I said that the attack was 'timely' because Iran really didn't intend to kill any US citizen (following the threats from Trump). Killing a citizen of the US would have stretched the matter much further and, no matter how you try to look at it, Iran lacks the military might to fight the US in any way; and therefore, will rather push money into their crawling economy than spend more money trying to be at war with a world power.

So, it's not a question of how much damage was done to the US, what matters is that they had their revenge (anyhow), and everyone is comfortable with it.
