Few minutes to noon, Jimi's mum drives into Jimi's compound, sitting besides her is Imade. She looks surprised to see that Jimi's mum had brought them to Jimi's residence.


“ Ma, this is........... Jimi's place.”


“ Yes, it is darling”


“Are we doing the cooking here?”


“Yes my dear, don't forget we called it a fun cooking, And...............a bachelor's kitchen won't be a bad idea............. to make it more fun.”


Imade chuckles so much, while they both makes their way in to settle for their cooking. After few culinary practical, Imade and Mrs Craig were able to make two different dishes.



CHPT 21


After the gym, Jimi had gone to Ebuka's place to freshen up and spend sometimes before coming back home. He opens the door and lifts his brows in surprise, seeing the two in his kitchen.


“ Hello son ! Surprised to see us in your kitchen........ “


Jimi still stares at the two, trying to figure out what they are up to.


“Actually, I was the one who invited Imade here to have a fun cooking. She too was also surprised when I drove her down here.”


Jimi moves close to Imade and hugs her.
“How are you ?”


“Am fine.” She replies.


Mrs Craig points to the dishes they have made.
“ Here comes our menu for today, let me just serve the table, while we all settle down and have lunch together.”


Later in the evening Mabel converses with Jimi to update him on the preparation for Tokunbo’s surprised birthday which was few days away.


“ So what about the bookings ? ” Jimi asked


“Everything had been put in place.”


“ Are we still fixing it for the exact date?”


“ Yes we are, and that's the only part left, I would have to go and convince her to fix an outing with me so she can be available .”


“ Oh, that's good. Just let me know the outcome.”


“ No problem I will, good night.”


“Good night.”

Mabel sits close to Tokunbo in her beauty outlet, listening to her phone Conversation. Tokunbo and Tommy has been running along well on the phone since the couple of days that they met. cradling the phone to her shoulder, Tokunbo makes a phone chat with Tommy who is at the Airport preparing for his departure back to the US.


“ I wish I can cancel this trip and spend more time around.”
The voice comes from the end of the phone.


“ What a wish............so when are you leaving ?” Tokunbo ask
“ We will be boarding very soon.”

“ Ok then , have a safe trip.”

“Thank you, I'll call you when I get to US ”

“ Alright bye"

Call cuts off .


“ Isn't the same Tommy guy you just met ?” Mabel ask

“ Yeah.”

“And he is already wishing to cancel his trip and spend more time around.”

“ C'mon Mabel, Tommy was only joking.”

“ And it always starts from jokes, but this will definitely break Jimi’s heart .”

Tokunbo Emphasising on her words.
“Did you just say Jimi ? Hello ...... you had better wake up from your sleep, Jimi and I are
Bygone.”

“ Really..... you mean nothing can happen between you two again ?”

“ In your dreams...........”

“ Ok, I'll remind you.”

“You will never have to.”

“ Wow................ok, so what about my earlier invitation, Are you game ?”

“ You said this weekend ?”

“ Yes"
“ That's my birthday."

“ Oh........that's true.” Mabel pretends like she doesn't remember

“ I really do not have a plan for the day though.”


Mabel quickly cuts in.
“ That makes a yes for me ?”

“ Yes.”
Mabel bubbles with joy and hugs Tokunbo.

Tessa walks towards Tommy and Tokunbo.


“ Wow, see those we have here. my brother sitting with my friend, don’t tell me you two knew each other before now.”


“ I wish we did, I wouldn't have stepped a foot out of this country if I had met your friend.”
The two ladies smiles.


“Anyways, Tokunbo meet my brother Tommy. He is based in US, but he is home briefly.”


Tokunbo cuts in.
“ Really, Never knew you guys are siblings.”


“ Yes we are . Bro, this is a very special friend of mine Tokunbo of crystal skin care. I actually uses her product for my skin.”


“Wow....... that's a good one.” Tommy replies.
“ I can see you guys are running along already, I 'll have to leave you two, don't want to miss a minute from my own party.”
Tessa rushes in to take the dance floor.


Tommy lives and works in US, and he had only come home briefly.


As the two carry on with their conversation, Tommy moves closer to Tokunbo.
“Sorry, let me help you with this.”
He tries to remove a tiny cotton clinging to Tokunbo’s hair, he shows her then throws it away.


“Thank you !” Tokunbo says
Carefully Tommy adjust Tokunbo ’s hair.


“So, Tokunbo............... I want to know more about you. “Ermm... Ok, you tell me what you would like to know”

Their conversation continues....

The next day, Imade and Oyin sits in the garden at the George’s residence. These two always enjoy each other’s company because they never run out of gist. Shortly Imade’s phone rings.


