Chai God take control o.
Yes o. Please have you checked the CEAC visa status website? I can just imagine what you must be feeling. My parents could barely sleep themselves. It had been such a harrowing few days.

I pray that the God that caused joy to come in my life will also cause you to smile and laugh.

I'm sorry for your rejection. I can understand why they would want to deny you. Definitely look into applying for a Masters. I think you've wasted enough money on visa application fees.

Praise God. It has been a harrowing 3 days.

I'd really like to thank NL for the fantastic information and support I have received over this whole visa application process.

This makes sense actually. In the UK it seemed quite common for young girls to be brought from Nigeria to serve as househelps. They'd use the visitor visa category. I wasn't aware this could also be a problem in the US.

Hey guys.
I'm also in this boat for one of my kids. Meanwhile my other child and mine have been picked up at DHL office. This is going on week 2. The wait is killing.
I'm so sorry to hear this. The wait is indeed terrible. The worst part is there NOTHING you can do. Your only recourse is to either ask for your passport back, which you will then have to mail back once the visa is approved, or withdraw the visa application entirely.

It's so unfair.

My sister's passport was handed back to her and she wasn't told when the AP will end, even when my dad pressed on to know since her school already resumed on te 7th. The VO said they would try their best to be fast. This is her 4th day of waiting and believe me it's not easy. She is a child and doesn't understand what we the adults pass through having to go to Lagos back and forth.
Did they give any reason at all why she had to undergo administrative processing? This is so unfair to her! I know it is their country and all but I think they should be fair to students, especially if the school is resuming soon.

Good evening all. Has any one had to wait for this "administrative processing". The wait is not easy o. If one gets his or her visa too late, how late do you think it is to catch up with a school that already began for a month or does it depend on the willingness of the school to still accept the student despite the lateness. Can a letter from the school suffice to handle POE?

Pls lets take it easy on the thread, this is not what I saw and thought about this thread when I joined... its supposed to be a small family where we can learn and also help others from our experience. Thank u.
Quickly inform your school. When I told mine, they said they could issue an extension. School is meant to resume on the 28th, with orientation being on the 21st.

Hello.

I am currently in the same situation. After the interview I was told that I would have to undergo administrative processing. The lady didn't initially tell me how long. When I pressed, she said a week or so. This is Day 3. My passport is still with the embassy.

The wait is terrible! I am just going through my days like a zombie. Neither here nor there. Can't even feel anything. angry

Hmm, if your school is requesting a transcript evaluation, why not ask them if it is suitable to use these. As far as I know, WES, IERF, and ECE are the most common ones.

Hello Fenix -

Applications can be refused under 221g for many reasons, sometimes it is used when we need the applicant to provide further information or documents, sometimes it is used when we need to do additional administrative processing at the Embassy or Consulate. Pay attention to the portions of the 221g letter which were marked by the VO who gave it to you. We use the same letter no matter what the reason is for the 221g, and we mark the reasons which are applicable to your case. If your letter does not direct you to provide additional information then none is required from you.
Hello.

Thank you for your response. I guess what worries me is the length of time it might take to complete the process. My passport was not returned to me and on the sheet of paper given it states that the process can take up to 60 days. This is of concern to me, to have my passport held for that amount of time.

Dear VO.

I was also informed that my application had to undergo administrative processing. However i was not told to bring any documents to back up my application, only that it was undergoing administrative processing. Is this unusual? Should I have asked the VO if she needed additional proof?

Thank you!

07/08 years I remember oo. tough time it was for a lot of people. The housing crises and recession saw so many people lose their job and status. I was only lucky to have dodged it . I hope the AP will be alright and you are given so I say .

Congrats, God bless your new journey
Thank you so much. It was indeed a tough time. Imagine being 22, out of school with a good paying job and living the American dream. All of a sudden you are told that you're fired. No solid reason given apart from "headcount realignment". It was a confusing time. I wish I had just left for Nigeria immediately to avoid any immigration-related issues but you never think of these things when you are young. It is well.

Good morning everyone...

I had my interview today at 6.30am. Nice looking lady in window 1. My passport was kept for "administrative processing" after the whole interview. I am terrible at recalling stuff. I sincerely apologize. I'll think write out a transcript later in the day.

Long story short, I was in the US under an H1b visa 9 years ago. I lost the job, then quickly applied to a school which admitted me. I then made a request for a change of status to F1 but the request was denied. After that I left the US. So I definitely had an overstay of about 4 to 5 months while my case was being reviewed. I hadn't returned to the US since then. 9 years.

