I literally monitored the battle for Kyiv till daybreak. First VDV were defeated at Hostomel Airport, then there was a brutal battle on the road that lasted all night. Then the convoy that headed for Kyiv got stuck as the advancing troops that would have secured passage for them were ambushed and totally destroyed and all the supply behind them were also ambushed and destroyed. yes they were beaten back to the borders. In February/ March 2022 Russians occupied Kyiv (the oblast), Kharkiv, Kherson and were talking about taking Odessa they were beaten and they retreated from every one of those places and moved to the border cities.