“ Oh, it’s Jimi’s mum, Hello ma.”


“ Imade my beautiful daughter, How are you ?”


“ Am fine ma.”


“ I don’t know if you would be free tomorrow, I would love to invite you for a fun cooking. remember you once told me you love my cooking, I would love to teach you one or two African dishes.”


Looking not quite prepared for the invitation, but briskly she adjusts.
“Errrm.....tomorrow.......Errmm.....Ok ma............I’ll try to create a time ”


“ Alright my darling, just let me know your conclusion, so that I can send the driver to come pick you up tomorrow . ”


“ Ok ma.”
“ Take care of you, ”
“ And you ma"


Call disengages.


Imade gives a funny face.


“ What ?” Oyin asked
“ Jimi’s mum is inviting me for a fun cooking.”


“ Wow. ...... guess this woman really likes you.”


“ My mum tells me that all the time.”


“Lucky you, the family loves you already.” Oyin winks


Its 6.00am the next morning. Jimi rolls on his bed and stretches his hand to get his phone, then starts a chat with Ebuka. The two plans to hit the gym in few hours. About an hour later, Jimi freshens up, pick his bag and drives out to pick Ebuka so they can head to the gym.

The night is fast drawing in on the same Saturday. Tokunbo is all dressed up in her stunning outfit. She checked through her closet to find The Best Shoe that Matches her outfit.
She takes a picture of her dress and forwards it to Mabel to suggest the matching shoes.
Briefly, her phone rings.


“Hi Mabel !”


“ Baby girl, where are you up to ?”


“ I need to attend a friend’s birthday.”


“ Oh, that Tessa girl you told me about ?”


“Exactly.”


“Are you two that close ?”


“Mabel, Tessa is a nice person. Besides she is really looking out to see me at the birthday so I just have to be there.”


“Ok.........Hmmmmm, I think an ankle strap heel will do.”


“Exactly my thought, thank you !”


“ Alright, have fun."


Tessa’s birthday is on going, Tokunbo drives into the premises and finds her way to the birthday venue. The moment she steps in, her glittering dress is so attractive that Tessa could immediately recognised her presence.

She prances happily towards Tokunbo and gives her a hug. Holding her two hands, she takes a proper look at Tokunbo.


“Tokunbo, you look so gorgeous !”


“Thank you ! I love your dress too.”


“Am so glad you made it to my birthday.”


“I owe you this Tessa”


Still holding one of Tokunbo’s hands, she takes her to a reserved table. In a few moments, one of the server stocks the table with more finger foods, barbecued steaks and wine.


There is so much fun in the air, and a wave of laughter from the guests as the comedian takes over the microphone. About 30 Minutes later, a call comes through Tokunbo’s phone. She gently moves out of the venue to answer her call.


Tommy is sitting few distance away from Tokunbo's seat, he keeps glaring at her and couldn't take his eyes off her. Even as she steps out of the venue.


A while later, Tokunbo disconnects her call and heaves a deep sigh . She takes a good look at the hotel vicinity and seems to enjoy the fresh breeze, she finds a comfortable place and takes her seat.
Just few minutes, Tommy observes that Tokunbo is not in yet, he picks his red cup of drink and also steps out of the venue. On getting outside, he finds Tokunbo sitting quite relaxed, few metres away.

“Hello !”


“Hi !” Tokunbo replies


“Hope am not intruding ?”


“Not at all.”


“If you wouldn’t mind can I ?”
Pointing to the empty space besides Tokunbo.


Affirmatively, she nods.


He takes his seat.


“My name is Tommy”


“Am Tokunbo”


“ Lovely dress ”


“Thank you !”


“ You stepped out of the venue, were you bored at the party ?”


“Of course not, the party is fun, just decided to come out for some fresh air.”


Tommy cuts in


“And.......... we meet.”


Tokunbo smiles.

The Saturday morning is fairly dewy. Oyin had come to spend the weekend at Imade’s place.
The two decked out in joggers and their training shoes. taking a jog around the big estate to perform their morning exercise.
Imade who is already tired slow down to gulp some water, then catch up with Oyin.
Oyin also slow up, and they both walk co-ordinately.


“Imade, this estate should be named ‘ D Range Rover Estate. ”


“How do you mean ?” Imade ask.


“ I can see that almost every building has a Range automobile.


Imade chuckles.


“I didn’t observe that though.”


Soon, they hear the humming sound of a car coming behind them. To kid a little, Oyin covers up her face.


“Ok.........Imade, I won’t look back, but I bet the car coming behind us is a Range rover.”


