price of fuel to be set by marketers...leading to flow of investment into the power and oil sector...meaning better gas supply, better power supply, more refineries....and better savings for government...making our economy grow...and taking us off oil dependency

I dunno where to start from cos I cant even afford to pay a third of that amount which I'm sure he's not ready to accept. The worse thing is that PHED only brings power 3nights in a week.

That amount is too much. This is something close to exhortation. I think you should Involve authorities from the power company or why not use whatever you have and buy a generator if you don't have the energy to fight.

That what it seems like with the tone, I have a generator I use, I'm even considering an alternative power solution, but my fear is the freezer as 4 to 6 hours a day might not keep things safe. I just called a Solar guy to give me an estimate.

A neighbor who could afford it already paid 200k, he wouldn't even power the guy except he paid the complete money.

I moved into my new home which is a newly developing area some months ago. I am surrounded by a neighbor who owns practically 85% of the buildings in the street. Being the first to move into the area, he made the connections from some street near by and recently bought a transformer to power his estate( he also owns other buildings in the street) recently he decided to power the rest of his houses to the newly bought transformer because the source we connected from had to disconnect our street due to low voltage, but he is demanding that I should pay 300k before my building can be connected. As I'm making this post, my house has been disconnected.

I appreciate his effort in developing the street and for also powering the area, but what I can't understand is why will he have to charge me that high for connection fee? Does anyone have the right to charge for connection fee apart from the Distribution Companies?

Your suggestions on how to go about this situation is welcomed.
