He doesn't understand complex global supply chains that see a car part crisscrossing the border between the US and Canada a few times before the car is made. Nobody is moving his company to America. If America want people to buy from them, they should do what others have been doing, devalue their currency. Their currency is too high, if you produce something there, nobody will be able to afford it. That's why China and South Korea kept their currency low, to encourage exports. You definitely won't tell me all their products are inferior. some of these countries just choose other markets instead of the u.s market. For example, U.S imports a lot of products and services from china, which placed 67% tarrifs on their products compared to U.s 34%, and still at that, China purchases all their oil needs from Russia and Iran, even as U.S currently exports cool crude oil products.

Also, the tarrifs will challenge their indigenous producers like the Mercedes you mentioned to produce better quality products so they can compete in the market, since tarrifs will generally discourage consumers from buying foreign products