The two turns curiously to take a look, surprisingly, it was a range automobile. They two can’t help laughing.
The guy driving the car slowly wind down, without knowing the cause of their laughter, he smiles back at Oyin and Imade .


Briefly he admires the two


“I love those trainer shoes.”


“Thank yoooooou ..........!”

Oyin and Imade replies.


He smiles back at them and gently drives off .


“Funny enough, that’s exactly the model of Jimi’s Range.” Imade says


“Wow............. that’s a very classy model.”


“Am sure that’s the latest. “


“What’s up with you two, have you called him today ?


“No...............but I think an early morning hello won’t be a bad idea.”


She brings our her phone to make a video call.


Jimi’s image comes up on the screen still looking very sleepy in bed.”


“Hey pretty face !” Jimi mentions


Imade wears a smile.


“Good morning Jimi ! Obviously I woke you up.”


“I feel lazy right now Imade. I can see that you are already having your morning exercise.”


“Yep.”


“I think am gonna hit the gym this morning too, it’s been a while.”


“I bet you should.”


“Trust you slept well. ”


“Sure I did,.............sorry, meet my friend Oyin.”


She turns the screen to Oyin. Very calmly Oyin waves to Jimi.


“Hi!"


“Hello Oyin ! that’s a nice name.”


Oyin cracks a smile.


“Thank you.” She responds


“Permits me to leave you ladies to have your exercise, so I can get down to mine. I’ ill talk to you later.”


“Alright Byeee.........” Imade disconnects the call.


“I wasn’t expecting you to invite me to that video call.” Oyin says

Shortly the door opens and Tokunbo comes in.

“Hey ! See who will have here.” Didi mentions, she stands to hug Tokunbo.

“Good to see you Tokunbo.”

“Good to see you too.” Pointing to the couch.

“ Please have your seat.” Didi gestured

“What do I offer you ?”

“Oh...........never mind, am actually in a hurry. I would be attending a friend’s birthday this weekend. I need you to make me a very nice outfit.”

“Wow.........!” She stood up to grab her laptop.

“Let me show you some of my new collections, so that you can make a choice.”

They both glanced through some of her works, then Tokunbo finally picked an outfit. Didi brings out her pencil and book to mark out her details.

“Am starting work on the fabrics right away, so it should be ready in couple of days.”

“Can’t wait to see it.” Tokunbo says

“Don’t worry you will.” Didi gets serious with the sketching.

“When last did you hear from your friend Mabel ?” Tokunbo asked

“oh..............we talk everyday.”

Tokunbo suddenly brings out her phone.

“Let me call the big head to tell her that am in your place.”

Immediately Didi purses her lips to hold back her laughter.

At the rest room where Mabel is concealing, suddenly she springs up at the sound of her phone. She quickly deep the phone into her bag to cover up the sound. Gently she switched the phone off, covering her mouth with the second hand.

Again Tokunbo tries to call her.

“haan- han switched off ?” She murmured to herself.

Didi pretends like she knows nothing, paying a serious attention to her sketching.

“I couldn’t reach the big head ( Mabel) again, her phone is switched off.”

“Am sure it’s the net work.” Didi replies.

Gently, Tokunbo straightens up. “Didi, I have to get going.”

Mabel also rose to her feet to see her off.

In few minutes, Didi and Mabel roll over with laughter, as they recounts the funny scenario.

“Thank goodness I was holding my phone, that was the only way I could quickly switch the phone off to curb the noise.”

“Mabel, it took all my self to control the laughter, the moment she said let me call the big head.”

They both burst out laughing again.

“But am so happy she didn’t find out.”

“ Me too.”



Tessa and Tokunbo engages in conversation, feeling so free with each other at Tokunbo’s office.

“Tessa you are kidding me”

“Seriously Tokunbo, I see men as serious issues. I have no other option than to exempt them from my life.”

“You don’t mean it ?”

“Of course I do. Am a feminist anytime, any day.”

Tokunbo chuckles “Tessa you are a real crazy chic.”

“Oh yeah, I am crazy everyday and twice on Sundays.”

Tessa’ s attitude got Tokunbo laughing her head off. One of the staffs opens the door with a package in her hands

. “Ma, these are the items.” She drops it right on the table. Tokunbo brings the contents out one after the other.

“Tessa here you are.”

Tessa picks one of it to take a proper look.

“Oh..........my ! Tokunbo you really did a rebranding, this is Beautiful.”

Tokunbo places her hands on her chest smiling excitedly.

“Thank you so much.”

Tessa packs all the items back into the bag.

“Tokunbo, please endeavour to honour my birthday invite.”

“Tessa, I will sure keep it in mind.”