The VO looked unsure when I explained it to her. I told her that I was initially under OPT but then my company filed an H1b petition and it was granted. I never got the H1b visa stamped on my passport. She then asked if I truly had an H1b, why wasn't it stamped on my passport. I told her that I didn't get the chance to travel to get it stamped. Mind you, you don't need to have your visa stamped so long as you are "in status". Plus you have to travel outside the US to have it stamped. I just never bothered since I was still in status.

She then said she would keep my passport for further review.

I'm just happy that I didn't lie or misrepresent anything. I told my story as it happened and my conscience is clear.

Lesson learned... Pay attention to your current situation as it will definitely affect your future.

TWoods:
Here is the problem... the VOs know for certain that the majority of folks applying for F1 visas are simply using it as a means to immigrate to the US. Easy signs are:

1. Choice of school - too often people are selecting schools that no one has heard of. Tiny 1 building schools, schools that have accreditation issues, schools with significantly weak entry requirements... what do you expect a VO to think?

2. If you truly are a genuine student, it really should not be a hassle describing why you selected a particular school. This is where VOs are expecting you've done your home work. Here students typically take entire weekends to visit schools of their choice, spend a good deal of time calling up their prospective schools, seeking out alumni or faculty with similar research interests. This is the type of thing the VOs are looking to see, not nonsense about faculty:student ratio or size of building. That tells the VO you basically picked the only school poor enough to grant you an I20.
This!!!

Hello house,

I have a question to ask, is it possible that your visa is denied after you have gotten the white paper and asked to come back in 3 days to pick your passport?
I was chatting with a friend last night and he was explaining to me that someone he knows was denied after getting the white paper from the embassy, reason was that the 'VO/Embassy checked the documents he submitted with the school during his application and discovered that he submitted a fake account statement'...
I have a hard time believing this but I need to be sure and confirm from gurus on here that have more experience with stuff like this.
Well, if you do not bring fake/ falsified documents to your interview, it is not something you should worry about.

Hello good morning,
I am new here and really hope this meets you well. I am really worried right now as my student visa to saints Joseph's university in us was denied yesterday of which I decided to try again but the available date is 22nd of this month and my school's orientation is on the 24th of this month and resumption is on the 28, now I really need you guys advice do you think I should still pay for the visa fee again? Plus I was also thinking I could mail the school to explain my plight to them so they could exempt me from the orientation program (At Least I can use that to defend myself at the embassy if I am ever asked) as the visa would take 3 working days after the approval. Pls get back soon so I don't miss the available appointment again which is 22nd of this month.

Thanks
Hi. Before you start paying for visa fees again, it would be useful to have an idea of why you were rejected in the first place. Can you post a transcript of your interview so we can help you analyze what went wrong?
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by Fenix: 8:22pm On Aug 08, 2017
To anyone going for their interview tomorrow, all the best. I am yet to go for my interview so the following is also a checklist for me as much as I would love to encourage others out there going for their interviews.

items to take with you:
- A clear, transparent folder to put all your documents in
- Your passport
- Your i-20
- Your DS160 confirmation page
- Your appointment confirmation page
- GTbank receipt for visa fees
- SEVIS payment receipt
- Bank statement/ Any letter showing proof of funds, including scholarship award letters
- 2 passport photographs

What to wear
This is my opinion and based on my personal taste, but I think business casual will be more appropriate than anything else. Of course wear what makes you feel comfortable, but business casual personally helps me to feel confident and more sure of myself.

Questions to look out for
I have had a look at transcripts and noticed that these questions are quite common (or variations of them), so take your time to think through them:

1) What course are you going for and why did you pick the course you chose to study?
2) Why did you pick the school you chose to attend?
3) What are your plans after graduation? Although from what I have seen, this question appears to be VERY rare. Prepare for it nonetheless, particularly for Masters students.

If I have missed out anything, the gurus can help fill it out.

The V.O is not necessarily your enemy
I may be wrong but I do not think the default mode of the V.O is "Reject, reject, reject until an outstanding candidate comes in". I think that they would not mind giving the visa IF we can prove our genuine intent to study. It is an interview, yes, but it is also a conversation. Let us try and relax with them.

Finally...

- Rest well tonight
- Pray for God's favor if you are religious
- Rest well tonight smiley

ALL THE BEST TO EVERYONE!!!
