Webmasters / Olx Introduces “verified Cars” Category To Guarantee Car Buyers’ Safety by Femoje(m): 10:04pm On Oct 05, 2017
Naspers Classifieds company, OLX has introduced a “Verified Cars” category to guarantee car buyers’ safety in Nigeria and Kenya
Separate from the “Vehicles” category, this means that all cars in the “Verified Cars” have been verified by OLX before being uploaded on the site.
According to Peter Ndiang’ui, OLX Kenya country manager; “Our new verified cars category is a further step to ensuring that car buyers are guaranteed of safety when buying cars in our platform. It is very different from our normal vehicles category in that, a buyer is now able to buy cars that have been checked and verified by OLX car experts before being uploaded to our site.”
Uche Nwagboso, PR & Communications Lead, OLX Nigeria also corroborated this by saying that “Trust & Safety is our number one priority here in Nigeria which is why we continue to ensure our users can trade on our platform conveniently and safely. The introduction of of the verified car category goes a step further to provide a safe shopping experience for buyers in the vehicle category.”
Asked whether this feature will be extended to other categories like real estate; she said that “This feature is only available in the vehicle category as it only displays listings of Do It For Me (D.I.F.M) users. D.I.F.M is a premium service that helps busy executives sell their vehicles with the help of OLX Champs. The Champs handle posting the vehicles on the site, taking calls from buyers, negotiating the right price and closing the deal. The involvement of the OLX Champs not only helps our users sell their cars stress free but also helps buyers verify the vehicles for sale”
Related to this, Peter also said that OLX is interested in helping to provide money for people to buy cars. In his words, “Majority of interested car buyers in our site as we noticed, are interested in buying cars on OLX however, they do not have money to do so immediately. We would like to tap in to this bracket of buyers and so, we will soon be entering in to partnerships with financial and insurance companies to cater to these buyers.”
With these new features, it would seem that OLX is taking traditional classifieds to another level.

Webmasters / Why We Shut Down Efritin.com In Nigeria – CEO, Nils Hammer by Femoje(m): 9:50pm On Oct 05, 2017
According to news reports this week, online classifieds marketplace, Efritin.com has closed shop in Nigeria due to Nigeria’s economic conditions, 16 months after its launch.
“It basically has to do with the fact that we didn’t get desired returns on our investment, so we decided to scale back on our investments in Nigeria and that means we are forced to let many people leave the company,” Nils Hammar CEO of Saltside, owners of Efritin told ITWeb Africa in an interview.
The staff of the company are already leaving the head office, which is located in Ikeja and the properties of the company are being put up for sale. However, the company clarified that the site is not going to be shutdown but it will be up and running as it has been. But how do they intend to manage this?
“I think the data cost in Nigeria is very high. In comparison to other parts of West Africa, Africa and the rest of the world, it is very expensive to use the Internet for the vast majority of the people. It is very difficult for e-commerce and classifieds because they are quite late in the evolution of the Internet industry,” said Nils.
Why Efritin.com may not have closed shop because of Nigeria’s economic condition
It would be recalled that in November 2016, it was reported that the former marketing manager of Efritin.com, Uche Ajene who is well known in the online retail space had accused the Somalian national and former MD of Efritin.com, Zakaria Hersi of stealing thousands of dollars, turning a blind eye to internal mismanagement and false fully creating invoice trails.
According to Techmoran, senior members of Efritin.com management who pleaded anonymity say that Zakaria Hersi’s activities were the beginning of the end for Efritin.com Nigeria as they struggled to raise further investment to scale the business.
The company is also reported to have 10 court cases in Nigeria that would cost it about N20million in fees. Although in an interview with ITWeb Africa, Nils Hammar CEO of Saltside, owners of Efritin refused to comment on the court cases and said it was not the reason why they were closing shop in Nigeria.
“I’m not commenting on any legal issues whether it’s true or its status. I understand the question from your point of view, but I cannot comment on it,” said Nils.
Looking at the issues that faced the company one will wonder if the high cost of data or Nigeria’s economic condition is the real reason why they are closing shop in Nigeria.

Business / Re: What Biz Can I Start With 5m? by Femoje(m): 8:23pm On Jul 19, 2017
I will suggest you diversify the funds into two different businesses
1. invest in farming Eg, plantain and banana farming are good business you get back your pay within 1 and half year.
2. get a shop at a good location and open a boutique while you wait for your farm to grow you still sell your stuff at the boutique.

she followed her heart, we are all free to follow any religion or balance your previous religion with another. I'm a christian by birth I also fasted with the Muslims I did it last year and this year, and I pray to do more. One God we serve but different ways we serve God, and different doctrine we applied no religion is perfect, accepting everybody as one will make us live in peace. thank you

Career / Re: For About 2 Years Now, I Get Paid For Doing No Work. I Need Advice by Femoje(m): 8:31pm On May 02, 2017
Naturallyme:
Hello Guys, I know this is not typical of Nigerians to complain of getting paid without doing tangible work. As for me , am not comfortable with it but it seems no way out for me.
I am a very ambitious Mechanical Engineer with experience in various sections within the discipline because I have been working before graduation. Have both HNd and B.Eng. background. You know what that means.

I have been working in an Engineering firm for 6 years now but I have a big issue. I have been soo redundant for about 2 years now at my place of work. No sack, salaries paid as at when due, no project forthcoming and we are resume to work everyday. I have tried to get in touch with the management on we can diversify our operations maybe we can use our resources to get jobs outside our scope but all effort were futile.
I have considered leaving because staying their doesn't add value to me anymore. New jobs are not forthcoming.
Honestly I feel am sitting on a gun powder which I feel will blow one day. Even if this coy has so much money in the reserve, one day the money will finish.

Within this two years I have done some personal development training of Project Management, Maintenance Engineering and Managent because those are areas I love so much and would want to development myself privately. I had MNSE and COREN during this period hoping things will get better and I will move on. Up till now, nothing is forthcoming o. I am bothered. 2 years gone without doing anything and am getting paid. Pls am afraid. Resigning is not an option because I have bills to pay. Their not considering sacking anyone which means we will all remain their. Jobs are not forthcoming . Many interviews no reply . some would say am over qualified while I need to change job asap. Pls I need advice.

get a plan B job ( I mean ur personal small business you have passion for that will get you some cash outside that salary) because one day they will decide to shotdown when you needed cash most... am talking from experience mine was about six months no work but we get salary at the end of every month, so Bro be smart about this.
