Since the aim is to celebrate victims, can't they collapse one for the other and adopt only one event?. Either Biafra day or Igbo day, one should go.

Biafra day is said to be a symbolic day in the history of igbos, it comes up May 30 every year. It is dedicated to the remembrance of the fallen victims of the civil war.
Igbo day is also said to be as symbolic as the Biafra day, it is celebrated every September 29 of each year. It is a day set aside to remember the victims that were killed on the 29th of Semptember, 1966 when 30,000 igbos were estimated to have been victims of the aftermath of the counter coup in the entire Northern Nigeria.

Why then is one event more symbolic and more celebrated than the other?. You would agree with me that igbos tend to celebrate Biafra day more than the Igbo day, they put on biafra paraphenalia, the T-shirts, wrist bands, flags, fez caps, towns and cities all painted yellow and green but little or nothing about the Igbo day, perhaps, only the leadership of Ohaneze gathered in a small open field to celebrate and go back home while the average igbo man, woman and kid looks away.
