Canadian nurse and other applicants, please, was the proof of "fund export" request sent as a separate mail or was it requested via your application portal (as it is with the medical request).
Also, did the two requests (medical and fund export) come in together at the same time.
I will really appreciate your responses. |

Scholasticus, Please are we to choose more than one course during the application? Scholasticus: Read the advert again bro! The advert says courses with strong relevance/ties to offshore or subsea or demonstrated interest for same. So....someone in Mechanical Engineering stands not the same chance with someone in FOOD ENGINEERING. Besides, if your Statement of Purpose is convincingly and well tailored, I think you should be good. Believe me I had to pause my application at the Statement of Purpose/Research Plan section because there are more to cover than I thot initially - Why IBOSET should sponsor your programme of study; Why the Course/University; Your success and achievement relevant to the course; How the course/programme fits into your career plans and ambitions; How the scholarship/programme will benefit your immediate community (professional and/or social) and the larger society on return to Nigeria.
Their application is not like NDDC........its really international in standard. |

maestroferddi: Did you read my post upside down?
Beefing on first class people...How ridiculous can you get? What is the issue with stating what is otherwise known facts?
Was I sounding like someone that cared a pin whether every Adamu, Chike and Tunde gets awarded a first class in Nigeria?
My man, you need to tweak your comprehension skills because it needs some makeover... Whao! And I wasn't expecting such a response from a man that has an high level of comprehension. "there is always this beef" doesn't point out you have got any, but someone else might. In a forum like this, objectivity would be highly apprecited. A lovely day bro |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: The Over-hyping Of First Class Honours In Nigeria by fembas316(m): 8:02am On Sep 02, 2014 |
maestroferddi: Well granted, that the number I gave looks superfluous, but it is a known fact that it is easier to make first class in the South West.
Strange as it sounds, I know of certain universities in the South East and South South that hardly confer first class degree. There are instances where the Senate of some institutions refused to endorse results from departments citing the impracticality of having say, more than 3 first class degrees in a department. I have seen candidates demoted to a second class upper degree by senates.
There are some federal universities in SS and SE that have not awarded more than 10 first class degrees in more than 15 years across all faculties.
Don't know you mean by PRESSID but I have not discovered any difference in performance among products of universities from the SW and that of their SE and SS counterparts.
If there is anything, some candidates with lower grades from SS and SE having been known to outperformed some of their peers from SW with first class degrees. Lol, You have dished out your mind in an appreciable manner, but I want to believe that there is always this "beef" for the firsty guys here which is totally uncalled for. As I indicated earlier, I have never belong to the school of thought that the firsty are superman; nevertheless they hold their worth. One thing I will not shy away from saying is that; we might not be churning out a first class graduate who has an all-round balance (balancing the academic prowess with interpersonal/social-curriculum strength) whereas some 2.1 guys could be an all-rounder I graduated from one of the SW uni and my graduating year (2009) saw only 7 first class graduates in the whole of the Engineering faculty. And prior to that time, the first class turn out in my dept (chemical engineering dept) was as follows: 2004: One (01) 2005: Nil 2006: Nil 2007: Nil 2008: one (01) 2009: one (01) in a class of 124 @maestroferddi, It has been nice conversing with you And to the op, You only fail as a first class graduate when you stop living up to the expectations. Three months is not too long a wait! |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: The Over-hyping Of First Class Honours In Nigeria by fembas316(m): 6:18am On Sep 02, 2014 |
maestroferddi: I disagree that folks with an engineering/science background underperform in verbal aptitude tests. I think it is more or less a person-specific thing.
Engineering students record one of the most impressive results in general tests across non-cognate professions like finance, auditing, banking etc.
Yes, it is easier to finish with higher grades in certain parts of the country. It is well known that universities in the South West more readily confer first class degrees than say those in the South East and South South. What does it tell you when a single department confers over 100 first class degrees while the counterparts at the other parts of the country confers, say less than 3 with the same class size?
You be the judge... Well, You ve got a nice response here! There is no doubting the fact that Engineering degree holder readily outdo their social science counterparts at that level. Nevertheless, comparing the mathematical and verbal prowess as earlier stated is relative. Maybe it is an exaggeration, but I ve never seen/heard of any institution that conferred a hundred first class degree "all within a single department". Does that mean all in the department graduated with a first class? If I should get you right, does it mean a First class graduate from the south western uni will fall short of such grade had it been he/she studied in the South south ot the south east?? Kindly check out the list of PRESSID awardees in the very first edition (2012/2013 edition) when the "federal character was not employed" and revert with the number of south western awardees in all. You won't be amazed that they dominated the bulk of the list |

Graduating with a first class degree is quite a fresh challenge! Finishing with a first class, you have well proven to be smart and intelligent; but never forget the fact that you might not be more intelligent than some of the 2.1 guys; but no doubt, you are smarter and probably more dedicated and challenged at that level. In the labour market, your basic assessment is inform of aptitude where your quantitative, numerical and verbal abilities are tested. Who says a 2.1 or even some 2.2 guys can't match a first class guy in these aspects? Hence the dire need for a firsty guy to up his game, else his credibility will be wrongly questioned. Moreso, some first class degree holder in Engineering often find it difficult to match their Mathematical prowess with the grammatical/verbal prowess; a negative in some of their recruitment process! Never forgetting the fact that you can't scale through all recruitment process no matter how brilliant you are and at the same time you can't receive the regret mail in all recruitment processes. This alone is a great motivation that kept me going! I was involved in the KPMG recruitment back then in 2011 and fell out after the third stage of assessment. Yeah, I couldn't defend my stand as a prospective Tax audit employee. WOULD YOU THEN CALL THAT A COMPLETE FAILURE AS A FIRST CLASS DEGREE HOLDER IN CHEMICAL ENGINEERING?? MAYBE, MAYBE NOT!! Being a First class graduate, you might develop this unknown ego overnight - not a very bad one though, but don't allow this get into your head. Being selective when it comes to application is not healthy in this part of the world; YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, STARTING SMALL AIN'T AN ISSUE AND THAT DOESN'T PREVENT ONE FROM ATTAINING HIS AIM. Do explore multiple options, bearing it in mind that disappointment and setbacks might come, but that does not signify failure. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND TO THOSE CLASSIFYING FIRST CLASS BY THE DIFFERENT AWARDING INSTITUTIONS, AM YET TO UNDERSTAND YOUR ARGUMENT. ARE THERE DIFFERENCES IN THE CURRICULUM OR THE LECTURERS DASH OUT GRADES AT WILL ? |

But, sincerely, we are not supposed to put the cart before the horse....if there is anyone who is so conversant with the trend of things in Osun state's educational sector, I believe he/she will see this fantastic move from ogbeni as a good one but not a perfect one in the sense that it is like someone erecting a building from the roofs.
