China has always been strategic about their export choices from Nigeria, they bring in their money and export 100% of our mineral resources, they spend to take our petroleum gas, urea, refined copper, gold, lithium, marble, gem stones, thorium ore, etc. Nigeria on the other hand spent billions of dollars to import senseless things like meat, egg, seafoods, artificial flowers, human hair, umbrellas, walking sticks, honey, carpets, clock, watches, toys, cuttleries, games, cosmetics, printed books, food spices, salt, sugar cane, toileteries, perfumer, sugar confectioneries, wheat, candles, textile fabrics, phones, phone chargers, plastics, paper, paper board, footwears, edible vegetables, starches, bulbs & lightnings, edible fruits, wood charcoal, pharmaceuticals, dying extracts, tanning, soaps, leathers, the list is endless. These are enough to kill the local production capacity and erode the value of the naira. I concur with the FG's measures to have stopped the wastages of defending the naira.

A nation grappling with forex crisis would further plunge when its people scramble for scarce FX in their excessive desires for all things import and as we speak, the scrambling is increasing on a daily. As citizens, we created the mess by ourselves, when it blew up in our faces, we then charasteristically push the blames on the government.

In a very terse statement, you can't give what you don't have. Can southeast pull off a national protest?, do they have the dog in them to fight?, i honestly do not think so. When Prof. Yusuf Usman was asked why the SE are not talking(joining in protests), his response was that he didn't know. Maybe truly, maybe he was being sarcastic, however, historical antecedents and pattern of events have shown quite revealingly that SE has never been a forceful region to gather a momentum for a nationwide protest with an end product for change and national redirection. SE are more docile and submissive, more often than not, they needed a push from other regions to set them on the tangent. Since 1960, all major protests, never had any been ignited in the east. 1987 Ali must go, 1993 democratic movement, 1988 Anti-SAP, 2012 subsidy protest, 2020 End SARS, were either brewed from the SW, SS or North. To be candid, asking SE to talk is a weight a bit too much for them, they're much a less forceful region in Nigeria.

Stop being crudely conspiratorial, subsidy is unconstitutional and illegal by virtue of Petroleum Industry Act signed into law in 2022. As a crude oil producing country, we have no business paying subsidy on fuel much less importing refined fuel. Past regimes that deliberately looked away for over four decades while four refineries rot away are liable. I would have hoped that two or more private investors could have also taken the initiative than have only Dangote at the forefront.
